Metal vs Nu metal

Yea same here i prefer older metal bands than newer ones whether they are NEW or UNDERGROUND im sorry but its just what i like no seven string stuff like that.

I don't understand why we are asking which metal is better? Nu metal is metal...Metal is just a blanket term....There are a lot of different types of metal so which metal are you comparing nu-metal to since it's all metal???

I think its because so many people into Metal tend to always refer to stuff like Nu-Metal and Metalcore as "Poser Metal". I always thought maybe its because of the turntables and rapping vocals.

i like the following

-Metallica (83-89)
-Slayer
-Megadeath
-Motorhead
-Iron Maiden
-Anthrax
-Ozzy
-Dio

if you are into any type of metal and don't like all of the following
you don't know what the F**K you are talking about

That is all :D

Nu Metal doesn't always have rapping vocals or turntables. All I think Nu Metal means really is metal that is inspired by rap. It's the drums mostly, not the lyrics. Although some Nu Metal bands have rap lyrics/rappers and make it work. But the ones that try too hard are the ones that are made fun of and not taken seriously.

So since I don't like Anthrax or Motorhead... I can't like metal or know what I'm talking about?

I don't like Motorhead either. They seemingly just play ace of spades over and over. I like Among the Living but that's about it when it comes to Anthrax. Dio and Ozzy? I guess they can both sing well. I never really subscribed to the Gods of Metal thing. Same goes for Halford. mrodz should probably check out Nevermore or Blind Guardian because there has been relevant Metal beyond 1989.

I don't really think one is better than the other .... it's all about what you personally like. I'm sure a lot of MEtal, nu metal, and screamo bands all like the same type of music .. or some of the same artists. It's honestly all about being an artist with your music and creating something new and different. If music always stayed the same then we would never get to find a new sound. Their is all sorts of metal out there ... hip hop metal... yuck in my opinion.. nu metal.. old metal.. techno metal.. bubble gum metal... christian metal... satanic metal.. instrumental metal.. alternative metal... shoot i like a bit of all of it accept for hip hop metal or rap metal. You got metal bands throwing in crazy crap from pianos to flame thrower sounds in the background. I pretty much just love it all... even if I can't understand the words .. I might be enjoying the guitar riffs or the drums. I personally think OLD KORN had some of the most awesome BASS beats. I think LAMb OF GOd has some awesome in your FaCE VOCALS. It's all about enjoying what ever is out there man. MY favorite band right now is ZAO.. they have been around for a good while But not one of their albums is the same... I personally like that a lot.

P.S. HERE is some ZAO..http://youtu.be/VjcTMtiHZio

I listen to Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, DethKlok, Amon Amarth and others on a daily basis, just don't understand how people can like any type of anything and not like the best of it, just an opinion (a drunken rage opinion, but an opinion none the less lol)

None of the bands you're talking about appeal to me at all.
I'll stick to my shit and you stick with yours.

Finally, more Killswitch fans. One thing I hate however, is seeing as though I'm a black guy people automatically assume that's the reason I listen to them. Hell, most of my white friends don't even know Holy Diver is NOT a Killswitch song. Or who Dio is. Then again most of my white friends hate Metallica as well. Perhaps I live in some sort of paradox town...But yeah, Killswitch is my favorite band when it comes to metal and I never once felt the need to classify them as metalcore or the like. Just metal. The way I see it they're heavy enough to not get mainstream radio play so that pretty much makes them metal. Although before I discovered them my fav band was Linkin Park. So called Nu Metal. Nowadays I hate them, but had it not been for them I wouldn't have ventured into heavier music and discovered Killswitch, As I Lay Dying, or All That Remains. For that reason I still kinda hold them in a high regard.

Also Dethklok is awesome.

Killswitch Engage gets radio play all the time.
I find them to be excessively boring.
Sorry.

Oh yeah and Hardcore Punk is the best.
That is all.

I listen to Killswitch Engage, Eluveitie (folk metal band, and pretty good live), Trivium, Alestorm (pirate metal), Five Finger Death Punch, and pretty much if it sounds good, I'll give it a listen. So yay.

I wouldn't really call disturbed "modern" metal.
Does anybody here live in a state with an actual metal scene...?

Cleveland has some pretty decent underground hardcore/deathcore bands. Of course you got the guys who made it big being Mushroomhead, Chimaira, and Salt the Wound.
