Finishing Moves (Other than Fatalities) and 2 secret characters?

My reputation is intact around these parts; I'm a member of the gaming media, having worked at IGN for a decade now. I have zero reason to lie about it. :)

That said, I'm pretty certain it was 1) with Shaun, 2) with a lesser-known website than the GameSpots of the world, possibly a foreign website and 3) at a convention -- I recall there being a busy atmosphere. E3? PAX?

I don't remember questioning your 'reputation' unless you were just using my request for legitimacy of your statement to spread your pea**** feathers. I simply asked for the link, as I have kept up with this game since it's announcement and Babalities are about the ONLY thing not rumored, hinted at, or suggested by the media. I would greatly appreciate it if you could find the interview, as I would like to know whether or not they are actually being included. And since you work at IGN, maybe you could suggest spellcheck to the crew there? :mswerd:

I think this is the first time a post of yours has made me smile.

I've mentioned I work at the site exactly twice since being here (the other time being when we had the exclusive on Jade's costume in my department). It's nothing I pride myself on, I merely mentioned it to state that I'm not a 22 year old troll on here to incite a riot, like a decent amount of users around these parts -- and like the majority of IGN's staff. See? I can "ba-dum-ching" from time to time.

It has been brought up several times that either Babalities or Friendships will be in the game. Considering you joined in October, you may have missed several "lesser" video interviews and such, which usually have more information than the average big site. I recommend digging through the media and catching up, as they usually contain some fun info that you don't get from the likes of IGN or GameSpot, since they are specifically fan-made or they come from websites with fewer hits, who always try to take a different angle from the big players, thus gaining more in-depth knowledge.

Here is an interview with Shaun where he states that one of the babalities, friendships, or animalities will come back. It is also a good interviews; I think Shaun always gives us a little more than the others with his interviews:

Ed has stated in prior interviews that Friendships will not return ("You won't see things like Friendships," rough quote). There was a thread about that around these boards many months ago, so I'm sure you saw that? And Ed and Co. frequently mention "Babalities and Friendships" in many interviews, with no mention of Animalities. Logic deduces which is in, unless, of course, they are all throwing us curveballs.

I recommend brushing up on the old E3, PAX, and Toronto videos. You might learn something that went under the radar.

I got three things from the vid Zoop posted.

1. Bell Tower confirmed and Bell Tower Fatality confirmed

2. Either A. Friendships B. Babalities C. Animalities will return. "AT LEAST 1 of those will return. At least

3. "A secret character that never really existed before, we'll make sure they exist now" Red woman confirmed. The red woman was a SUPER SUPER SUPER GLITCH in one of the early MKs, but was practically impossible to play as. The fans called her Skarllett, but she actually still has no real name.

See what I mean? :) It's worth looking out for older videos from "indie" sites, you get things you wouldn't have otherwise.

If you want my opinion, I think Friendships will make the cut and everything else will not. The boys, Boon specifically, like effing with us. ;)

Zoop, I don't think anyone is calling you a liar. If they are then they're dimwits anyway. However, I do know for a fact that on some of the podcasts and little twitter updates now and then, they've joked about having babalities and friendships and ridiculous -alities make their way in but made it clear it was a joke. I'm more than certain that Boon and Co. have stated numerous times that MK2011 is returning to dark roots with none of the more ridiculous -alities.

But hey, know what? Even if I think that it would be pretty stupid if they were in, I don't have to do them. That's what free will is, folks. Don't like? Don't want? Don't do.

Babalities will be in there. Someone let it slip in a video interview months back, forget who... Wasn't Hans or Hec or Boon.

You stated here, with full confidence mind you, that 'Babalities will be in there'. In the interview you linked, Shaun stated that out of the Babalities, Animalities, and Friendships they will not be bringing all of these back, but will be bringing at least one.

Nowhere does it definitively say in the interview that 'Babalities will be in there'.

Nor did I state that it did, but I came across it in my search for the actual interview and figured it had some noteworthy points within it that may have gone under the radar -- clearly, some found it as noteworthy as I did. My confidence has not wavered in these facts, either, though I must admit that I dislike your tone overall; it's accusatory and sharp, fairly rude. If I had all day to search for the video evidence, I certainly would, and dedicated a decent chunk of time at the start of my afternoon but came up empty. You can take me at my word or continue to be disdainfully rude; frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

Zoop, I'm not trying to make enemies. I'm not even trying to hurt your feelings. I just wanted to know where you found out that Babalities were confirmed from. You then decided to take that as me accusing you of being a liar and questioning your reputation. I'm not going to go any further into detail why I became condescending other than the fact that flashing your IGN (or any other title of note) badge in someone's face is NOT the way to reply to someone asking for a link to the confirmation media source when you pronounce definitive details about their favorite upcoming game that no one else seems to have heard about. Anyway, don't take it to heart. And if you happen across the links, please provide!

I must agree that x-ray brutalities would be at the highest point of awesomeness, but they need to be more than zoomed-on combos, although I do think there is NO chance we`ll see them like that, it`ll probably be THOSE gory, brutal finishers that everybody want besides of the more personality-based fatalities we`ve seen so far.

I see where you're coming from, but I don't know dude, the more I think about it the more I think there will be at least a bit of x-ray in everyone's brutality.

NRS has already mentioned that they want to take full advantage of the internal mapping of the characters in fatalities. Why not take it to the next level and make brutalities a bit more.... brutal. Just punches and kicks would still be cool but I doubt not even one person in the NRS team didn't speak up while they were making brutalities and said "Hey wouldn't it be a good idea if we the players could see the insides of the opponents they are finishing while the brutalities are going on". It just makes sense to me.

In the first quote from the article on MK being banned in Australia it said that each character will have 4 FINISHING MOVES and that there will be more than 60 fatalities in the game. Well as we know there are going to be 26 playable characters at the game’s launch plus unplayable characters. If each character has 2 fatalities we get 26 * 2 = 52, + 4 for an unplayable boss and sub-boss bringing the total to 56 and an additional 2 fatalities for 2 secret characters to bring the total to 60. This system of 2 fatalities per character leaves us with 2 other finishing moves. What do you think about this theory?

I believe it's possible. Each character was said to have three or four finishing moves, and I'm guessing two of them are fatalities, one brutality, and one unlockable finishing move. Plus I think the pre-order fatalities for Reptile, Scorpio, and Sub Zero make an extra three on that list as well (could be that those three have 4-5 finishers).

Fighting over babalities, wow, I feel even more proud to be an MK fan. Thanks, guys, you have reaffirmed that we aren't a bunch of nerds.
