Any word on Kabal one way or another?

Kabal is the Darth Vader, Freddy Kruger and Quicksilver all turned into one awesome character! I wouldn't mind seeing him back evil again like in Deception where he was one of my favorite characters.

I hope he's at least DLC.

What do you mean? I think Kabal could fit this dark theme perfectly. He's pretty much always been pretty dark. He could work.

Kabal is a criminal who became a cop who got burnt to a crisp and placed on a ventilator and now wears a cape.

Obviously he has the powers of superspeed and magical energy blasts and uses hookswords. Because what other powers would a criminal who became a cop who got burnt to a crisp and placed on a ventilator and now wears a cape possibly use?

That's not really a character. That's just a bunch of very random shit thrown together because why not.

Again, I'm sure that MKX could simplify him and cut out the unneeded shit and revamp him to make him interesting in my eyes. I just don't see why he would deserve that much effort over any other character, and there are plenty of characters who deserve to make it into this game but haven't yet.

Kabal is like Darth Vader?

Ooookay.... :bird:

While it would be cool to see this character again, I have doubts he'll be in. I did personally enjoy playing him in 2011.

That same logic could apply to a lot of characters to make them look bad.

Remember in MKD how he had that move where he forced you and himself to just crash into eachother? That was the most random thing I've ever seen in an MK game! Made absolutely no sense. XD

I do like Kabal, but his special moves are rather random and don't make alot of sense. They made a quick remark (lololol) about his superspeed in the MK9 Story Mode, but what about his blasts and those razor thingies? Where the hell did they come from?

Not to any character that I like.

Even with someone like Cyrax, his over-complicated past as a Jamaican assassin who worked in China doesn't really matter because all we have on-screen is a robot with cool tech. The moves make perfect sense with the visual.

Kabal was always one of my favorites but it isn't looking very good for him being playable. I'm starting to think that Mavado is boot #2 though.

But more about Kabal. He really would fit greatly in X's theme. The hookswords are his weapons he used as a criminal. The superspeed and the plasma ball are side effects of Shang Tsung's magic as it said in the story mode. The saw was originally suppose to be the character's hookswords instead, back in MK3. All these things could be worked out to fit the game in my opinion but not that its entirely necessary.

Why in the universe would you jump to Mavado? Boot #2 could still be Johnny Cage's or Erron Black's, for all we know we've been looking at their alts in the storymode trailer.

In this universe, I found myself jumping to Mavado because.. look at it. It looks like a boot and long coat/cape that Mavado would wear. I know that because he's in the comics doesn't mean he's in the game but he isn't dead yet. Its possible.

But you're right, it could also be Cage or Black.

I have a feeling that Kabal might show up in the comics and might even have a cameo in the story but for him to be playable this time around i just dont see it. Is he my favorite character, NO; but I do like him and would actually like to see him bacl with the Black Dragon. See that relationship with Kano.

MK9 cutscene made it seem like they were actually cool/close with one another

I don't see Kabal becoming evil again. He was evil in the old timeline because Mavado fought him then he nearly killed him and stole his hooks then Havik found Kabal and heal him before he died.

Johnny Cage is a movie star who throws green balls of energy who fights someone that has four arms and is part of some tournament where people that could easily kill him don't and he karate chops their head in half with one hit.

How a description of Goro, never mind the Mortal Kombat tournament, which isn't a character but an event, wound up inside your description of Johnny Cage's character, I will never, ever know.

"Johnny Cage is a movie star with green energy." That's it. Every single move he has can be explained either by him being a movie star (showing off flamboyantly) or his access to green energy (throwing energy balls, using it to fuel his attacks creating the 'shadow' effect). That's it. His physical appearance - suit and tie, shades, his own name on his chest, again makes sense once we know that he is a narcissistic dick (read: movie star).

"Liu Kang is a monk who throws fireballs."
Every single move he has can be explained by that description. His physical appearance makes sense from that short description.

"Scorpion is a ninja resurrected as a demon." Every single move Scorpion has can be explained by that description - fire is Hellish, his swords and kunai come from his ninja heritage. The only thing you could argue isn't explained is his use of portals, but seeing as how Quan Chi also favors portals, we can assume that in the world of MK, portals and demons go together. His physical appearance is literally an undead ninja.

"Kabal is a former criminal who has super speed." That's on par with the other characters. Now why the hookswords? That's a pretty random weapon for a criminal-turned-cop to use. Neither cops nor criminals typically use hookswords. Kano uses daggers and throwing knives like a regular murderous psychopath, why can't Kabal? Why the whirring blades that he hurls at people? Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, and Scorpion don't randomly summon weapons to throw at their enemies. Never mind that the whirring blade isn't even a weapon that Kabal normally uses, why the hell doesn't he just throw a hooksword? Why the energy blasts? Just because? That's just his MK9 moves, I won't even touch his moves from previous games. Now, moving on to his appearance, where did the part about being a burn victim come from? And how does a gas mask help him deal with his burns? And why does he wear a cape?

And as theincubuslord pointed out, there's even a reason why Cage has green energy. Does it bear mentioning that the origin of Kabal's super speed is completely unknown?
