I think they should scrap it all and make a cheesy highbrow humour 70s kung fu movie based on the first game. Imagine, Ray Harryhausen stop motion Goro, terrible dubbing, over the top gore and a setting like enter the dragon.

The first games theme done in some jazz funk band on it, it would be a winner

There is no example for you to use that shows MK would be unsuccessful w/o gore.

I want gore in the movie,

But I don't think Mortal Kombat is so shallow that even if the movie was Teen Rated, if done correctly, it could still be a HUGE HIT. It's not a game that's just a slaughterhouse. It has morals/betrayals/friendships/trust/revenge/deceit. ect ect ect.

Mortal Kombat has been blown up like it's the game of gore. To me it's just a underlying them to the big picture that is Mortal kombat.

just like Dead or alive is about half naked chicks fighting right? No, it's a fighter too, that could be successful if they made the game deep/competitive and they wouldn't need half naked chicks to make it stand on its own.

I would love a grindhouse + slaughterhouse type of MK movie btw but with more budget. Kind of like "Machete" + "Hostel" + "The Avengers" + "2001 Maniacs" + "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" + "Ticked Off Trannies with Knives". :-)

Lol I have no hype whatsoever for an MK movie.


Movies almost never appeal to the fans of the series.
I'd probably just end up with nerd raging when I see Scorpion banging Mileena in the shower.

lol, we'll just have to see what the trailer looks like. If I see a grocery store at the start I'm out.



Ed Boon and his crew should just take their voice actors, or get better ones if any of them suck. And make a full CGI movie.

Some Hollywood exec would probably have a brain child and declare something like "Ed Boon no longer sounds like Scorpion, we had to change it" and get Hugo Weaving to do the voice acting of Scorpion.

A CGI MK movie? I know its not entirely CGI but i take it you have never seen MK The Journey Begins. Watch it a gentle reminder of what effort and resources could potentially be put into a CGI MK Movie. Yes it is old and technology has advanced but that was poor even by the standards of yesteryear.

If your looking at something similar to the story mode in MK9, with NRS been the money grabbing people they are I reckon they would put their resources into doing another story mode for Injustice or the next MK game with similar production costs and be able to charge £45 for it, instead of £12-£16.99 for a DVD/Bu Ray.

Your second paragraph... um... No. IMO if you have seen the cut scenes of some of the hype trailers they put out before the game came to fruitation like scorpion shoving subzero's own head into his chest. The fight scenes were phenominal and flashy.

You'll also know they can't eff up the story because Ed Boon is on it.

I'm not talking about story mode in Mk9, they can do better than that if their resources since it's not all going into gameplay but instead graphics/voice acting/Plot ect ect.

the Mk The Journey Begins example also is bad. That's like saying "LOL remember MK annihilation? we saw how well that went, it's a gentle reminder they shouldn't do a MK movie ever again.

Anything can be done "again" and done right.

And you failed to remember that you don't make your money off of DVD sales. most of the money comes from the movie theatres.

People don't buy movies these days.
