Kung Lao is and wlll always be overpowered.

Ok, meanwhile I was reading this thread I was playing an expert arcade ladder just 4 fun.
You know the most annoying thing? I'm playing on TAG and i'm fighting against Kung Lao & Raiden. THAT'S ANNOYING.
~ ok, the IA doesn't compare to a expert human player but, anyways :P

I hate Kung Lao, I can't find a way to defeat him with Sheeva. I think in a fighting game all the characters must have an option to defeat anyone but in this case I just can't find anything.

he shouldve never switched to cyrax that third set he has an insane mileena even though he lost the first 2 sets he shouldnt of switched.

he came really close as Cyrax though, would have been the most epic ending if he actually won as Cyrax too.

are Cyrax and Mileena usually characters that have less trouble with Kung lao anyway?

Saying that u are a GREAT KUNG LAO player is like bragging about lifting weights while using steroids.Or like winning a bicycle race while driving a car.U have an almost unfair advantage while playing with KL or Raiden.I wish ppl will get off of their high horse when they win with those characters.

Actually, I'd say the same thing applies to all the "super" characters. Characters like Kung Lao, Raiden, Reptile, Cyrax, Nightwolf, Kabal, and Kano, have such big advantages over the other characters in the tournament level, it's ridiculous. Until NRS nerfs them so that the other character's can actually compete with them at high level, they should be banned from tournaments, so that the other character's can actually have a chance to compete in a tournament. Character's like Jade, Kitana, Sindel, Sektor, Mileena, and Sonya, are all really good characters, but they don't ever get a chance to compete in a tournament, because they're all at such a big disadvantage against the super characters.

Reptile actually takes some fat skill to master.

so does Cyrax. Reptile and cyrax can be the some of the best characters in skilled hands, While kung lao is also the best, he is just too easy to master unlike the other characters commonly reffered to as the "best"

Okay you got a point there. But still, Kung Lao, Raiden and Kano, are not only powerful, are downright EASY to use. Same thing with Yun and Yang in SSF4, they're undeniably two of the best character's in the game, yet they're also EASY to use. That maybe why people complain about those two so much.

If kung lao is so easy to use/learn, and he's so OP... once again... why was there only 1 kung lao in top 8?

I know kung lao is "probably" overpowered. I'm not gonna say 100%. I've seen competitive games that don't change a DARN thing and the teir lists change as the meta-game changes.

SSBM Jigglypuff was lower mid tier for like 8 years straight. The last 3 years.... She's been top tier. And if you know anything about SSBM... it's been the same game since PAL back in like 2003-4(I think?). It gets zero patches. That's why I say "Probably" for kung lao.

I don't agree with the steroids analogy.

Steroids is considered cheating... so bypassing the rules of no steroids... and using them to get a edge.. is unfair.

However... using kung lao is not considered cheating... because... ANYONE can use him.

If steroids were legal, and you sign a paper stating you understand the consequences you do to your health by using it. I bet you every top athlete 95% will use steroids. You use the tools you are allowed to use to win... and that's not cheating.

Because you limit yourself by playing Sheeva... when you KNOW SHE IS CONSIDERED PRETTY LOW TIER. That's your fault. You handicapped yourself. No one told you to main Sheeva just because you like her and want to do well. Don't hate a kung lao player because he chose the tools he believed would help him win. The rules were set... kung lao is not banned... meaning... you handicapped yourself by picking sheeva.

Do not take away a kung lao's efforts in learning his character.

It's not right for a tourney to deny a person a chance to use a character even if they are top tier. Plus it wouldn't look like a legitimate contest as you are limiting players' options.

Plus, if those characters were banned, then the people at the tourney would be complaining that someone like Jade or Smoke would be overpowered. When would it end?!

EDIT: You do realize that Kitana is one of the only character who has a good shot at beating Kung Lao don't you? It's at least a 5-5

There was only 1 because everyone is probably sick of him just like most people on this site. Just because he is the most easy faceroll character doesn't mean everyone wants abuse him, to me it takes the fun out of the game when it takes no skill to be good with him

I'm not taking anything away from pl cuz he is amazing with lao but he is pretty broken tbh.

^I wouldnt call KL broken but I can save some time and say the next argument here will be 'fun is not a rule, it's something you made up and you've handicapped yourself with your own beliefs'...etc so on.

So... you dont respect people because they use a character you cant handle, haha that's so dumb...

That's the spirit!

Really.I kick KLs ass A LOT.Its a shame that low skilled players are still a challenge with him.U main subzero.. go get your ice clone on.

U read to much into the steroids thing.I think the bicycle example fits.Incase anyone missed it.Winning with KL is like bragging about winning a bicycle race using your motorcycle...

Kung Lao is not that ****ing hard!

I feel u.I played the IMORTAL ANGEL recentley and i raped his scorpion in tag but it was all in vain cause his raiden wiped me out.I have SO MUCH respect for allthe other players...even u noobs that play with Liukang and do the 3 button 35% damage combo.

Ok... Are motorcycles allowed? If they are I'd have to say everyone using a bicycle In a race where a motorcycle is allowed is an idiot.

But you have to be kidding a motorcycle vs a bicycle is a 10-0 match up. Kung Lao is no where near that much better. Quit using extreme analogies that are pass the borderline of exaggeration. It's not helping your argument.

Sorry but the way you talk about Kung Lao you make it sound like it's zero effort. Are you talking about at a noobs level? Pro level balance is all that matters and I'm hard pressed to say kung Lao isn't some easy character you can just pick up and win a tournament with easily. Kung Lao does have plenty of weaknesses, he just has tools that require you to play against him differently. As in like... Never jumping in on him or get spinned? There are times it'd safe to jump, it's just not as often as scorpion ect. If you waited for spin and got hit you didn't wait long enough thats your fault. Not the spin. It whiffed you were meant to punish. Do you want like EVERY move to be easily punished like scorpions teleport? That's you wanting the game to change to make things easier for you. Not for tr sake of balance I'll say it again. I believe spin is fine, of there is a problem it's in his mix up game.

its actualy pretty common for players in games to handicap themselves with there own code of conduct.
