IGN bashing the game already

I love the Dc characters. :)

I won't hold it against anybody who does. One of my good friends is a fan of Superman. Personally, I enjoy some Batman-related media from time to time, but not enough that I want to buy every movie, game, or comics that he appears in.

Some MK fans couldnt handle the criticism of the review, but I think you're blowing it out of proportion as that being the reason for the lack of respect MK fans give them. I mean sure they gave MK9 a score of 8, I personally wouldnt give it anything higher than an 9 at all. Its a flawed game and everyone, even MK fans should accept that. However it's just IGN's overall clueless attitude toward the series that MK fans can easily pick up on. Or at least that's how I see it.

Not to mention how in the article they are stupidly bashing Injustice for not being as violent as MK. Which leads me further to believe that the only thing IGN ever saw in MK9 was just the violence, fatalities, and x-rays and not the gameplay. As an MK fan I can spot these types of people who only play this game for the violence and or Kratos, and IGN just seem like those type of people.

You are missing the big picture if you feel the need to lecture me about IGN's sins against NRS. My point is video game publications across the board are sub-par when it comes to writing reviews, not just IGN. Years, ago there was an article on 1UP comparing Virtua Fighter to Tekken; it was no surprise which series was favored given 1UP's biases..and it was questionable if the the author understood either game. Some reviewers write much better than others, but at the end of the day you cannot take the human element away from the review. Why people care so much about it is beyond me. I learned to take reviews with a grain of salt, whether it expresses positive or negative attitudes towards a game in question.

^cause at the end of the day it's the consumer who decides whether the a game is good or bad in their eyes

Yeah but you ever had that friend where you guys have always digged the same music or same type of movies?
Almost never disagree?

Well I have.

If you can find a reviewer who shares a majority of your bias, it could be a strong tool for you in saving money

*Shrug* I always end up being around people who are different from me with limited common ground.

Nevertheless, you raise a good point, especially if a prospective consumer is on the fence. With that said, I guess people that do take stock in reviews should look for someone like them instead of raging over someone that values different facets of games or whatever product of interest.

I occasionally ask for suggestions, but I mostly try to gather what information I can before making a decision.

"Although this isn't a Mortal Kombat game, it seems to me like it's going to leave people in the exact same spot. This is a T-rated fighter that looks a lot like Mortal Kombat, but it's lacking the brutality that makes that game standout."

completly agree.
they should be doing the next mk. if this is going to be a 2013 release, then that means there prolly wont be another mk game til 2014-15 which sucks balls. bc i dont picture nrs doing 2 titles at once.

i dont see why trmk is even posting the news for this game. its trmk not trdc.
yea nrs is working on it, but has nothing at all to do with mk.

just wanna stay on wb's sack i guess

I have read every comment in this thread and this is exactly what I thought when this game showed up on this site. I mean is this TRMK or just a WB NRS site now? I don't think this stuff belongs here. One because it's not MK and two because I could care less about DC comics. Guess this could be thrown in general discussion but it appears Injustice is gonna get the full Ed Boon treatment. As for IGN well the dont know much anyway

Or perhaps some news that has any small relation to MK/NRS is better than NO NEWS AT ALL.

and if you're looking for gameplay/tournament news you should be going to Test your might.

Just because you don't like Dc don't mean everyone thinks the same way. (clearly I don't I love Dc) And the reason this is on here is because of its relationship with Mk i.e. Nrs. If you don't like it no one is forcing you to reply to it.

Lol, I'll continue to play MK9 till number 10 arrives since all the other upcoming fighters are too teeny imo.
I need mature stuff in my games ;)

(enter whitty comment about gaming is not mature here...)

I like fighting games and this new IP looks promising, but i'm a Mortal Kombat fan above all and part of me is unhappy they are making this before the next MK game, but like i said this title does have potential.

Well honestly I can't blame them the whole game seemed very disappointing , it almost seemed like it was stating the obvious fact that is: DC characters don't belong in a fighting game.

DC characters don't belong in a fighting game.

Then where do they belong?

Do you know exactly what happens in almost every episode of a Batman cartoon, almost every comic of Superman?
They fight. Thats what heroes do, fight bad guys. I think it makes perfect sense that these fighters be in a fighting game.

Exactly, and Harley's in it, the game has potential.

They belong in their own franchises like batman arckham city/asylum super man 64

They don't have to copy Marvel.

In their own franchises?
They mix all the time. Ever hear of the Justice League?

I relies that...

All I'm saying is that dc characters to ME don't make a good fighting roster and won't make a good fighting roster no matter who the developers are.

Just because you can't see any potential in DC characters, doesn't mean there isn't any. The DC characters have a ton of potential and NRS is capitalizing on that.

The character designs are the new age ones and look top notch, the gameplay looks very promising, the story is going to be unique and nothing less than amazing, I fail to see how the game is going to fail......

I agree the game could be very good but it will never replace MK . WB is somewhat suspect imo because there first MK game was MK/DC not really MK. Now there producing this DC fighter instead of MK10. I question weather they feel they same about MK as we do. The sooner we get some news on a new MK game the better i'll feel, because right now Injustice is there focus.

I think Nrs working on Injustice is good in a way. Injustice serves as a testing ground where they are trying out new ideas and concepts and if it is well received we will see it carried over to MK10 as well. For example I really thought promising was how there was multiple ways to use 1 bar of meter, same with 2,3 and so on. It also gives them a bit of time to breathe and think out better ideas and concepts for MK. Plus by then new engines like unreal engine 4 would become available for use and they could make use of it.
