Kung Lao is and wlll always be overpowered.

as much as i hate fighting kung lao players, i hate fighting kano players even more...there are more than 2 moves dummies...

you hate crappy kano players lol. if i wanted to zone that much id pick noob (and i do, cuz his zoning is imo better). kano has great strings too which is sad they dont use it.

i do find it funny now tho, with the upball and knives nerfs, they ragequit when people who may have had a hard time with them now beat them.

if i play kano online and someone picks kano as well i constantly cut my strings short into choke both to prolong the fight and to harrass them. oh look another wakeup upball...block...combo..choke...lol

Kung Lao Spin Is Nothing Compare To Reptile Run Move . Because If Spin Blocked Kung Stunned Little And Can Receive Combo Back .
But If Reptile Extra Fast Run Is Blocked Then Reptile Just Stops Run But Not Get Stunned Nothing & Can Run Again Not Must Wait Anny Second !!! Or Can Block Immediately After After Stoped Running . It Is Really Little Stupid Because Almost Every Special On Block Have Little Stun ...
I Think Must Be Done Something . Oh But Maybe It Is Just Me Think This Way =)

One easy way to stuff Reptile's Elbow Dash is to block low and throw out a number of low pokes such as D+1, D+2, D+3, D+4 etc. Figure out which is fastest and you can keep cutting Reptile's momentum off if all they're doing is Elbow Dash. From there cross them up and show them what a combo is. =)

There are a number of character specific ways to deal with this (I wrecked a spamming Reptile with Sub-Zero's Ice Clone the other day), but that's the only universal way that I know of to deal with Reptile's Elbow Dash: low pokes and cross-ups.

Ignoring the trollspeak it seems to me right now that reptiles dash is as or more punishable then laos spin. It used to be prettymuch safe but now on block there is a recovery animation. Unless there is a oddly lengthy block stun with it I don't see how its not fully punishable now.

I hate when they use both Kano and Kung Lao when they spam the same moves like winning is everything in their life. C'mon. It's like in their mind that losing basically means the end of their world. I have no problem against Raiden and Reptile.

I find it funny how this thread has so many posts and still going. Is there really this much to talk about? I'm assuming these 5 pages of posts are all about Kung Lao. I mean dang, there's more posts here than on Kung Lao's character/strategy guide. Let this thread die.

Lol I've never really looked at Kung Lao's character guide, does this thread really have more posts then it does? That's actually really funny lol.

I think that might be an indication that maybe he is overpowered. dont you think?
but in all seriousness, I've just learned to deal with kung lao and move on, I roll my eyes when I see someone choose him online and I loose repect for that player, but whatever

Kung lao haters should stop being crybabies
Kung lao players should admit that they are noobs
NRS, nerf that sucker so we can all move on and be happy

Yeah, Kung Lao's thread hasn't even got past page 1. Yet this thread is already at 5+ pages, more to come.

Though Kung Lao is one of my favourite characters, I hardly have any respect for Kung Lao players in this game :/ unless they actually KNOW how to play him damn good, most just spam his kick and spin which honestly are very, very hard to punish, even after patches :/

The spin was hard to punish at first but NOW? post-patch, trust me you have all day to punish his spin. His divekick is an easy punish too. Just like Scorpion when he teleports to you, while you're stand blocking, and makes him roll in air for a minute. The only possible way I can see you losing is if you're trying to push too hard and not thinking then you will lose the match.

His diving kick is punishable if blocked, but it's still pretty damn good move from Kung Lao to catch everytime. His spin though, I haven't noticed that much changed. I did notice a slightly change of its efficiency. I have to try Kung Lao on and watch out. Easily the most annoying character to face online by someone who just jumps all around.

If you guys are having a hard time against Kung Lao, just learn Ermac and use him any time someone picks Lao. Unless they're really good at being unpredictable, Ermac is an easy win against Lao.

Just block and punish.

Once you get them across the screen from you, spam your projectile until they try to teleport (you can almost always see it coming...usually 2-3 projectiles), jump forward and teleport...sets you up for an easy juggle combo.

This would be a viable option if everybody online didnt counter pick. I've had people quit if I just scroll around the characters until they pick or atleast move the cursor. Does everybody do this?
I'll usually go into a fight knowing who I'm going to use and go straight to that person. Why wiat? I dont get it /rant

But on topic. I've to be really patient with K.L. after patch he can be punished. But Raiden, he's easily the most annoying character to play online with his tele, superman and corner combos. I honestly hate playing him.
Kano well before patch it was almost unfair against a spammer. Knives had little recoil and because the upball and knives involved the same input but reversed they'd have an upball ready before a tele finished.

nerfing should stop, the game is fine as is, i have no trouble with kung lao..and if i lose to a good kung lao, i accept it...Obviously hes god tier, but who cares? I dont

i disagree. nerfing/buffing is a viable tool to promote better gameplay balance.

now what should stop is kneejerk reactions and downright stupid decisions on the balance end (bufing kano upball wasnt a needed change for example)

buffing/nerfing is fine, you just have to be careful with it!

This man speaks of sound principles lol. Nothing wrong with balancing the game, in fact many people like it lol, but it should be done with great care not just because people complain, not just because something looks too good/bad after a week, etc etc. I'm really hoping NRS keeps paying attention to this game, balancing it and whatnot. Going off half-****ed and nerfing/buffing things is not going to lead to balance though.

I like the changes and the fact that is near balanced, but the only thing I hate is when players only use like 1-2 moves and keep on using like there's no tomorrow and that not taking any effort to fully utilize all of their movesets. It's no fun when they keep spamming. Sooner or later, that strategy won't work that they'll wind up rage quitting on the spot.
