A primary costume and a new model is not the same thing. Tanya's old model was never canon because she's was never playable with that old model.

1) Corrupted Shinnok isn't playable either. By your logic, he isn't canon for that reason.
2) Haven't you ever taken the P2 color into consideration? You are well aware that the Story Mode model could very well be the P2 color, and you are well aware that you can select that by pressing Square, then Options, are you not?

So Sindel, Rain, Fujin, Sareena, Kabal, Stryker, Baraka, Li Mei, Frost, Nightwolf, Smoke and Bo'Rai Cho aren't canon because their models aren't playable either then. At least by your logic.

T.T. is actually right. If it doesnt get changed in SM then thats the canon look until MK11 (assuming Tanua appears)

Overall, it doesn't really matter what model is canon. The important thing is that Tanya as a character is canon. And the model gets updated, so the old model will be replaced. I hope the model will be replaced in Story Mode as well, because it would be painfully inconsistent if it didn't.
But yeah, arguing whether or not the old model is canon or not is rather ridiculous and unnecessary.

Their models are only canon because they are not dlc. Tanya is dlc so the old model is not canon anymore. The new model is the canon tanya model, if Tanya was never dlc the old model would be the canon model.

Your logic is way off... but I agree with the essence of it. The old model shouldn't be considered canon, however, the real reason it shouldn't is because NRS said from the very start that Tanya's model wasn't finished! And the one we see in Story Mode is still the unfinished version! The new model is the finished one and is thus the canon one.
Let's put this topic to sleep now, alright?

Who actually cares if a model is canon or not? We'll just see in MK11 if she's black or white. I don't see the hype.

Let's say, hypothetically speaking, that her original Story Mode model ends up being her P2 color. We already have FIVE cases where an unlockable alternate kostume is canon while the primary is not (all five of those cases involve big-name characters). Is the issue of the P2 color disqualified from that argument?

A P2 colour doesn't change any character's features. Only the colours. Hence why it is called P2 COLOUR.

I wonder what Tanya's winpose will be like.
Her MK4 one is odd, how she pounds her hands into the ground first like some monkey (I'm reminded of Donkey Kong's ground pound move) and then poses:
I do like the pose though. Jade had a nicer version of it in MKD/MKA. I didn't like Tanya's winpose in those games though. It was too simple and boring.

Additionally, Kung Lao's primary outfit color for most of the series was his P2 color in MK3.

I also just now noticed that Ashrah stole Liu Kang's MK4 pose as well.
The only real unique well-thought ones in that video are Sindel and Kira.
They're the only females who use their known skills as their victories.
Sindel flies, Kira swishes her knives.
Sareena took Tanya's. Tanya really should've kept the one Jade has.

Yeah, the one Jade has is definately my favourite winpose in those games.
I forgot, in MK4, I love how she looks at the camera and does a kissy face in her bio:
Would love if she did a blowkiss winpose of sorts. ^^

I'd much rather see her do some badass fiery split or something, ending with her MK4 pose in the camera as opposed to just a kiss. Or not. Just an example.
I want her to match the badassness of everyone else, not be such a bore like her MKD/MKA 3 second no-effort pose.
Tanya has never been given the opportunity to be so extremely badass before. There are a million things that could go wrong and right here. I want her to peak the awesomeness because there's a chance she won't be given this chance anymore.
