MK Australia Banning Discussion

Yea its terrible. Ranked works for me but its basically the same it has always been (not fixed as they said), taking a longass time to find opponents and occasionally getting booted due to "session no longer exists".

I'm hoping they fix it up but it looks unlikely as everyone else in the world seems to be reporting superior connection compared to the pre-patch connection.

I'm playing on a US copy, and I get disconnected from the majority of the matches. I can't play at all unless it's against an Australian or I get lucky with a Player Match. Like the posters above, catching a Ranked is impossible.

The good news is that when I do get a working connection, it's usually lag free. I've had matches upon matches and had the game running beautifully. But it's really ****ing bad that I can only play against a fraction of people online. I used to play offline a lot with friends, but since they don't own the game, they've sort of lost interest in it. It's not looking good for me.

Guys, we really need to setup an offline scene here...

I agree with setting up a scene. Hell I would be happy to see a scene for Sydney (with Shadowloo Showdown being in Melbourne) for any fighting game.

i'd be down for a sydney meetup too, but we got to be careful he wrong people don't hear about it. we're not even supposed to have the game remember.

i'm not even sure it's safe posting here.

but yeah jarvis my experience online are much like yours.

You both live in Sydney though. =( Really need a Melbourne scene as well, my only friend with the game is very casual, he barely plays games at all and it's usually not MK when he does.

And interestingly there actually seems to be not a lot of latency when I manage to connect to Australians either, sucks that they put the input lag/dropping back in though so it's now almost impossible to do reptile combos even without much lag. Kenshi is still ok, just drop juggles a lot when dashes don't register.

Back before the patch when I could connect to some Americans, there was definitely lag there, it was very obvious when I was playing an American in the Australian room, right from character selection I could feel the lag. But at least I could connect to 80% of games I tried to connect to, not 5%. Still couldn't do ranked then though for some reason.

They really don't care about us having the game haha!

Public display might be slightly different though, which is why it would be wise to do it at someone's place rather than a public venue.

All Sydney siders here? No Melbournites?

Do you constantly get the "Game Session is no longer available" shit whenever you go into a match as well?

Hmm.... however I was thinking maybe we should have certain organized days we play together online. We used to do that for Tribes games, called them PUG's (Pick up Games)

Maybe we can organize certain days and time to put in a calender and see how many can turn up to a room.

Yep, I get this the majority of the time. So I actually get excited whenever I find a working connection.

Go for it, it's a good idea, can't say how often I'd be there as my spare time is kinda all over the place. It still doesn't solve the problem of not having an offline scene here though, and online is still not the same despite how smoothly it can run. It's also just nowhere near as much fun, online can't get close to the atmosphere of offline.

I heard the game is region locked though is it not? Like people who have the US version cant play people who have the UK version?

I am pretty sure you can only play with others from Australia and also using the same region game. I have a Hong Kong copy...

I'm going to start idling in a room called Aussie-HK see if that helps... others should do the same.. Aussie-UK, Ausse-NZ, Aussie-US... etc etc

I'd actually love to know exactly what copy most Aussies are playing. I'd probably be willing to buy another one if it means a big increase in online matches.

if eveyone idles in the rooms I sugested we will know in a few days as we can see what rooms have more players.

I have a Hong Kong version btw

Yeah that's what I've done. I have a region-free (supposedly) NTSC copy from Hong Kong already but I've ordered a UK PAL copy to see if that helps.

So, if you haven't been keeping up with news:

WE'RE GETTING THE R18+ RATING SOON

That's right, you heard correctly. All, bar one (NSW), has agreed to implement the R18+ rating. NSW is still waiting on it's Attorney General to make the decision. Chances are all the pressure will make him say yes and if he doesn't, all others states will still apply the R18+ rating.

scoff... I'll belive it when i see it.. and even if they do.. there is no chance that MK will re-release the game here... we will have to wait for mk10

NICE update Jinko! :)
Unfortunately I still don't think it's looking good for an MK9 release. But just maybe...
Would be so awesome if MK blew up down here.

I'm up for a Sydney scene.

I want to work on starting one up regardless of whether we get a local release or not. Hopefully when I have a bit more time on my hands.
I wonder how many people actually bothered to import the game into Australia, and how many of them are real MK fans who are still stuck into it. I want it to be more than I think.

That makes me wonder, how big would a Sydney Tourney get? I know Jarvis brought up the idea a while back, but it's not exactly worth my time if only 4 or so people turn up.
