Yeah, but Smoke's MK9 evade move can't be held.
This Warp Out move can be held and released, which makes it that much harder to know when he will appear again, and I foresee a lot of people using it online to try to get easy wins.

It definitely will. But it's also gonna make the matches more interesting to watch, I think. I'm cautiously loving these moves right now.

I feel the floating looks fine to me... Its unique and adds a different touch to the standard walk forward walk back etc.

In my opinion, thats how it should be, since people who were fans of MK9 will want their to be a familiarity with the characters, instead of having to learn it from scratch, which is one of the reasons I never buy more than 2 fighting games.

Having said that, there are significant changes for their fighting style, yet they still have their fundamental moves and specials.
 
I don't see why a character should be "different" from MK9.

It's the same character, and the changes that are applied are very inteligent and they are visibly taking time and the ambient on its style.

For exemple, Reptile. He has details on his arm just like MK9. Ermac's face is exactly the same from MK9.

The style of their clothes and theirs moves are very similar.

Because they are the same "people"!
 
Tbh even though I'm a fan of telekinetic powers, this is the first reveal that makes me feel indifferent about a character. Still, what a fatality!
 
I think Ermac in MKX could lead up to possible story ideas. We know that he is still evil and it looks like that he was working with Kotal Kahn.
 
I wanted Ermac in and we got him, so I'm really happy with the selection.

At first glance, his new costume came off as meh to me, but that's because I was expecting the scarecrow outfit and not seeing it immediately disappointed me. Hopefully that one is still in the game, as his other costume, or hopefully they sell it as DLC down the road. However, the more I've seen it in action, the more the new look has grown on me. I like that he looks like a Sith lord and I like that he's maskless. He looks intimidating in his select screen pose. Cool design overall.

The floating stance works great with Ermac. I just hope it's unique to him since I believe Injustice had several characters that floated.
 
Damn I seriously thought a female reveal :') but hot dayummmmmmm dat fatality though :O They said they might have been playing with alternate costumes SO his full facemask is not out of the question yet!
 
I was hyping for the return of Ermac, and it's good that he returns. Though I'm a bit off that he looks like he's clinging to Shao Kahn still (if you listened to his lines closely you'll see what I mean). I thought he would of been free forever and can do what ever he wanted. Like maybe have went into a place for meditation to figure out what he can do now seeing he is free. Go hunting down powerful souls to make him stronger, or hell even host your own cooking show even.


But that all is just my opinion.

its a shame because every other gameplay reveal till now has looked so smooth but this looks horrible.
my main concern is that ermac is a popular character in online play so were gunna be stuck watching this floating mess making the game look shit.

just shows you all it can take is one little thing to screw up such good work

During the stream, they did say some things being presented aren't the final product, and things may change. I hope that's one of the things they're talking about.

Well, given that it sounds like Shao Kahn's soul is inside of him, I don't think Ermac has much of a choice about clinging to him.

Wouldn't you rather they handle that character development within a game, though? There's no guarantee that they'll have him go good/neutral again in this timeline, but if they did, I'd rather it happen live and in person than between games.

Actually yeah. Sounds better if we see him get developed in the game. Though I do hope he gets some development though.
 
I can't be happier with the new Ermac, his moveset is quite similar to the MK9 one, so what? is the same "person".

I wasn't expecting the constant levitation when he moves, it's so awesome. I think it's the best new thing about his overall character.
