Fallout (1,2,3, and New Vegas)

I believe the choice of the area in a Fallout game depends on 2 things the wildlife an area contains, and the landmarks the area has, whether it be the deserts of Vegas or the monuments and buildings of DC.

Imagine Egypt, too.
A pyramid could end up being an immense secret society contained within..
and a Vault being deep within the pyramid.
Preferably the society be pretty f*cked up, not unlike the cannibals in Andale.
Maybe incest or rapists (Hey, it's Fallout).
Andale F*CKED me UP when I went there, taboos aren't really in Fallout.
They did the homosexual aspect in New Vegas with Arcade Gannon.
Could make the game just deeper, but I think they should leave the rapist aspect alone.
Perhaps the society are arabian scarab people and xenophobia is present.

I'm pretty sure the raiders and fiends were said to be rapists in past Fallout games, but Egypt would be really cool with the pyramids and scarab beetles and whatnot.

Oh yeah, I just remembered the rapist Cook Cook in New Vegas.
I do think Egypt would be an excellent DLC, but as far as a main setting for the game.. nah.
But no doubt, I think we should stick with the US.
Damn, New York could be cool.. with the statue of liberty in ruins.
Ghouls running rampant in the streets with business suits still on.

time for the best of Pip boy

I'm sure this will get edited because of a double post, but I feel it's necessary to bump with good news.
I've know about this for quite awhile, but I figured I'd share it with you all.
Fallout: New Vegas will receive an "Ultimate" edition, basically, a GOTY without it being an actual Game of the Year.
Ultimate Edition will drop February, with ALL DLC.
The cover:

I'm getting it for sure.

I got every single DLC for my 360 NV, except for Lonesome Raod
Then my 360 decided not to connect to the internet anymore.
No ****ing way I'm missing out on that, so I'm going to get it on PS3.

And that cover?
That mother****ing cover?

Almost as good as the F3 Dogmeat picture

Only thing I'm not looking forward to is the Dead Money DLC.
That shit wasn't even close to being fun

Totally.
There are two good things about Dead Money.
1.) The Gold Bars, which get you that BANK!!!
2.) Assassin Suit

The holorifle is meh at best, but I did like the beartrap powerfist.

I do like Skyrim, but I feel the attempt at streamlining things means less options available to the player. I was hoping they would add some positive aspects of Fallout and retain the good from previous Fallout games. For example, in FO:NV, best choice of weapons less obvious. They vary in dmg, dps, spread, durability, scarcity, etc. Also, some weapons can be concealed while others cannot. In Skyrim, you pretty much get the highest tiered weapon you can find. The only practical reason to stick with a lower end weapon is weight or limits in your smithing skill.

Well there are ways to mix it up with things like weapon enchantments & different weapon speeds.
And magic is a whole new ballgame.

But I do see where you are coming from.

There are differences in speed and range between weapon types (daggers, swords, axes, etc). However, there is little difference between different grades of weapons other than attack and weight. Unless you are carrying too much weight, there is little incentive to pick an iron sword over an ebony sword. Yes, enchantments are possible, but it would be optimal to use it on the strongest weapon you have available.

As for magic, from what I heard there are less spells available and you cannot create your own spells like you can in Oblivion. Destruction in particular is fixed damage, which makes me question their viability as a primary offensive tool at later levels when there are more ways to increase damage output with weapons. The other schools of magic seem to have interesting utility though.

Enchanting in Skyrim has some really creative uses, I created some unique swords by enchanting some lower tier weapons. For example I enchanted a Silver Sword which has a preexisting enchantment that would do extra damage against undead with the "Turn Undead" Enchantment. While the sword could not be sharpened for some reason and had a low damage output it still was deadly effective against Draugr and other undead. As for armor enchantments, they are even more useful. If the "Fortify Destruction" spell is put on each piece of clothing/armor it can be applied to, it can effectively give you unlimited Destruction Magic. Although you will need a very high skill level to make magic unlimited, the time taken to level up enchanting is definitely worth it.

Also if we are going to continue to talk about Skyrim perhaps we should move to the Skyrim thread.

When playing Fallout: New Vegas, some areas become monochromatic, usually red, especially at Camp Forlorn Hope. Is this normal?

Absolutely not, that's far from normal lol.
I never had that, but I can bet it's a bug.
I love Fallout, but it is plagued with all kinds of shit like that.

Thanks for the confirmation. I did some further testing by running other games on my PS3. I got similar results whenever there is a dark or dusky environment. There may be a problem with "new" TV rather than the game itself.

That could be the problem.
Usually when a random raider shows up and sprays me with an incinerator, and I go to my pip boy, it's on fire and stays that way for awhile. As in, the flame texture sticks to my pip boy for some time.

But yeah, It could be your tv.
