MK11's new hero (protagonist)?

The only thing Cassie took from Johnny was the nutcracker move. IMHO, Cassie has made that move a lot more interesting for two reasons:

1) Cassie looks like she's sliding and trying to hit a volleyball.

2) She says "DING!" on the regular move and "DING DONG!" In the EX version.

So, you'd skip a whole potentially good MK fighting game if the protagonist is still Cassie?

Special Forces was just bad because the game and story itself were shitty.
It had nothing to do with the Special Forces part of it.

My point is, if Stryker can stand up to demons and monsters with his bare hands and defeat them, then so can Cassie who has the same green energy power as Johnny and also has a baton, guns and bombs.
Just sayin.'

The theme of Stryker, Cassie, and Sonya don't fit. They would better fit in COD than MK.

Yeah because a woman who uses energy rings and death kisses, her daughter who takes selfies with the dead, and a cop that can turn into a T-rex totally fits the world that is Call of Duty,

Anyone, at this point, who's going to say "such and such doesn't fit Mortal Kombat" can leave. There's so much they can work with, there's no restrictions with Mortal Kombat on what can work and what can't.

They managed to make Freddie a great addon as a guest and he fit. So I don't want to see people saying something can't fit in this series.

And fatalities are definitely canon.

I really hope you understood that my post was nothing but sarcasm.

Okay, but he won't. Cassie has been overwhelmingly positively received both by fans and by the press. I'm sure Takeda will be around, but I expect it to be Cassie's show for a good while.

I agree with this.
I find it really dumb that Sonya has been a military woman and Johhny has been an actor since Day 1 on MK1, yet they and Stryker don't fit into the lore?
Huh?
Boon, Tobias and Vogel made those 3 "normal" humans to fit with the rest of the lore, and to this day it's still Boon and Vogel's lore, so if they say that Stryker, Sonya and Johnny fit, then they fit.
If people don't like that there are human characters in MK, then part of me wonders why they even played MK1, to begin with???
Don't like the human characters? Don't use them. Simple as that.
Human characters have been a staple of this series since 1992, though.

As for guests, yeah, I may not like or agree with certain ones being in for reasons of personal taste, but NRS have proven with Kratos, Freddy, Jason and Predator that they can make some good renditions of those characters in the games.
I may not buy all of the guests, but I can acknowledge that some people do like them, and at the end of the day those characters mean more sales for NRS.
More sales for NRS means more games for us in the future.

I hated Cassie being the protagonist. However, Taven is the most generic, boring character. Let's have someone else be it, but anyone but him.

The whole Special Forces ruined this game. SF has always been the most irrelevant, incompetent faction in the series of Mortal Kombat. Why in the hell would they make them the focal point of this game? Give them so many roster spots to plain humans in a game about gods and monsters. I absolutely love Jacqui Briggs, but I would trade the whole Special Forces team for just Baraka.

Cassie is the worst and lamest protagonist they could have possibly imagined.

Anybody but Cassie.

I'd rather see Orderrealm and Chaosrealm return more than Edenia.

With the amount of Edenians we have, I'd like to see a game WITHOUT an Edenian for once. Take focus on two other realms that could easily have a big role in the series. Since everyone likes Havik, there you go. There's one big character from these realms.

I agree with all of the above.

This is why primary protagonist roles should be reserved for established veterans. Which is the whole reason it should be Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

Why do you want Fire and Ice so badly?

Why shouldn't Cassie be a protagonist again?

Yeah, let's totally make a brand new character and immediately scrap her for the next game. She can be disliked by many, I have no problem with people saying that they couldn't care less about her as a character. But she shouldn't be immediately scrapped as a protagonist for the next game because she's not that liked by a few. That's just dumb.

I'm sure people didn't care for Liu Kang in any of the first few Mortal Kombats yet there he was, as the protagonist.

She, along with three other great characters will obviously come back as a group of heroes to represent Earthrealm.

If they come back as a group, I don't mind. If cassie is the MAIN then I will be a little mad.

I dont give a crap, I usually play as Takeda anyways.

*Sighs* I really don't like it when people complain about something and then end it with a "I don't care" variant. Clearly you do care if you took the time to complain.

Cassie is a main character, one of four. And she's their leader, because she's shown to have leader qualities and we were told this various times by some characters. It's not gonna change for a while unless Netherrealm does a big "Fluck You" to us and do something completely different with its next game.

But I doubt they'll do that.

Why shouldn't Cassie be a protagonist again?

It'd be really interesting if she was neutral in MK11. Assuming Kotal's ending is canon; she's stuck between doing what is right in helping the nonhostile Outworld protect their sovereignty, and aiding her own realm's conquest of it.

You have to admit tho that the 4 child protagonists beating grizzled veterans who have stronger abilities/more powerful is stupid. So I can see why people would want new protaganists.

Those 4 need to be subjected to hazing in MK11.

But then why go through the trouble of creating the just so that the next game they can just toss 'em to the side like nothing ever happened?

So what if young fighters were able to take down powerful sorcerers and fallen Elder Gods? The sense that Mortal Kombat has is none.

Was the ending cheap? In a way, yes. I thought it would be cooler if all four pitched in instead of Cassie taking Shinnok out by herself. But, to want new protagonists all because the newer/younger characters managed to beat the veterans, in my opinion, is more stupid than people hating the new characters because they easily defeated the veterans.
