Kotal Kahn: To Be or Not to Be

I don't have the videos, but here they are:

D'Vorah: "It's now time for you to do it."
Raiden: "I can protect you, D'Vorah."
D'Vorah: "Protection? It's pointless!"

D'Vorah: "Kotal..."
Kotal Kahn: "With which face do you see me?"
D'Vorah: "There is no power greater than ours!"

So Kotal and Mileena have been at war for the Throne for 10 yrs!

-Kotal seems to be a Legit Leader. Is he a Power Hungry Tyrant? Or is he "For the People" by any means?

-Is Raiden possibly helping Kotal, bc he is the Lesser of 2 Evils? (The other being Mileena currently, not taking away from Kotal Bad Ass Ness)

Kotal is the new protector of out worl . Though instead of standing on the side lines and influencing like raiden does, he chooses to get his hands dirty and rule out world himself, rather than appoint an untrustworthy ruler. His only request, blood sacrifice.

Those seem to imply that she is probably going to be overtaken by the blood demon thing from the comic.

Ayyyy, my Ontario boy comes through! Lol Shout out to our province for always having the exclusive stuff! I haven't seen this intro anywhere but I'll take it at face value because we're from the same place! :-p

Kotal is the most interesting new character so far. We finally see someone else on the throne of Outworld and I see it as a welcome change. I was really growing tired of seeing Shao Kahn everywhere. But unfortunately, apparently Ermac has his soul. I can see Kotal forming a rivalry with Ermac at some point. What if Reiko and Mileena team up with Ermac to take down Kotal? Reiko is still loyal to Shao Kahn, I assume. It would be an uneasy alliance. Reiko wants the throne, but hes loyal to Kahn, meanwhile Mileena wants the throne for herself, and then theres Kahns soul in Ermac probably fighting for control. Itd be interesting to see how that turns out lol

Shao Kahn is my all-time favorite boss character in Mortal Kombat but I hope he does not make an actual in game appearance. I'm scared for that, though, considering how NRS is bringing back characters that are popular. Then again, how cool would it be to see Kotal Kahn vs Shao Kahn in an epic battle?

I get the feeling KotalKahn is the one who unleashed the blood demon thing in the comics due to his misuse of the dangerous blood magic mentioned in the preview.

The blood demon's already running around, and I have my doubts Kotal vs. Goro will be a flashback.

Well, we certainly did see about Kotal. I'm curious now: What did you think of him?!

You know, I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or pleased with Kotal Kahn's back story.

It's strange, I really like that he's a fleshed out character, possibly THE most fleshed out in MK lore as of now, but at the same time I gguess I was kind of hoping that he was actually a God protector of a different realm like Raiden and the Elder Gods had reassigned him to Outworld after Shao Kahn's death. Truthfully that would have been a bit on the boring side but eh, the only reason I got that impression initially was because of the names of his variations.

I like that he's not a one note asswipe like most of the MK characters are so far, and my initial impressions about him being slightly shady were pretty off.

BUT I firmly believe that his ideas about winning at any cost is going to bite him in the ass in the fight against Goro when he uses the blood magic. I'm thinking that Kotal's speech takes place WAY before the first issue and that his REAL reason for begging for Earthrealm's help is because he goofed up and unleashed the blood demon.

I base that idea on the fact that the whole speech is about crushing Mileena's allies wherever they are and then Goro's going to challenge Kotal, Kotal wins thanks to the blood magic, unleashes the demon, Kotal says "Oh snap, I'm gonna need some help fixing this", Kotal goes to Earthrealm and the rest we all know.

I agree with you on Kotal Kahn's origins. It is very fleshed out for a character in this series, especially considering the fact that this is his debut. Kudos to Netherrealm Studios for that. You know, though, with all this stuff about blood being linked to him, it opens the door for more recent characters to come in, namely Nitara and Skarlet. It would be cool to see them do something with him, especially Nitara since she comes from the vampire race.

So, questions for everyone to ponder...

1. Will Kotal's father be killed and end up being the "unimaginable loss?"
2. Will any of his allies betray him and if so, who?
3. Is it likely Kotal Kahn will kill Reiko?
