Goro and Release date revealed.

"Early Access DLC" is becoming an extremely common practice, because it works.

I own two games, WWE 2K14 and EA Sports UFC, that both had pre-order incentives. To get those incentives if you didn't preorder, you have to pay.

I'm gonna preorder, so I have no complaints there.

I bet Goro is the only on the disc DLC fighter we're getting. I doubt the game will be like SFXT where all of the DLC fighters were on the disc.

Might be a dumb question buuut....Why doesn't Goro have his sub-forum like the other confirmed characters?
I just sent Pat McCarron the pic for it (have been doing so for the last bunch of them), so the new subforum should hopefully be on its way.

This ain't the first time Goro has been playable. Mortal Kombat Deception Gamecube version and MKT ring any bells?

Glad Boon is bringing him back as a bonus.

It better not have all DLC in the disk already!!!
Kobra:

Also MK4/MKG (Hidden Character) and MKA.

MK9 had on disc DLC in the form of MK1 ninja costumes.
It also has Skarlett's alternate outfit.

Don't forget the MK3 females, wasn't Skarlet on disc too? They messed up the coding and she was free for a day when released

This is new generation. I could see it happen. They wouldn't be crucified. People would buy that dlc in an instant.

We only accept that from franchises we have come to expect it from (battlefield, CoD, Assassins creed).

Fighting games in general nowadays usually only have 1 or 2 at most.

Also the fact that MK is one of the few fighting games that doesn't have a shit ton of day one dlc helps out NRS A LOT.

Everyone is sick and tired of Capcom and their shitty business tactics, the farthest NRS can differentiate themselves from Capcom the better.

Also, no there is NO WAY that all those classic characters would be dlc, its just not gonna happen, that statement already completely negates the entire purpose of this debate. You will never see Street fighter restrict Ryu and Ken, you will never see Soulcalibur restrict Nightmare and Ivy, you will never see Tekken restrict Heihachi and Yoshimitsu, and you will never see MK restrict Liu Kang, Johnny and Sonya like that.

I see where you're coming from.

But the statement should be, "you'll never see NRS restrict Scorpion and Sub-Zero" which they haven't.
Despite the debates about Cassie, I still feel she is the potential replacement of Johnny Cage and Sonya Cage.
I'm having a hard time explainung why, but I have this gut feeling this might happen. Either way, I'd be fine with it.
As we already know, MKX will have dlc fighters. I'd assume they'll have around the same number MK9 and Injustice (and most likely costumes too). I'd expect the characters they choose won't directly be part of the core game's story.

Though I wonder, what would really piss you guys off? As with "On disc DLC" ?

If the game ships with between 24/30 characters from the getgo, I wouldn't mind DLC to be paid for at all even if its on the disc, it would still make NRS look less greedy then Capcom.

BUT If there's just 22/24 characters, i'll probably be a little bit pissed... I think NRS handled the dlc pricing (alright) pretty okay last time, as long as they are not going to charge you like 10$ for 1 character, which I think will never happen.

2$ for 6 costumes? count me in!
10$ for 5 characters? If it are characters I MUST HAVE, count me in!

I can see many people abusing him to win easily - especially online. Hopefully they somehow sort that out.

And has anyone thought what variations will he have?

WWE?
Flamethrower?
Whiplash?

Either he needs to be nerfed to the point of being Vega/Heihachi strength boss, or he needs to be disabled completely online (and I'm fairly certain he will be banned from tournaments). There are no other alternatives, since the integrity of competitive play is at stake here.

Why would Goro be banned from tournaments?

You guys are already assuming that he'll be OP just because of his size
We have no idea what moves he'll have, what properties they'll possess, how fast he will be or how much damage he'll do.

But instantly dudes are saying he should banned from online play? Stay classy MK community

They already said he'll play similarly to the grunts in Injustice (Grundy, Doomsday, Bane).
Why do we still have this nonsense that he'll have to be disabled online and in tournaments?

But being like those... doesn't that somewhat make him less... badass?

You've never seen Doomsday in Injustice then.
That dude is the epitome of badass. Every single one of his attacks look like they should be breaking bones. Especially his Supernova special.
