Do you let people win?

When online, do you ever let up on an opponent that obviously has no chance?

In player matches I do, I never let them win, but I will stop with the 50% combos and whatnot.
Unless they skillesly spam or talk shit, I'll let up on them a little when I'm taking them down to China-Town.

May seem weird but I just don't like wrecking people that are just trying to have fun.
By fun I mean play casually.

What about you guys?

I don't have that problem because there aren't very many people that I am that much better than.

I just don't have the time to sit there and learn every nuance of the game the way a lot of people do.

For that reason, I don't even bother playing online. But when I was very good at MK2 and played in the arcades, yes, I definitely think you should go easy on people who are just learning or not very good. Back in the day, the honorable thing to do was to throw the second round, so you could at least get a 3 round fight out of it.

That may have been motivated by longer play times, since back then you had to pay to play and if there was nobody to play you, you were stuck with the cheap computer AI. But I think there is merit in the honor system of going easy on someone who is much worse at the game than you are. It's also more fun for you. If all you want to do is wail on someone with your perfect combos, don't even play online, just go to practice mode.

Going easy on someone is one thing, but letting people win just because they're are playing too casually or don't have much experience yet? Hell No! I certainly won't juggle the **** out of them, but is not right to give a victory to someone who dosen't desert it, games or otherwise.

Hmm. On the one hand, you don't want to completely demolish somebody because that's no fun for either of you. But if you go easy on someone, they might become even worse. For instance, they do a teleport and you block but don't punish them. That player might now start to spam teleports since he thinks it's safe (simple example, really). So he's learning to play the game wrong. So I think you should definately go easy with the insane combo's, but still punish their mistakes. Unless of course, you've beaten somebody like 3 times in a row, then sure give them a break. (which doesn't mean you have to let them win if you're going for a win streak..).

PS: not that this is any concern of mine, since I'm a below average player right now :)

I only let up on them if they are absolutely horrible. If they start teleport spamming or anything like that though, I juggle them. Teaches them not to. ;)

I'm not great at games in general but I always crack under pressure so even if I'm better it's still an even match. So in my case, there's usually no reason for me to 'go light' or let someone win lol

If i feel that my opponent is seriously weak i try to make it look as if i only won by a hair and that it was a close match so that they dont rage quit and continue fighting against me xD

ps3 user so cant say about mk so far but went online with ufc alot and been on the other end of this. Ie being toyed with lol. It always makes me smirk coz I KNOW I'm gonna lose but the guy's giving me a chance so will always message after and tell them they got skills, so kudos to you nice people that make us crap players feel a little better :-D

to be honest and modest as much as i can, im very good at this game, and sometimes i meet other guys online with really no expirience in this game, so i let them win first match, and if they want to continue playing i start to play normally and evantually i beat them. also i play with my friends and my little brother sometimes and i also let them win sometimes so they'll feel good with themselves :D
im such a good person...

yeah, i sometimes ease up on them when they are obviously gonna lose, it takes the fun out of it if you destroy them... unless its king of the hill with people watching... gotta earn those respect points ;)

Offline, I do let people win kause ugh! All the people I play offline SUCK! I let them win so they kan feel better about life.

Online, hell no! I want to win online.

If I'm fighting a friend online I'll let them win occasionally, but if I'm fighting random people I go all out regardless of skill. When I picked this game up, it was the first fighting game since I played the original MK when I was 5. I got absolutely destroyed but I learned from my mistakes and from other peoples kombos. I figure me taking it easy on someone doesn't help them get any better.

It really depends. If I see the dude is a TOTAL noob (usually, he/she picks Smoke, does the bomb move and then tries to roundhouse or uppercut instead of going aerial and comboing) I go all AAWWWWWW and I think of my little cousins trying to play and I take it easy.

If I'm playing a person that's clearly not very good I don't destroy them. I let them take some shots and I won't do crazy combo after combo. I don't LET them win though.

Never! Spare nobody! Your in it to win! Than Finish him off once and for all!....Anyway thats how I am lol I dont think there is anything wrong with that. Im just a merciless bastard :)
