lol fair enough then, just found it a bit weird
as far as frost goes we have 4 characters with ice type abilities if you count the brothers and the cybernetic form too. (far too many)
I just don't see the need for it besides the fact that lin kuei members are almost always associated with ice now which is really annoying.

Thanks for the heads up. Sooo how and what should I do not to make it look like spam? Because I made this thread to gather people who like Frost aand I am not sure how does one do that without talking or showing media about Frost?

A. I don't want to create multiple threads for that.
B. It is not dedicated for fan art/fan fiction for the character. It is dedicated to gather people. What I am doing right now is making animation so to support idea for Frost. Kinda same way as people show support for Tremor. After he got an amazing fanart, his petition votes increased and well more people joined for the cause to put Tremor into MKX. Even made #FeelTheTremor
C. and yes I am not very good with gathering people for a single idea so right now trying to do my best with what I know or I can.

Ok mate calm down... I think we got on a wrong foot here.
I am sorry for making a double post last time. I didn't pay attention, cause it was very late and forgot to just simply edit my previous post. I will make sure that won't happen again. Again. I am very sorry about that. Not trying to do anything bad here. Just you know... trying to share my opinion. Unless I got on a wrong forum.
Also I don't think it is hypocrisy as I am suggesting people a different revamped version of Frost to be included in MKX. Which means she would look different and have different story line. For that I want to make some visual representation so people could see what I mean and so that could stand as base material for future discussions.
In other words this thread main point is to discuss about new Frost, but for that to happen it needs SOMETHING VISUAL so people could have more material to talk about that. That alone doesn't make this thread dedicated to fan art/fan fiction.

It's cool, don't worry about it there's worse threads here anyway i guess.. I should've just tried to avoid any conflict in the first place considering i knew what the thread was.. i just shouldn't have clicked on it lol (that may change if frost is somehow including or even hinted later though , which i doubt.)

I got my hands on MKDA today. And first thing I did.. I unlocked Frost... hmmm... you know I am really NOT surprised that a lot of people called her clone. She was really done poorly in MKDA. She has some nice set of moves which make her different from sub zero gameplay wise (but not enough).... but still she kinda feels like copy paste (just with female body).
So now I really doubt that Netherrealm would put her in any game at all. Considering the backlash she got in the past and well...
Mortal Kombat X so far showed very detailed characters. Every character is unique, so Frost has a very hard chance now to get into the roster. Even as DLC. Unless there is enough support from Frost fans and Frost herself is HEAVILY revamped in both gameplay and design.
Because if she is put again in Lin Kuei next to Sub zero.... yeah it doesn't fit with MKX from design point of view alone, not to mention story wise.
Even so there is one thing that could be done...

I don't mind Frost too much. At this point, they seem to be doing really well revamping characters. So maybe they can make a new and improved Frost that could win people over.

It's basically a rundown of a few things that he experienced when trying the game out at a recent expo. Anyway, the last paragraph he lists a few more dialogue exchanges from some of the fights he saw. The one that intrigues me is where a character tells Sub-Zero that he still thought SZ was frozen in a block of ice. SZ replies by saying something like, "Unlucky for you, I decided to thaw out."
Now this is complete theory and is probably completely wrong, but if SZ was frozen at some point during the 25 year story mode, who would be responsible for that? Frost could be a potential candidate, right? The young, arrogant pupil betraying and freezing her master.
I don't know, could be someone else. And this is going off some random dialogue that I am not sure the guy heard completely clearly.
Still, something to think about.

Yea that's been playing on my mind too.. i doubt it has anything to do with Frost but it could have something to do with the snow forest stage being in the game.
He probably set a trap on somebody during the 25 year timespan that went awry :/

Well yeah it could be... but... actually no. I hope that is not the case. If they will give her same or at least tiny bit similar backstory... f%^k it. Her MKDA, MKD, MKA storyline was a tragedy which shouldn't be repeated ever again.
If they just gonna repeat Frost story same way as original timeline, when why bother putting her at all.
As for Sub zero I think it is Bi Han. By "thaw out" he might mean that he got away from Quan chi's control, after Soulnado incident. Now he walks earth once again as Sub Zero.
This also brings in problem with Frost too. Because Frost joined only years later, then Elder Sub Zero became Grand Master. But now Elder Sub is gone (maybe still under Quan chi control). So everything has changed and Frost could be total opposite for all we know.
They could just use this opportunity to make new backstory for Frost.
P.S Almost forgot!

I think they could still run with the "arrogant pupil" angle they took with the original Frost. Because of the 25 year angle, they can actually make her succeed in taking the medallion this time and maybe take over a position of power during the absence of Sub-Zero. But when SZ is freed...well, she is going to be in deep shit, lol.
I think a lot of the complaints about Frost were probably more gameplay related than anything. If people are complaining about a character because of how they are done in personality or how well developed their storyline is...well, I think every MK character needs massive improvement in that regard, hah.
Still, this is all just pure theorycrafting at this point. Chances are she will probably not even make the cut. But who knows?

It is a fair point, but MK characters are also interesting not just because of how they look, but also if they have some good back story or potential.
To be honest if Frost back story would be same thing, but this time with "success" instead of "fail", I would be disappointed big time. Huge waste of potential story, which could have been created. I mean if you were to think about it.
Original timeline: she joins lin kuei, betrays sub zero, freezes him, then fails to control medallion and gets herself frozen.
New timeline: she joins Lin Kuei, (let's pretend sub is grandmaster, cause we don't know what happened this time), betrays sub zero, freezes him, succeeds in controlling medallion, runs away.
and then what? Sub zero corners and defeats her?
Barely any variation...
Personally for me that would be boring and I barely could see any difference.
I also very recently played with her on MKDA... well now I kinda understand lots of complaints
A. Gameplay wise she DOES feel different from sub zero, BUT not enough to feel unique.
B. Her design just screams copy paste sub zero (the only major difference is that she has frozen hair, which is cool, but it also was done poorly)
C. Back story so boring you barely find interest in her character.
For me as artist myself... she looks like something devs came up on last second. And it is a real shame cause she does have a huge potential.
So from this point. The only way (my personal opinion) to make Frost interesting and unique is a complete revamp of her character. Like from almost zero.
For example the way I am imagining her (picture coming soon). She has never joined Lin Kuei, but she has a grudge on Lin Kuei for burning her village in the past. She could be this lone avenger wearing a ripped blue cloth piece from Lin Kuei soldier she got when she was a kid (which she killed with her ice powers) during her village attack. Cause it is ripped and old she has that cloth wrapped like shaolin monks do (on one shoulder), and there are old blood stains on it which are from her parents. Also could have this broken Lin Kuei medallion attached to cloth.
And she is hunting down Lin kuei, but at the same time (to reference her original timeline dementia) she sees all ninjas in the same light as Lin Kuei = for all she cares every ninja can die. So she hates scorpion and sub zero equally. And instead of being arrogant student she could have already mastered her powers, but utilize them in different way, as she believes that freezing her opponent (especially ninja) is like giving mercy, so they need to feel all the pain. But not in sadistic way. She could just be very brutal (but fast) with her methods. Fire ice sickles from her elbows into opponent's face and make them scream in pain, while she punches them in the face again so to make ice sickles go deeper.
In short. I think that Frost needs a fresh new start. If she is to leave her copy paste past behind.

I agree that a full revamp would be welcome and not just for Frost, but a lot of the DA/D characters.

And yeah, making her a faster character than SZ might be a good approach for them to take. Not sure why, but they have kind of gravitated towards a more methodical SZ ever since DA. Rather than a quick and nimble ninja-type character, SZ looks more like a jacked dude who could crush stone with his bare hands. Even his attacks seem more slow and powerful, rather than quick...which I guess kind of fits the whole ice motif.

I don't know. I think if it were up to me, I'd cut most of those MKDA/MKD characters loose. Kenshi was the best of the bunch, and he's already been revamped. Bo Rai Cho, Havik seem poised to make a return as per a few MK9 endings. I'd personally like to see Drahmin and Hsu Hao back (though I know we won't). MAYBE Nitara or Ashrah.
The rest? No.
That being said, I'm not 100% opposed to having Frost back. I liked using her in MKDA and there was an interesting dynamic between her and Sub-Zero. If they could keep her from being a straight Sub-Zero clone that'd be great.
As long as she isn't a redundant character. That's about the biggest beef I'd have with her coming back.
