Do you let people win?

I've only played offline, with friends who don't own the game themselves, so I definitely don't go all out with combos. I don't let them win but I try to give them the illusion of having a chance
Lately though I've had a bunch of people over and it's fun to just watch them play each other, give them tips etc. They're all going to try import the game, get good at it, so hopefully I'll have some challenging offline matches eventually.

I've only tried online today on PS3 finally. The lag is just horrible atm and I guess I need to adjust to it. Is the lag just as bad on 360? Offline I mix it up if my friends are struggling I just switch to a character I need to work on. However, I have to hold back sometimes even then.

The game and the series overall is still new to alot of my friends and I want them to learn so granted I still win but I try and let them adjust instead of just quick rounds and flawlesses.

Nah, if I let them win, there soul doesn't become mine...

If somebody is making a go of doing actual combo's, or not jumping all over the place (Something you wouldn't get away with offline) then I might do the same, otherwise. It's play to win.

Not online but offline I have to let my friends win otherwise they probably wouldn't play against me.

I've got one friend who isn't a big fighting game fan due to pick MK9 up soon, but when he gets it he'll have a trial by fire. He'll either get better to win, or he'll stay sucky and lose. And probably never touch another fighter again.

Letting people win is disrespectful in my opinion. Make them earn their wins, it's more fulfilling and rewarding for them.

When I play offline with friends I don't really care though, I rarely pick my main and just dork around with a character I don't know how to play. Otherwise they just get frustrated and want to do something else.

Today I let a very good player win one round...

... because I accidentally used Cage's x-ray parry glitch! :)

I must admit I had this "it would be sooo much fun to continue and see how far I can continue doing it" moment, but I wasn't in the mood for receiving rage messages. lol

I let my bro win when he gets frustrated, I really don't want to make him feel bad...

But at least his a real-life martial-artist, so he can obviously kick my ass. LOL!

I don't see the point on going easy on total strangers... like the faceless mob of online multiplayer. They usually don't respond anyway if you send a friendly or helpful message to them. If you're not decent/good go back to offline? Just a thought. You are teaching them nothing about getting better by going easy on them unless there's some discussion during/after the match.

I personally only go easy on RL friends who are newer to the game.

Thankfully this new MK is more accessible than I have ever seen for a fighting game :)

I have a few friends who aren't normally MK fans, but they got excited for MK 9.
I'm not GOOD at MK 9, like some people on here, but I'm A LOT better than them.
I wouldn't try to annihilate them in MK, in a sense that they'd never want to pick up MK again.

As for people I've added to my PSN via TRMK or any other MK site?
HELL NO. I don't go easy on them.
None of my MK added peeps go easy on me, and I prefer it that way.
How the hell would I learn anything, if I only fought people that were worse than me?

I'm glad that I get to play against people like RockHardMilkGun, which can whoop my ass using Noob Saibot and Sub-Zero (my favorite characters), because then I learn more combos with those characters, and can try to apply them myself.

The ONLY person I ever let win is my wife. If I don't let her win in MK I will not be "WINNING" anytime soon. I do not really play anyone else offline.

Online I am getting much better but there are still a lot of people better than me. If I am playing someone that loses to both of my mains badly but still wants to play I usually choose their mains after that. You usually fight better against your main and I fight worse. I do not let them win but I am at a natural disadvantage.

lol i never let them win, and i dont know if im too good or most of the people suck, because they are spammers or they dont know anything. I have many wins. if someone wants to friend me in PSN for some fights my id is: Fox17es

It has to be american people, because I have the US game version.

I guess it's fine against friend but not randoms.

I suck and if someone even went easy on me let alone let me win I would be slightly annoyed, I'm not going to get better being toyed with.

i look at player matches for fun and personally dont think that you should take them serius becouse ranked matches are for that and in player matches it great to practice with a new character you have been trying out. But no i dont let people win just becouse they are bad but i just try to have as much fun as i can in player matches arent they for that? i hope so
