liu kang role?

As I mentioned in one of my posts (which that part obviously got ignored because it was placed right in the middle of a debate post) I stated that Liu Kang has never once shown any kind of evil in him with the exception of Deception. But with that, he was somewhat not in control of his reanimated corpse.

I do not see a purpose for him turning evil suddenly all because he's "a god" or "a boss." They've toyed around with this character far too many times, doing something like that would just be another utter disappointment seeing how I don't recall that many actually liking zombie Liu Kang.

If he returns, I don't want him evil at all. Neutral is as far as I'll go, nothing evil.

This is exactly what I've been saying it makes no sense for Liu to go bad. I mean yeah Raiden accidentally killed him but in the end it was for the best (as much as I hate to admit that) so once Liu sees that Im sure he'll realize he almost made a HUGE mistake which is why I think he may forgive the Thunder god. I kinda blame MK Legacy for all this evil liu BS. Yeah I admit I kinda liked what they went with in MKL (Still think SF:AF is the best video game movie ever) but that was because I knew it was not going to be faithful to the lore thats why I accepted it as its own thing. Keep Evil Liu in MKL only

I'm really thinking that maybe Liu has been raised to godhood. There's nothing in the story to suggest it. But I'm thinking he might end up being a tragic kind of boss or perhaps Raiden might find it necessary to confront Liu who is now no longer subservient to Raiden. Especially if Liu might have self appointed himself as the protector of Earthrealm. He could totally be a good guy that doesn't respect Raiden's authority, which could cause some serious friction. Which might be why Johnny Cage is Raiden's champion instead of Earth's champion.

And I've stated before that I am not set and stone that the character I suggested is Takeda in that picture. Yes, it's speculation, it's what we've done from the get go.

And to be perfectly frank with you, I hate speculating, that's why I refuse to take part in that boot picture people keep bringing up every now and then. I was mainly going out on a limb stating that it could be Takeda based on who we've seen so far. But I was not expecting, nor do I need to tolerate, someone taking what I said as an opinion, and turning it into a joke, prancing around in this thread and making me look like an idiot for even suggesting that. I've dealt enough immaturity back on MKO and it's one of the two main reasons why I left permanently from there. I would like to not keep bumping into that on these other forums that I've recently joined.

I don't care if I'm the only person that's saying it could be Takeda, but I do care when someone starts making an ass of me. You don't need to make fun of someone thinking differently than you, even if you 100% don't agree with it at all. That's all I have to say.

Now... I would like to go back to discussing Liu Kang, and I'm sure everyone else doesn't want to read us two going back and forth and such, so let's just freaking agree to disagree, okay? :-)

I have to side with GloriousDK on this. There is absolutely no guarantee that Liu Kang is in the game, but between the Living Towers figure looking more like him than it does any other character, his Italian VA saying that he's done some voice work as Liu, all other good MK1-2 characters being back, and Liu having such a huge beef with Raiden in MK9 - a storyline that is obviously going to be pursued further in MKX, as per Sub-Zero's claim that "Earthrealm deserves a better protector" - while we're still missing a "fun, surprise returning" final boss, we're looking at a growing mountain of circumstantial evidence.

It's one thing to say that "Liu Kang could still not be in the game," which is true, and it's another to say "it's unlikely that Liu Kang is in the game." No, it's likely that he is. And I don't even like the guy.

With Liu Kang posing as a possible alternative to being the protector of Earthrealm and the roster seemingly heavy on the good guy side, we might very well see interfactional conflict in Earthrealm. Some siding with Raiden and others siding with Liu. Outworld had its civil war. Earth Realm could have one. But that could be pretty lame in the long haul.

I'm pretty sure he's in. I'm compelled to believe it. His death in MK9 is much more important than most of the other people who died. I mean... there's certainly some conflict to be resolved there indeed.

Like captain america vs iron man

Possibly. I mean, I wouldn't particularly like that story but Sub Zero's clan doesn't seem all too jazzed about the Special Forces group.

Mortal Kombat Civil War, in Outworld and on Earth!

Liu Kang - Kung Lao, Kitana, Sub-Zero
Raiden - Johnny Cage, Sonya, Scorpion (OK, I ran out of people)
Better yet how about
Team Liu Kang- Kung lao, Kitana Subzero , Kung Jin
Team Raiden - Cassie, Sonya , Johnny, Jacqui
Wild Cards - Scorpion , Takeda

@gloriusdk I agree Liu Kang is in the game nd has a role in mkx , He is undoubtedly one of the strongest mk characters having beat Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn multiple times , goro nd Shinnok. As much as Scorpion nd Subzero are recognizable to mk , Kang is the poster boy Protagonist as is Ryu to SF. Yes he does deserve some more character development, but I dont think he should be hated nd slept on. Same with Johnny and Sonya. All the classic mk characters have pretty much been revealed but the original 3 heroes. I suspect Sonya is only seen in story with Johnny nd Liu playable... Johnny might even end up fighting Liu (via Mk Legacy style) same with Kung Lao fighting him. If this game follows mk4- whenever I can definitely see liu being a burnt ass hermit only stepping out to sacrifice himself to rescue Kitana( much like his one man crusade to save her in mk4) ....... all I kno is Im fascinated by this game's animations and Jeet kune do is a must have fighting style

I may sound like im rambling but I like to look at everything as a sign(mk Legacy, etc) why redesign his dragon to be metallic like the logo? He might come back with dragon scales on his burnt sides perhaps as an Onaga vessel. Hell if acid spitting Lizard man reptile can be a vessel what's to say someone with an actual inner dragon cant ?

Liu kang is the heart and soul in every mortal kombat game even deadly alience he even make a impact when he not playable for example it took two guys to kill him and two endings of kitana and kung lao metion him so even though he was not playable he still made an impact

If Shao Kahn still beat Liu Kang to a pulp, the same ending would have happened. Except Earthrealm would not be short one Mortal Kombat champion.

And if Liu Kang managed to beat Shao Kahn, then fast forward a couple of years and the universe explodes again. Raiden stopped Shao Kahn from winning everything forever. Even if that takes 50 good guys' deaths, it's still worth it.
