Mortal Kombat 11 General Discussion Media Thread

I am really disappointed with ninjas and their colors. Shades of their original colors would be great, white for Scorpion and Sub-Zero work too. But green, yellow, purple etc. really hurts my eyes on wrong characters. It wouldn’t be a problem to give to all the other characters different colors of clothes, but the colors of the ninja characters are as iconic as themselves, you couldn’t see the difference until MK4 but they still always have worn their colors. This is very much my biggest issue with MK11 so far.

One of the rare instances I agree with Tarkatan. While it won't bother me, if I will see someone playing pink sub zero (though I will make sure to beat their ass. The guy can be Ninjakilla or SonicFox for all I care), I think they should have just added different shades of the said colors, rather than go crazy with extreme color change.

But just my opinion.

Remember that Komic Reptile where I was screaming from the rooftops that it was Smoke?

THAT is why you do not, under any circumstances, change the costume colors of the ninjas.

I feel like all this color change is for the new generation who just cant accept anything they can't change and always sensitive and vocal

Like how dare you assume that is Scorpion from his yellow outfit. Color does not decide what ninja he is
 
It could be a mistranslation, but it appears that the Brazil event today, happening around 3pm central, is going to have some new content in it.

But in all seriousness, 3pm central means 9pm gmt. Will check it out.
 
I doubt they're going to be using a newer build with new characters / stuff; I imagine NRS would want to premier that first.

Still, it's possible I suppose. Where do we tune in later?

No shit Dick Tracy. I'm particularly talking about Noob (pretty sure you didnt the initial post) and his skin. Not his clothes. His skin is all black. That stands out more than a black ninja garb. Always has.

The graphics/tech guy said that they are using current builds for their demos. It's possible we'll get something new. Only problem...I won't understand a thing they'll say, other than huehuehuehue :lol:
 
Current build? That'd be pretty wild considering the one at the London/LA reveal event was already a few weeks old.

They should speak English, not Portuguese. There is no excuse for these foreign countries alienating their primary white Western audience. ;)

Agreed. His Deception primary looked more like human Smoke than anything else. His skin color is the most important part of his design.

Well, it goddamn does. Actually it was exactly and just the only thing that was visually different. And there is a bunch of MK games released since 1992 and since then the color has been their trademark. Not only this, but there is also it's logic behind all that. Scorpion is yellow because of fire flames. Sub-Zero is blue because of BLUE ice. Reptile is a GREEN reptile ever since MK2. Smoke is grey, Rain is a nod to Prince and Purple Rain after all. Error Macro a.k.a Ermac was a romoured RED Scorpion glitch and Noob Saibot is a BLACK shadow.

Your post is so much this new "doesn't matter everything" movement. It's like Netflix and Troy. Achilles has been described as giant with blonde hair ever since Homer but they've decided to cast a black actor. And then they are like: Did you assume Achilles' skin color?? Come on. (Troy was generally a bad show, the actor was actually good but this is another topic)

People are waiting 4 years for a Mortal Kombat game and you have to accept that some things are as iconic as any other basic elements.

I am 100% behind Tarkatan Trash and other users on this.

Scorpion wears yellow for a reason. It's because the founder of his clan wore yellow to mock the Lin Kuei.

And yeah the blackwashing with Troy was unreal. But hey, SJWism doesn't exist according to some :lol:

I'm afraid it's just like with Kreate-A-Fatality gimmick that was just an excuse for being too lazy to create individual finishers - now we have 'OK, there's no Rain but you can just colour your Sub-Zero purple!'.

There's good change and bad change. I simply don't like bad change, and changing the costume colors of the ninjas is bad change.
