Hey... uh.. you all. What's your thoughts on THIS one?

Thanks for sourcing me Commander.

However

Right, yes. It never ceases to amaze me with the speculation that goes on. We love our fans and stuff like that and it's great that they're so into it but it just blows my mind when somebody hears 'Cassie Cage is in the game...' and then they assume that means 'well Sonya is not in the game!' and I don't know where they draw that conclusion and then they go 'Well if Sonya is not in the game that means Cassie is going to be a version of Sonya and she's gonna be skinned'. It's amazing but my advice would be don't speculate on that kind of stuff. *laughs*

He was just talking about the disgruntled people "making assumptions" and being disgruntled about assumptions.

He never said skins won't/couldn't happen. He's just baffled at the fans auto-assuming such a thing.

Which I agree, no one should assume anything. That's ridiculous. Subzero and Frost shared a freeze move when they were together. Why cant cassie and Cage share a nut punch. It's just 1 move, and even then you could change the speed of the move or what it does to the opponent to make them different still.

I could definitely see Frost being a skin for Sub-Zero. A female working with masculine animations isn't as awkward as a male with feminine animations (like people mentioning Johnny as a skin for Cassie), so they wouldn't need to redo any of the mocap for her. Her hitbox would be smaller too, so if Sub-Zero is tournament viable, we'd see most people use the Frost costume.

I could definitely live with that. I just want her in. I really think NRS should just prove most wrong by making her amazing and unique. I do not doubt it is creatively possible.

She being skin for Sub-Zero / Being NPC in Story Mode / Challenge tower would be ok, but as playable character she would be the most wasted slot in the MKX so far.

I tweeted Shaun Himmerick about the Frost picture, asking if it was fake or real, and I haven't had any response on it. He was pretty quick to respond when I asked about the Tanya/Shinnok screens, saying they were fake, but he either hasn't come around to addressing my Frost tweet, or there may be something about it after all, and he just avoids addressing it.

The longer that passes without them saying no, the better I feel about her being in. They debunked the fake Tremor and Tanya stuff within a day. This has been up for several. I'm sorry if people feel this is a wasted slot, but I personally wanted her as dlc last time and she was a decent contender for a while. She deserves at shot a redemption.

Go play Killer Frost in Injustice, same thing really. We certainly don't need a roster slot wasted on a Sub-Zero clone with tits.

I don't think you guys truly understand what a clone is...

I'll just leave these here...

It's funny, because these two are considered clones too:

And they look even less alike than Frost and Subbie.

Again I don't think you know what a clone really is in FGC terms or real life terms.

And again:

When people say "clone" they don't mean literally a clone as in a direct copy made from that person's DNA.
Just like when people call Ermac, Rain and Reptile for "ninjas" they don't mean actual ninjas.

You really don't get it, do you? I don't mean a clone in the literal sense, when I use the term 'clone' I'm referring to the fact that Frost & Sub-Zero are almost identical in terms of appearance & special abilities. I didn't say they were EXACTLY the same.

ITT: People who are convinced that Sub Zero is the only character allowed to be a blue colored ninja with ice powers and that only Sub Zero's depiction of ice powers are the only way to do it.

For nay-sayers about Frost (and I'm not a particular fan of hers), I went into detail as to how Frost could be completely different from Sub Zero and it's like... none of the doubting Thomases are even acknowledging it.

To be fair, I'd rather see Frost in her MMA outfit though.

Also, there's nothing wrong with Frost being designed similar looking to Sub Zero. Did you all not see that ARMY of blue ninjas in the story mode trailer? Clearly the Lin Kuei have developed a uniform look over the years.

MK fans are so spoiled when it comes to the idea of "clones". Mortal Kombat is one of the only fighting games that doesn't have clones like others do. Tekken has the Mishimas, Smash Bros has Space Animals, Street Fighter has Shotos, etc.

And you'd think that's a great thing. But because MK characters are defined by their special abilities, this severely limits the creativity that NRS has when making a new character. MK fans are so quick to call something a clone when it actually isn't. This is what leads to them making characters like Dairou who shoot fire triangles out of their legs. MKX has new, interesting characters. But there are only so many tropes that NRS can play with if they want to keep appealing to their whiny fan base.

I find it funny that people call Frost a clone of Sub-Zero when they have different storylines, normals, combos, properties on shared specials, fatalities, genders and costumes. Simply put, if you think they're clones you don't know what you're talking about.

People who complain that the shotos of Street Fighter are all clones are out of their minds proper. I can definitely feel the difference between Ken and Ryu, Sakura and Goken, Akuma and Dan. They all have a similar fighting style and every single one feels so different that it'd be a noob mistake to use Ken like you're playing as Ryu.

But Frost can't ever EVER be in the game because she might throw an ice ball that might have totally different properties than Sub Zero. But cause she wears a blue suit and has some control over ice, she's automatically from here to the end of time, a clone of Sub Zero.
