Kinda thought it was Jax at first, in the Flying Knee picture, until I translated it to "Wrestling-Kano with the Flying Knee" on that picture description.

The 2nd (bottom) picture DOES look more like him, though.

As for the chest orb that Kano has on, it looks surgically implanted and nothing like his MK3 costume, like Jax's MK9 arms, IMO.
Hsu Hao was also a Mongolian grappler and Kano has a "Wrestling" variation, so I could see where it may be a nod to him.
Also the cybernetic chest implant gave Hsu Hao enhanced strength.
How do we know that Kano doesn't suffer a tragedy in MK X, and gets this orb implanted, which makes him stronger, like Jax's cybernetic arms in MK9?
 
I was hoping for a better character design. Something that stood out more besides his eye, cuz as of now all he has going that differentiates him from everyone else is his chest glowy which I think we can all agree isnt super awesome looking.

Heres hoping that once we actually get to see him in motion and hi-def his details will pop out and not look so drab and bland

If Ed was serious about clones identifying each other, some characters like Scorpion and Sub-Zero (who are direct rivals) will likely have 5 intros.

I.E --

P1 Scorpion to Sub-Zero -- "MURDERER." "I tire of maintaining our innocence"...... etc, etc, etc, etc
P1 Sub-Zero to Scorpion -- "Shirai Ryu Dog".... etc, etc, etc, etc
P1 Sub-Zero mirror match
P1 Sub-Zero to different characters
P2 Sub-Zero to different characters

Im pretty sure on his twitter, Ed Boon confirmed that every character has a unique voice line for every other character, so they'd have close to 30.

Probably the same 2 or 3 animations, just changed voice clips.

True, but if they have 30 clips each, then that's 30 different lip synchs too.
It doesn't matter for masked characters, but it does for maskless characters.
 
:/ the design looks really boring to me. his UMK3 look with bald head and awesome black dragon uniform and neon glowing knives was much better its kinda frustrating theyve never done him as good as that since then. every kano since then has been like 10 steps back imo. i also liked his move set better in umk3 that knife lunge was awesome. Kano is one of my mains in UMK3 but ive never been able to get into any of the versions since coz he just dosent handle as good in terms of controlls and move set.

also the fact he has a lazer eye and its never used in his move set is a huge missed opportunity i was very disappointed in mk9 kano the controlls were just weird and the move set was dull.

i thought with the timeline going forwards 25years it would be a perfect opportunity to give him back the bald look and also glowing knives since its more futuristic and technically advanced. so yeah judging by these pics its another disappointing kano
 
That would be awesome if Kano had a UMK3 alt that made his knives also look like UMK3. They should alter how some of the specials look with alt costumes. Classic Scorpion should have a rope spear.

I really like his shirtless look. I looks pretty old too. However I do not like his chest implant. I don't care people dislike Hsu Hao, Hsu Hao had a chest implant and that was unique to him. I hate when they take moves or clothing from other characters to give to others within the franchise. Kano didn't actually need any of it and he NEEDS to have his eye laser.

I love MK9 Kano though, but I wish his knives were more like his MK3 counterpart...
