Kitana Revealed!

The more I learn about Kitana, the less I like her. I feel like she's most effective when she's at mid/full screen spamming fans and then converting. She doesn't really have a lot of options to open her opponent up. One low starter, a slow overhead that doesn't lead into anything and a bunch of fast hitting mids. She's a strong character but I don't think she's the right fit for me.

I might drop her :(

If you want to rushdown, try Ethereal Mileena, she has godlike anti wakeup setups.

yes because she's primary a zoner not a rushdown character imo

Yeap, you're right, but she's enough for me and i will truly master her...
I love to fight from long distances and royal storm is perfect for me. The fan-nado of this variation is great and you can connect air combos easily... Then with the fan throw you can keep the opponent in the air and extend the combos... (the only problem is the damage and i hope they fix it a bit).
I cannot say the same of assassin and mournful, since they don't have the long fan-nado and it's really hard to start an air combo.... I've already left them, they're not useful for me, but you will see I'm gonna be amazing with royal storm one day, and I'm pretty good now...
 
Calling all Kitana mainers (and [MENTION=16316]Last_Starfighta[/MENTION])! I have discovered how to combo midscreen in Kitana's Mournful variation! Start with a Jump in punch, then do her air floating thingy, then NJP, then right after that do 21 EX Boomerang/fan lift or F33 EX Boomerang/fan lift or F43, 3Fan lift. Running is essential to extend this combo, as is her fan lift. I suggest running then using one of the previous string before doing a fan lift, and you choose the rest depending on your positioning. Shadow kick, Staff Grab, and EX Staff (to keep opponents in corner and if you have the meter to spare) should always be used as combo enders.

Sorry, mournful variation is basically jade with the fan lift, I couldn't play with jade never so i can't play now with this variation, so i won't be using it...
Changing topic i could finally improve my combo to 27% damage!
 
Do you play Royal Storm only?

EDIT: 41% Royal Storm and Assassin corner 1 meter (42% with JIP)

B12 - EX fan toss - 212 - fan lift - JIK3 or 4 fan toss - fan toss - throat slice.

Finally got it for PC! I play Royal Storm all day. It totally fits my gameplay style.

[MENTION=17744]Elias6999[/MENTION] yes, I only play with Royal Storm.... I can´t do anything with the other 2, because my combos always start with the mid-screen fan-nado which isn´t available there... I´m playing Erron, Goro and Sub-zero too, but Kitana´s my main of course...

Mournful is all about meter management and setups and mixups. It's not close range, nor far. Royal storm is pretty powerful too, combos don't suffer from fan lift scaling in this variation unlike in the others.
 
Run canceling is essential for Mournful. Most of her BnBs require it.

Glaive actually fares better than fan in certain situations. First, Glaive hits mid so it can't be ducked(fan hits high). Second aerial glaive is ideal for match ups against strong zoners. Correctly me if I'm wrong but she's one of the few characters that has a downward aerial projectile. The downside to Mournful is you can't convert off a landed glaive and most of her stuff requires meter.

I know it's not the popular choice but don't give up on Mournful just yet. I have a feeling this variation is going to surprise a lot of people.
 
I can't play Mournful. It reminds me Jade isn't in the game, and Kitana wielding it is just not the same. Not just because it's Kitana, but also because it's only (some of) Jade's special moves she got. She doesn't use the staff in any of her normals.
