Ideas for MK11

Actually, nostalgia has been in MK since Day 1.

MK1 had Pacman on the Palace Gates stage.
MK2 had Pong.
MK3 had Galaga.
MKT had Space Invaders.
MK4 brought back Goro's Lair and the Living Forest.

I say keep nostalgia so we can rub it in the faces of new fans how long MK has been around.

I was mainly talking about MK stuff. MK1 was only 5 years old when MK4 was out, so the nostalgia for the series was not there yet. MK since MKD has been milking on MK1-3 nostalgia.

MKD: Brought back many classic characters and a lot of old stages
MKA: Had every MK character on the roster and brought back some old MK1-3 stages
MKvsDCU: Brought back Liu Kang's arcade dropping fatality
MK9: Was a giant nostalgia game
MKX: Brought back klassic outfits and fatalities.

So Pacman, Pong, Galaga, and Space Invaders weren't considered nostalgia in the 90s?

Create a character would be cool if they totally revamp it. However it would take too much time and I rather them focus on gameplay and a good story then doing something gimmicky. My roster idea for MK11.

Returning from MKX:

Cassie Cage

Erron Black
Lui Kang
Jacqui Briggs
Kitana
Kenshin - A fan favorite from Ed Boon. He is 99% likely to return.
Kotal Kahn - Didn't die in the last game and he is still the ruler of Outworld.
Kung Lao
Kung Jin
Mileena
Raiden
Reptile
Scorpion
Sub-Zero
Takeda
Tanya (She was DLC)

Absent from MKX:

Ermac - If he is ending is canon then Shang Tsung has all of his souls.
Ferra & Torr - As much I like them, they are the least popular out of the newer characters. I can see them sitting out in MK11.
Kano - Have him be lock up by the Social Forces and don't have him return until MK12 or later
Goro - He can appear in the story and be a NPC in the story mode. I'm just sick of Goro being a sub-boss. I want to see someone new.
Johnny Cage - Sonya, Johnny and Jax can still appear in the story mode as NPC. I do want the newer MK characters have a bigger role this time around.
Jax - Same with Johnny
Quan Chi - He is dead and should stay dead until MK12 or later. I think having no Shao Kahn, Shinnok and Quan Chi can allow Shang Tsung make a proper come back.
Sonya - Johnny
Shinnok - Was defeated in the last game. Main bosses rarely return in the next game

Returning from MK9 and MK4-MKA:

Baraka – Always been a popular fan favorite and death really means nothing to popular characters
Bo' Rai Cho – Another popular fan favorite
Cyrax - A lot of demand to have him to return and we never knew what happen to him after MK9.
Fujin - With Raiden gone bad, let's give Fujin a major role this time.
Kabal - He has not been in a major game in a while and can still be in the roster despite being dead.
Jade - A lot of fans where upset that she didn't return in MKX. She can be on the main roster or DLC
Noob - With Quan Chi dead, Noob can take over as the leader of The Brotherhood of Shadow
Rain - A very popular fan favorite and it would be nice to see him be a fighter that is not DLC
Sektor
Shang Tsung - Multiple MKX endings hint of his return. It would be good to see him get a proper come back.

The rest of the roster can be new characters. I didn't list Reiko and Havik since I don't think we will know what will happen in the comics yet for them the last time I checked.

YES!!!!
I've been saying this for a while now.
While I usually don't care too much for having too many returning Trilogy characters in future MK games, Shang Tsung is probably my exception from MK9.
Shang Tsung was always someone else's puppet in the original timeline and in MK9, and now that all the puppet masters are dead or incapacitated in some form or another (Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, Shinnok), it would be nice to see Shang Tsung being re-made into an awesome villain, with no one holding him back.

I hate nostalgia, it's such a useless emotion, it stops everything and everyone in every aspect of life to move forward, in this case MKX, with all the classic stuff that's filling the game with shitty and bland stuff, they could spend the time and resources used on that to create new and original stuff.

Fvck nostalgia, let's progress.

MK11 needs a new sub-boss though. We are long over due for a new sub-boss since MKX could have revamp Moloch or created a new sub-boss for the game. Moloch had potential to be good, but he came off as a generic boss in MKDA. With his ball on his hand, they could have done some brutal x-rays and fatalities with it.

Moloch has always been quite unique. They could have a done A LOT with him and Dhramin.

But it was far too important to included 4 human special forces kids in X. You can't blame them.

Two.

Takeda is a member of the Shirai Ryu, and Kung Jin is a Shaolin warrior.

I'm not a big fan of the Special Forces stuff in MKX -- it'd be difficult to pick a more bland set of protagonists -- but the numbers are certainly exaggerated xD

Goodnes, no.
I hope that Kreate-A-Kharacter never ever comes back, along with Kreate-A-Fatality.
I hope that those 2 things get long forgotten.
It felt like Midway was saying "We're too lazy to come up with Fatalities for 60+ characters, so instead YOU do it."

Kreate a Kharacter was fine and I had TONS of fun with it. It's just too fun creating a character for MK that in your mind is 100% cannon.

The thing that should disappear however is this 3-variation system. As pointless as it can get.

Variations add new moves, and completely change the character's play style.

X-ISM, A-ISM, and V-ISM is far more desirable than that stupid-ass Kreate-a-Kharacter shit we got in Armageddon. In fact, let me take that a step further and say I don't want ANY form of customization. Do you really think I want to see Liu Kang with Elvis Presley hair?

I love the variation system but it should be more balanced next time, its stupid to have some characters like Sub and Mileena with only 4 specials and some characters like Tremor with more than 12.

I think once the next MK game comes out, they might have to reduce the variation system to 2 instead of 3, especially if we get more than 30 kombatants. I love the system, but like the others above me said, need some balancing reworking.

Also I agree that a new sub-boss is badly needed, for not only intimidating for treading to prepare for final boss, but also for the challenge, especially now that Goro in MK9-X was a major disappointed fight.

There's one thing they definitely NEED to add in the next game: A time-over animation for losing a round. Honestly, it looks extremely awkward and ridiculously weird seeing the fighters fall down once the time reaches 0, despite taking only one hit or not. For example: If Kung Lao loses the round by time over, he throws his razor-edged hat to the ground hard in anger before picking it back up and resumes his fighting stance.

It damages the individuality of each character and those "new moves" you speak of are mostly recycled ideas from other characters. So in this roster, you happen to have multiple characters that share the very same playstyle and moves with very similar - if not the same - mechanics. How many characters have a teleport move in at least one of their variations? Not to mention the crazy gimmicks they came up with certain characters.

I don't know why there's such a need for a traditional zoning character to be transformed into a rush-down machine in another variation.

Plus, people usually stick to one variation and that's it. Almost nobody plays but Ermac's Master of Souls.

But each to their own. I hope they don't come back in the next game.
