MK11's new hero (protagonist)?

In all honesty, the whole Liu Kang / Cassie protagonist debate is very silly to me, especially in a game series where in MK9 Stryker (WITH NO SPECIAL POWERS) can beat the shit out of Reptile, Mileena, a 4-armed half-dragon (Kintaro), a guy possessed by 1,000 souls (Ermac) and a cyborg (Cyrax) with nothing but his bare hands, guns, grenades and a baton.

Are you all really trying to inject realism into a game series in which such impossible things are otherwise possible?

Bless this post. Also to the people mentioning Sub Zero's MKX ending. I too would love to see Kuai Liang own a dragon in the next MK game

Ferra/Torr

They had so much opportunity to make these characters really cool and they missed it. Oh did they miss the opportunity to make them really cool.

I really hope they don't ditch these two. They could easily make something out of them even better with the next game.

Ferra/Torr look absolutely epic in their intro during Kung Jin's chapter, but then in-game they're quite a bit smaller. Torr is huge in the cinematics, he seems bigger than Goro.

I guess they have to 'normalize' the heights of tall character for game balance, though. Hitboxes, mid projectiles, etc.

Ferra/Torr is my favorite of all the new characters. I rarely get to talk with others about them because they don't seem to get much love on ANY forums so I have to ask: What would you have done if you were NRS to give Ferra/Torr more of a chance to shine?

I'd would have explored who they are, how they came to be, why are they with Kotal.

I believe some one mentioned that they only did a little bit of this in the comics. You have two characters that have an adorable bond with each other. When they were first revealed, they, alongside with D'Vorah, were probably the most talked about. I mean, someone took the time to show what the symbols on Ferra's head piece meant. They could have had some backstory added to them, but we don't. Their ending is one of the most liked, and it shows more on who they are. But that's it.

I feel like this series needs to have a good writer who will write books about some of the characters. World of Warcraft, Diablo, Halo, and Borderlands are just some of the games that have books out that dwells deeply into a character, whether they are about a character, or a character made up for the book. I'd like to see that happen with some of the characters with this series, and Ferra/Torr could have a book about who they are, how they came to be, and everything else that makes them unique.

I'd do it, but I don't have the time to make fan fics.

Sub-Zero's 'Re-Imagined' Daughter Frost....jokes

Sub-Zero's long lost illegitimate Son...Kuai-Snow...jokes...okay okay...but still he REALLY does need his 'Own' Kid.

Or just simply Takeda...I can't see how he wasn't going to be the Protagonist in MKX but NRS had to bring in both sexes in terms of gameplayers...nothing wrong with that, I'm all for equality, but to me Takeda would have been the better choice.

I guess I think it's a little tragic for him at his age to be amongst his peers who have their own and he has none...even Scorpion once had a family. Hell, Kano even has a son. Bi Han had something with Sareena so that's a possibility for him if the writers need another next gen fighter at least. But with Kuai Liang, he has no one. He seems to live the most Solitary life of all MK fighters. In a way you could say he is sort of like Batman. Maybe that will be his role in MK11, Earth realm's Solitary Guardian Mentor.

They've got a 2 years or so to develop him further, be interesting where they take him, especially given how much Development he has had from MK2 to MKX.

Jade is a supporting cast character. You don't make supporting cast characters the primary hero under ANY circumstances, otherwise the product becomes a flop.

You might hate MK11, then.
According to MKX's story mode, Cassie may be the new protagonist for the next game in this timeline.

Shujinko was a protagonist as a rookie. So was Taven. There's a good reason neither one of them was protagonist in multiple games, let alone consecutive games. So if Shujinko and Taven didn't stay protagonists beyond one game, then Cassie shouldn't be protagonist either. In fact, if she's protagonist in MK11, then I hope the bad guys win and kill her.

Exactly.

That said, though, NRS has picked and chosen certain elements from certain endings from the previous games for the next game, but it doesn't necessarily imply that all endings are true, as TehPredator is implying.

I said: Arcade endings and intros
I didnt say all arcade endings.

You didn't say or imply some, either, so by omitting certain words you actually do imply ALL with what you say.

For example:
The statement "French food sucks" implies that you think that ALL French food sucks.
The statement "Some French food suck" implies that you think that SOME French foods suck, while other French foods are good.

You're entire statement, word for word, was:

Arcade endings and intros are hinting Shang Tsung. They're literally saying "Shang Tsung is the bad guy of the next game!" I bet you Quan Chi, Baraka, or Mileena will be revived.

To which my reply was:

That can also be spun the other way around.
Arcade endings may also not be true.
I don't see a Shao Kahn possessed Nightwolf in MKX, nor is Havik in the MKX game (Noob Saibot's ending), nor is Noob Saibot in the game, nor is Sheeva in the game.

This is the new timeline.
Besides, for how many games was Liu Kang the protagonist in the old timeline?
They finally have 8 new characters in an MK game that are well-made, and I sencirely doubt that they're just going to dump them to the wayside.
Like it or not, Cassie defeated Shinnok in MKX, and she is 1 of the new protagonists. :-D
