is the game TOO fast?

Judging by the trailers MKX is far from being too fast. Look at UMK3 I get my walked all over because my opponents are bouncing all over the screen! UMK3 isn't even that fast compared to other fighting games.

I do agree with it feeling a little floaty though compared to MK9 the hits could feel a little heavier but not bad enough for me to complain about

They should appeal to the competitive, because that in turn balances is for casuals.

Casuals don't care just HOW deep and meaningful the game can become, until they decide they want to win and explore their options.

Appealing toward only casuals auto-locks out competitive people. However catering toward competitive but leaving it somewhat simple at a low level, makes a nice game for both parties.

No doubt. Never said it should appeal only to "casual" fans...but to be fair, there's a massive grey area between a casual and a competitive user.

A majority of people do. Compared to other games tournaments at EVO and other fighting tournaments, the people watching the Tekken tournament are considerably less than that of SF4, MK9, Persona 4 Arena, etc..

Why do you think it was taken off of the main game tournament for this year's EVO?

Same with Soulcalibur. 3D fighting games are MUCH slower than any 2D or 2.5D, fact of the matter is a lot of people think 3D games boring/slow and thus why they are less popular in the competitive gaming area.

Also, I never said SF4. I meant other SF games which are much faster and still popular.

Tekken was added to the list of EVO games this year. And it wasn't popular anymore because it's very hard to learn. Most of 3D games are hard too. There're too many moves and shit for new players to learn... That doesn't mean Tekken is slow, the game is faster when you know how to play it, know how to play footsie, use backdash cancel and wave dash,... SF4 revived the FGC, that's why it's the most popular FG, it has nothing to do with being fast or slow, and SF4 is slow (but still can be changed, depends on some MUs tho).
SF3 wasn't popular, just saying, many people hate it because of the roster, some people hate it because they think parry ruined mind game zoning, etc... tbh many people know it because of the famous daigo moment. Like i said, SF4 revived the FGC.

This x 1000!!!

In all honesty, I was just hoping the gameplay would be better and actually add more things THAT ARE NEW. But to me I hate how it borrows things from Injustice and has a few new things(Variations).

*Sigh* That was my biggest fear, MKX feeling like Injustice.

This. Perfect example, Smash Bros. Brawl.

It probably just seems fast because they have people who know how to play the characters showing us the footage. Once the controller is in your hand the game won't be fast any more.

Also the fact there are new characters we don't know how to play or what to expect means we are trying to process new info. Which makes it look faster.

I don't know why anyone is getting the "MK X feels like Injustice" vibe.
Why?
Becasue of throwable interactibles?
Need I remind everyone that MK4 had throwable interactibles before injustice, too?
They were skulls and boulders on the floor that you threw.
The only difference is that in MK X they are now blockable.

As for swinging off the tree branches (Snow Forest) and swinging from the rope (The Cove), both of those escape moves can be punished as can be seen with Sub-Zero closing the gap between him and Scorpion (by dashing / running) in the Snow Forest level.

MK X, IMO, is at the speed that MK9 should have been at.

This game doesn't even look fast at all. It was easy to see what was going on. Even games like Marvel are easy to keep track of. I honestly can't see what OP is talking about.

And to Sub-Zero, actual gameplay after release usually looks faster because they're not just showing things off... Like, watch MK9 pre-release gameplay and then a high level Kabal match.

Pre release MK9 gameplay.

Only like a minute is needed of each, lol, but see what I mean?

After release gameplay is a lot faster because we know how to move and how to play the characters etc. So, MKX will probably play a bit faster than shown.

But in my opinion the game looks faster when you're not the one playing it. When I'm playing I'm aware or exactly half of what's going on because I'm the one doing it. So I only need to process 50% of what I see.

When I watch two people play I'm trying to process what two characters are doing.

It's not that the game is faster today than it will be tomorrow, it's just that you are trying to process so much more at one time when you're watching two people play.

Yeah, I suppose so. It doesn't really make a difference to me, but I understand what you mean. The thing is, during a lot of the MKX gameplay, one character stayed still and let the other hit them, so not that much was actually happening.

I think a lot of it comes from recognition of the moves. We don't know the attacks and the animations so it's harder to see what's happening because you don't know what you're looking for.
