You think that it's ridiculous that NRS developers are choosing to spend time out of their lives, and money out of their allowance, to work on characters they like, as opposed to characters they don't like?
Do you understand how ridiculously entitled that sounds?
Do you understand that to reinvent Kai, or Frost, or whoever it is you want, would take people months of actual work? And the people having to do that work might, just might, not give enough of a shit about Kai, or Frost, or whoever it is you want, to want to spend literally months of their own lives making those characters come to life just so that you can enjoy them?
I don't think you actually understood my words the way I wanted to put them and then again maybe I didn't make myself clear enough. If that's the case, I am sorry, but I definitely meant that I think it's childish of them to go all "zomg let us kill those characters because it so coolz lolzorx" on characters that they did spent time out of their lives to create and make games around them in the first place. MK4-MKA, remember? That's four friggin' games they created around these new characters. Plenty of time invested. You say that they have to spend money and time from their lives on it, well, I say that they already did that for four games - surely they could have scrapped everything after the first one if they thought they could do better? Nop, they just kept going reaching the all time low with Armageddon. They didn't spend time on better characters or developing the good ones, they just kept the good ones on the bottom and piled up awful character after awful character.
These games are gone, though. What they do, move 100% forward? Nop, they decide that the best thing to do is to bring face after face to just kill them for their laughs and Twitter jokes. I do not agree that wasting time killing characters out of nowhere just for the lolz and the sake of killing the characters they don't like anymore is the way to go. Sorry, but I can't agree with it and that's not even saying I cared for these characters - it's just that I don't think it's mature of anyone to go crapping all over a work that they decided to make public for others to enjoy after they stopped caring for it. It would be better to just shut up and move forward, then. I'm a musician/composer, and that's just the way I work, I don't think it's professional. If you created a work of which you get ashamed of in the future, do you move on or do you waste your time making joke after joke at its expense instead of focusing on better things? Maybe we have different points of view on that, and I respect that, but I just wanted to explain why I think this way.
It's just like the Rain jokes: they created the "joke", they were responsible for making it an actual character with unique moves and story, he was implemented in the original trilogy and then they decide to keep pissing on his existence even though there are players expecting to play as him again. Ermac had the same kind of origin, and look at what he became thanks to some development. Imagine if instead of doing that they were just using him for mocking. No, sorry, I don't agree with it. Ed Boon sounds very childish to me most of the time and I don't think that'll change anytime soon. I respect you, though.
PS.: There was no random killing of Kai as of now, so it's not like that was my point. Frost wasn't randomly killed too, which is a miracle. My point was about the way they treat certain characters and lore nowadays, no matter if they're included or not. I hope I made myself clear.
