Mk9 as a serious fighter

what is the most important thing you think mk developers should talk about?

Well if you think they can probably toss in units sold without returns and with.. those two numbers would be different. If I was a competitor I would mention the number with returns.. it'll be smaller. If I was them I would use store sales/ebay sales if possible/hell even systems that were sold to the stores... there's tons of possible answers.

Numbers can be tricksies.

Sent from my Moment while I should be working...

It's so sad no new info is being released by the developers. I don't understand how they are suppose to get feedback if they don't tell us what they are planning on doing. This is suppose to be a game based on the fans but all we got is what we got in e3. Even thou that's a great thing, we are left with just speculating and hoping. I don't mean to sound negative but with so many competitive fighting games coming out. They should at least hear our criticism and applause for other games so they may try to not make the same mistake or add on to what we thought was good. Maybe there is a place where I might hear more news and I don't know about it just yet. If someone does please post link here.

I think they have listened to the fans enough. Moreover, they can only cater to the fans so much, considering not everyone will be happy with the final product. Some people will likely still have one or two problems with it; be it the story, the graphics, the fatalities, the online play or something else. You can't make everyone happy, and they shouldn't make a game that tries to make everyone happy. They should focus on making the best game they can. People will like it, or they won't. Either way, there's a good chance that people on both sides of the equation will buy it, and that's the important thing.

Aside from characters and game modes (both of which fairly obvious), what *interesting* info would they be holding back?

I think you just need to be more patient. It hasn't even been 2 months since the debut, so there's gonna be a bit of lag in info since they have to actually build the additional stuff we haven't seen.

I believe they're paying more attention now than they ever have. It's pretty obvious that parts of Team MK lurk on MK forums (TRMK among others), so they see a lot of what we post. It's not really feasible to reply simply because they'd be inundated with requests and if they confirm something that hasn't been built yet, it can easily come back to bite them on the ass.

You also gotta remember that they're designing this with a vision that's *already* based fan feedback. Since they see the stuff we post, they may tweak or add certain things, but they can only do so much without it drastically affecting that vision.

Plus, the suspense makes the reveal so much sweeter. (See sig.)

Yo i TOTALLY AGREE MAN! They need to fix that! They should use a seperate partical system for the hair (like they did in that Final Fantasy Advent Children movie) and not let hair or other clothing on the fighters body to glitch and interfere with the other character! LOOKS LAME! I already seen a glitch in MK9's Kung Lao fatality where he splits you in half on the ground... If you notice when hes dragging Sub-Zero by the legs towards his Hat you will see that when he bends down his cloth from his belt goes through the polygons of the hat spinning in the ground! Kung Lao's cloth should atleast get TORN in half when that happens... I mean if it can cut a body in half?....

:P

ALSO the blood looks more real this time around! I hate it in MK Deception when the blood had these GOOFY BIG BLOBS pouring out of the bad guy! Oh mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, Baraka's was the worse, when he cuts your arms off and head and legs and then hold up your upper half torso with his blade... and you see ALL THESE BIG WATERMELON sized blood drops that DONT even look like blood!!!! They dont even hit the ground, they disappear before they even get mildly close to the ground... PATHETIC!!!!

One more thing is WITH BODY DAMAGE!!!! Make it real this time! When Baraka slices at you in the chest, don't make the character look like he was sliced in the leg! Use REAL TIME BODY DAMAGE!!!! Hopefully with the next MK(10), You will be able to CUT off the characters arms or legs, and have them limp around (if severe... IN-MIDFIGHT!!!!!) You know, like in TIME KILLERS back in the day... hahahha Actually I dont know about that last statement, maybe that would be going to far...

ANYWAYS MIDWAY (Warner brothers, WHATEVER...) Fix these small details OR YOU WILL LOOSE on the OVERALL presentation of REALISM in the game! And Ed Boon, MK Team... YOU people are GODS in the VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY!!!

-Cheers-

Clipping of hair and cloth is pretty common in games, im sure they know about it, but honestly they aren't going to make a huge deal over it at this point in development. The final game will have some of these visual problems(?) and really there is nothing you can do about it. Secondly, the blood and body damage has been greatly improved already. We've been seeing examples of this for some time now so don't come into a thread complaining about something that obviously isn't a problem.
Oh and btw, caps loses its effect after the first 10 sentences you use with it.

i agree with you 100% man!

Also... Street fighter is gay!

:p

You do realize that flaming another game of the same genre is only feeding the fire?

Glad to have you here.

I hate to say/admit it, but Tekken has outsold both.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_game_franchises

Although, in SF & MK's defense, both peaked in the 90s, before decent home versions could be made affordable. It's virtually impossible to calculate how much sales they (collectively, arcade and consoles) have generated since I don't believe arcades tallied or reported plays.

Now is that Console based? are those numbers including arcade quarters? im quite sure those numbers would be different if mr quarter was involved.

The whole lack of news and inside looks on the game convo that was happening? They can't give out the whole game before it releases, you do realize it's coming out in the spring of 2011? Like March or something? That's almost 7 months away, they have to pace themselves or we'll have no reason to play it because we know everything in it already...

At best, it's console and arcade machine sales and is still highly skewed in Tekken's favor.

We have a good idea of who will be on the roster, we know it's 2.5D, we know it's excessively gory, we know about when it will be released, and we have a good idea of what modes (Story, VS, and Tag VS) it will have. With what we already know, it's just connecting the dots, so I really don't know what else they could tell us that we can't figure out.

I'm guessing we'll see 2 (MAYBE 3) spurts of info dropped between now and release day.

I have a few gripes about the game already just a few tho the Fatalities aren't grusome enough and the animation is slightly off

Not gruesome enough?! Scorpion chops his opponent in half, chops his head off, then chops his head in half.. and it's not gruesome enough?! lol
what more do you want?

Dude, you're permanently ****ing high or something. Thus far, the fatalities in MK9 look like they are the best and most creative fatalities in the entire series. GTFO with that crap.

If fatalities and gore are your primary concern in a fighting game, then you need to find another game to play.

it's stylish just isn't very gruesome or gory to me

ya. they need style and gore. i hope the fatalities we havent seen yet are so gorey that they couldnt show us. im still happy with what we've seen so far though. THE MORE GORE THE BETTER!!!!

You're right. I just hope it gets better everytime this game progresses with better blood, gore, and animation.

@oratnick13: I agree with you too! The more gore the better!

Blood and gore lost its shock value a long time ago. It's not that hard to find a non-MK game with gratuitous violence these days. I'm not saying that that shouldn't be any blood and extreme violence, it shouldn't be used as a crutch either. I want to play a game, not just watch people get dismembered and eviscerated.

i agree with you on that. its not 1992 anymore. games arent made as a kids toy anymore. most games are aimed at an older crowd now. violence is like more accepted and "expected" in games nowdays. im into a game for the whole package, not just one thing stand alone. we just happened to be talking about the gore at the time. i dont know if i really need to say this, but the violence and gore is one thing that seperates mk from other fighting games. thats why it gets brought up often.

I never said it was my primary concern lol my primary concern is for them to fix the arkward stiff animation the fatalities r just ok at the moment the only one that really gets two thumbs up is Kung Lao's Buzzaw the rest r just okish...
