MKX officially made the EVO 2015 roster!

We can see it coming as NRS talked a lot about eSport and whatnot lately but now it's official: MKX is one of the main Tournament games at EVO 2015. Injustice will miss out though unless dedicated fans organize a side tourney for it.

The official line-up:

1) Ultra Street Fighter 4
2) Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
3) Super Smash Bros. Wii-U
4) Killer Instinct
5) Mortal Kombat X
6) Guilty Gear XRD
7) Tekken 7
8) Super Smash Bros. Melee
9) Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax

MKX is due out 4/14, EVO starts three months later. So EVO players will have about 12 weeks to learn all the variations and matchups. If we take 24 kharacters for a starting roster, that's 2 kombatants per week that equals a variation a day. It will be a busy schedule for EVO hotshots as well!

It'll be interesting to see which kharacters will be the early favorites and whether top players like Perfect Legend will stick with old favs or dare to take risks with new options like D'Vorah.

What do you expect to see at EVO 2015 when MKX takes the stage?

3 months should be enough for anyone. In other words, it's a level playing field. Anyone can win EVO for MKX. Is anyone going?

Me. Not to mention this year's EVO sounds like they are cooking something big.

But yeah. Even if pros have played Injustice or MK9, it will still take time for them to get adjusted with MKX controls. For this reason even newcomers have a fair shot.

So I am going for a kill.

tekken 7 is going to be a total borefest. i think MK X will be the hype of the tournament!

It is so depressing how Tekken has fallen. It used to be my favourite fighting game back in the day, but MKX is completely taking its spot (in the west).. They just need to change it up a little.

i heard EVO removed Tekken once cause barely anyone entered for it. It didn't hype the crowds either. maybe it will change but idk.

3 months is not enough time to learn the game enough to NOT get cheesed out by something you didn't expect or is unknown.

But at the very least at least we're all going in blind. I'm going to be at EVERY MKX national up til EVO, and I'm going to No life the game. I'm aiming for #1 this year in MKX.

I already have a setup where I can learn stuff about the game while I'm working at my job.

My Tax returns are ready.

LETS GO

I really wanna challenge you in MKX when it comes out even though I know my pride will be cut to sit when I do play you.

What are you getting it for?

I don't think so. NRS said that they invited the pros to help them balance the game. And I highly doubt that they invited the also running ones. I don't exactly know how it goes and I'm sure that no matter how exciting it is not every chosen pro could take their chances and travel back and forth to play MKX (I think they must test it in the NRS lab, I can't imagine them to hand out demo copies to testers). Still, there will be players who are skilled enough already and who had the chance to play the game before its release and that can be a big advantage for them.

So it will be interesting to see wheter it's a level playing field or not.

Of course the ones who's had a hand on the game before its release will have a better feel of it, but NRS is most likely doing balance changes all the way up until the game's release, and afterwards as well, so even those who have had time with the game already can't be 100% sure of their "level". Also, some probably have alot of time to play the game while others have a job, family and/or social life to attend to as well, so there will always be a difference in level of playing field between the tournament players.

I think during the first year of Tekken 7, it will bring in plenty of hype. The problem with Tekken 6 was that most people kept using Bob, since there was a balance issue, so Tekken 7 needs to allow players to use a variety of different characters in order to keep it fresh in the tournament scene and it needs to look like a new game too.

Hopefully MKX can last longer in the tournament scene than MK9 did.

I am confident MKX will last a decent amount of time in the tournament scene, mainly because it looks like a major improvement from MK9 & I dont think the producers expected MK9 to be as successful as it was, so developers will make sure MKX is made as close to perfect as possible.

Wait so Tekken 7 console version is gonna be out pretty much by May/June I assume?

EDIT: NVM further investigation tells me it's gonna be the Arcade version.

Yeah, they will put up arcades so people can play the unfinished version of Tekken 7... How that got into EVO is beyond me.

we will see soon enough.

but from what i've seen so far, it really looks like the same s**t they've released before tbh. Its like tekken 6 but with new characters and a cheap "Rage Arts" mechanic that looks broken :/ They haven't done anything worth getting excited over lately.

i guess i can take their gross new anime-looking characters as something new.

will the arcade even be available for everyone to play in america? seems so unfair since i know the arcade scene is dead here.

At this point it makes little difference. Time difference is really little if we take into a account how much time it takes to get used to a game and mastering it. Not to mention some people learn the game basics in couple of months while others take half of the year.
If anyone is going to be at a huge disadvantage, then it will be the people who will be playing MK for the first time.
So once again. I really think that playing ground will be pretty much even.
