Has Injustice Been Rushed?

BBBLP

Robot Rock
From an initial planned release of 'some time in 2013', many of us expected the highly anticipated super hero brawler to drop around Holiday next year. Possibly even a delay to 2014. However nobody expected to be told Injustice would be hitting shelves less than a year from it's first announcement trailer. And yet that is exactly what is happening. Does this mean we will be receiving a rushed fighter? Has WB heard the outcry from rabid Mortal Kombat fanatics and sees dollar signs elsewhere? What will this do to NRS reputation is they drop a mediocre fighter?

Did that look editorial like? I tried. Need to practice.

Anyway what are your thoughts on this. Seems strange that they'd drop 2 more characters out of nowhere with no screen shots or trailer to accompany them. Almost as if they're running behind a newly altered schedule.

I got this same vibe when they announced the release date even though it correlates with MK9's release month and the character reveals being released on various sites (Entertainment Weekly really?) with hardly anything on the official site.

The answer is no - they are building from an template; most of the technical work was already done. All they needed to do was sculpt and mold new characters/arenas, motion capture new moves, and come up with some sort of gimmick. I didn't include the story since DC is helping with the script and they are casting authentic voices from the animated movies. I think that they have cut out things that they thought was excess thus freeing up more time.

No, they did the same exact thing with mortal kombat. It was announced around the time of E3 and came out that following April, which is about a year later. I expected they would do the same with this game from the beginning too.

And MK9 didn't feel rushed to you? I guess it depends on long the game was in development.

MK did feel rushed but the games engine was basically already bult thanks to mk9 ...all it needed was some tlc for injustic

And MK9 didn't feel rushed to you?

While some aspects of the game could have been better, it didn't feel rushed at all to me.

For all we know they could've started it right after the release MK9. Like what rikolaw said, most of the game's foundation has already been laid. This would have cut the production time by month loads probably.

Injustice is based on the MK9 engine. This means the development time is shorter ( since they don't have to create a new engine from scratch ) so no its not being rushed.

Unlike the movie industry, the video game industry has fewer outlets to making money, and cannot depend heavily on distributing their previous works. It's safe to say that NRS got their next project underway shortly after finishing MK9, rather than sitting on their thumbs. By the time NRS got around to making Injustice known to the public, a good portion of the game is done already. Looking past flashy presentation and game-specific nuances, it's still based on the MK9 engine, so NRS didn't have to start from scratch. Personally, I'm not particularly excited about Injustice, but I won't go as far as say the game was rushed.

With the exception to the online being built on bad servers, it didn't feel rushed at all. It has so much more content then any other fighting game or any previous mk. It had minor flaws, but rushed def isn't the word for it. Mk vs dc universe is an example of a rushed game.

NRS is one of the few companies I know that invites high level pros to put in their input and play their game to fish out bugs.

And get some input.

I know for a fact Osu 16 bit is helping.

Much like Tom Brady helped with MK9

Except this time I think 16bit has to wait months before he's allowed to compete in it after release.

so my confidence is decent.

I wasn't gonna play this game initially, but if it's gonna be a part of the MK community why not.

the sooner Injustice gets thrown into the wild and falls on its face the sooner NRS can start working on Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Noob Saibot <3
