Kung Lao is and wlll always be overpowered.

His teleport is the only thing I have to look forward to as Johnny Cage. He's absolutely horrible to fight against. Imo, just make his spin more punishable. Make it have a wayyy longer recovery time, because as is there's pretty much no drawback to using it. You can block immediately after! :( It makes me sad. :___(

I have a tough time as well to beat Kung while playing as Cage. You can punish his hat throws and hat spin with his dash kick (forgot the exact name atm), it will go through projectiles as long as the other player is close enough for it to connect, otherwise it hits you. If they are too far away for the standard one you can use the EX one, it goes full screen.

I usually switch to Kano or Liu Kang to punish them with projectiles if they pick Kung again.

Kano is one of the best to deal with Kung Lao players; because majority of Kung Lao players are afraid to miss a dive kick, a teleport or a spin, all punishable hard by Kano Up Ball, if those moves miss .... Kung Lao cannot dispute directly with Kano a projectile war, since the excelent Kano's projectile speed ..... Kung Lao rely too much on his spin and 1121 combo, while Kano has more default combos and more options ..... Kano can grab and choke a Kung Lao player that spam dive kick, and if Kung Lao players abuse his low hat , Kano can simple jump forward and hit with his air cannonball .....

A well played Kano is an efficient antidote against a Kung Lao player.

Well, atm Kano is as OP as Kung Lao with his damn UpBall...2 broken characters facing each other

Err... no Kung Lao players made top 8 at Revelations and CEO. If Kung Lao was really OP then he would've won both tournaments, right? But he didn't. (and CEO was pre-patch)

If KL is OP, then Kano, Raiden, Kabal and Reptile are SUPER OP.

Guys, you need to stop including Raiden in your OP/broken list. Raiden is not as godly as many people think he is. Yes his teleport is awesome, but his torpedo even if it is fast don't have priority over other moves(kung lao's spin during the first frames animation, kano's canon ball at any time,...) Yesterday a Nightwolf stoped my torpedo with a single punch. His electricity is very slow to come out etc...
In my opinion, Kano, Reptile and Kung Lao are way more dangerous than Raiden.

I love the misinformed people in here. Both kung lao and kano have had there broken moves adjusted tyvm. Kungs spin had 90% of its pushback taken so if u can't punish it now ur bad. Upballs recovery on block is equivalent of how it was before it was buffed so if u can't punish it again ur bad. Raidens bnb strings werw nerfed and reptiles recovery on blocked dash is huge now.

No. My game is still broken, you know that the patch is only for US PS3 players right?
And I'm pretty sure Kano's UpBall is broken even in your game, NRS didn't release any hotfix after the patch.

Hm sorry I forget that xbox and europeans got screwed on that. Pretty sure upball is. Fixed tho. Can't chek till tommorrow tho :-(

But I still stand by my post. Even if u haven't gotten it yet u know what ur getting so making a post of it is pointless. Its like saying today is op when u know tommorrow is coming and dixing it. There is no if only when.

While planning for future matches against Kung Lao should really take into the consideration the effects of the upcoming patch and the hotfix that will follow since they're just over the horizon, at the present yes, only US PS3 players have the patch and even they don't have the hotfix yet.

I hate fighting Kung Lao online. People abuse his hat spin, ground hate and sliding jump kick. I personally don't even use him much. Just maybe I will more and see how I do with him online.

I main Sub-Zero and have never really had much trouble with Kung Lao. Admittedly I've not played against any All-Pro Kung Laos, but I'm hearing people have problems with even the mediocre Kung Laos. I zone him really hard, keeping Ice Clones in front of me and if I feel he's going to teleport, I step in front of it and he may end up frozen. I can 2,2 him out of his teleport on reaction and after awhile they stop using it as much. The Dive Kick can give me some trouble if I sleep on it, but 2,2 has a great hitbox so I can slap him out of the air if I see the kick coming. Sitting back and zoning also gives me more time to react to his projectiles. Ducking puts me under his Hat Throw and let's me easily block his Ground Hat or I can jump over the Ground Hat to avoid the chip damage. His Spin is still really good but it's harder to use when I'm playing keep away. If you manage to keep your distance really well for the first round a lot of the Kung Laos I've played will start getting frustrated and the second half of the next round will be nothing but mistakes and over-aggression.

If I come across a really good Kung Lao then the odds are good that I could use this strategy and still get smacked down, but I find it's worked pretty well for me thus far.

It seems that no matter what character I choose to fight with, he/she eventually gets categorized as "overpowered" by people who don't know how to fight him/her.
Kung Lao was the first character I learned, and obviously he became the #1 "op" character because a guy who is good at the game said so.
Then I decided to be Kano because no one else online ever picked him, and he was my main in MK DC. About a month ago I would get laughed at when I chose him online. Now HE'S considered "op" because everyone is too stubborn to stop jumping into combos to avoid his upball.
NOW I'm using Jax because I'm tired of the whining whenever I win with Kung or Kano. Will Jax become an "op" character too????!
Just learn to change your gameplan...quit using the same strategy for every fight. When I play a Kung Lao, I hardly jump and I know his combos so I know when to duck block and regular block. I really think this whole "op" thing stems from people needing someone to blame for losing other than themselves.

I definitely see your point. A lot of people are resistant to any kind of change and a s--t-ton of people don't accept responsibility very well. That translate into video games as well. Kung Lao and Kano are both very strong, but I'm willing to bet most people just aren't playing against "OP" characters properly. Yes, some characters are less balanced than others, but it takes time and practice to learn how to fight against well-piloted fighters, regardless of whether it's Kung Lao or Raiden or Baraka.

you sound quite biased sine he is your main. not only is super man redic fast like reptiles charge but his teleport is retarded too. its a completely guessing game with raiden and the only way to beat him is if you a: guess right on teleports b: have no lag (offline) c: fighting a noob

i know its hard to admit your main is broken but raiden is a joke

I think you're just one of those people who gravitate naturally towards OP characters. Kano will be perfectly fine once upball is fixed.

IMHO, I don't think you should be changing your main to anyone else other than the person you are comfortable with. Why are you sacrificing gameplay + fun just to prove a point? You have nothing to prove to anyone. Kung Lao got nerfed on the last patch, so if you want to fight as him, go for it. If you like playing Kano, pick Kano. I've never heard anyone claim Kano to be 'OP', and I've never seen anyone pick him and become some undefeatable god of mortal kombat. People are going to find any excuse they can to blame someone or something else for their loss other than themselves. I think that definition should fit the term 'scrub' too...someone who does not hold themselves accountable for their own actions as opposed to dealing with a loss in order to learn and get better at the game. I learned the hard way not to jump around Kano. I think you should just ignore the trash talk and pick who you are good with. No use going off trying to please people online --- people, I might add, whom you may never see again.
