Becoming a more competitive TRMK?

I know that the majority of members here are casuals, and really don't care much for competitive play, but I have a shit ton of ideas to bring the hype of competitive MK here to TRMK. It's kinda lame to see MKU and TYM full of High Level players and are leveling up together but there are none here on TRMK. So I was hoping that you guys would at least help me bring the hype here so that this site won't die again Post-release and at least have some sort of discussion as the Meta evolves and tournaments go on. Most of these ideas are self explanatory but I'll wrap them up in spoiler.

weekly Video (Mondays or/and Wednesdays) series where we as experienced players discuss Basic fundamentals and general tech as the game progresses (Anti Airing, Spacing, Footsies, Poking, Etc..) either in short 3 minute videos max.

Weekly FT5s among members who are willing to participate. Basically sets against each other to gain more match up experience and for those who are a free to use what they learned from "Top Tier tech" into use in an actual set. I also had this idea to keep records of W/Ls (Out of the set) and keep them updated in the OP (via spreadsheet) so people can see how free they are or to see their gameplay improve. Of course, we'll need a tournament bracket to establish who plays who. I'll record my POV to upload w/o or w/ commentary.

Simple Podcast to discuss gameplay, recent tournaments, online tournament, to talk shit to each other.. etc lol.

Self explanatory, Double Elim, with Major tourney rules. I'll Donate a $25 PSN and Xbox card each tournament and maybe DLC character codes when they drop. If you guys are willing to donate any cards that'll be awesome to up the pot.

Everyone’s support would be greatly appreciated, and if you have any suggestions, Ideas, gripes, concerns etc. Just post in the thread or PM me. The continuation of this depends on how many people participate, I’m not expecting 50 members every week, but a decent amount of people to have fun and enjoy the game until the next NRS game releases. ​

Just push for a section of the forum devoted to more competitive chat. For example, on GTAForums all the talk of GTAV's gameplay and such was kept in the GTAO section of the forum, while people who don't wish to run into any of that stuff stayed in other sections like the Crews & Gangs and General Chat.

I know it's a pretty simple answer but some people just don't wish to get more competitive with the game, a lot of people here are into the lore and such like you said, rather than competitive gameplay. The reason the site dies, is because these people eventually get tired of the game, then move onto other games, or just hang out in off-topic sections. When they picked up the game Day 1, getting into the game more competitively has always been on the table for them, so I don't believe you can just simply try to rope them in like this. If anything, you should make an elaborate video explaining why you think competitively play is fun, to try and get them to hop on board.

This is coming from someone on the other side of the spectrum too, so thought you'd like my opinion. Reason I don't play MKX like I did MK9 is because I have dozens upon dozens of other games I haven't even touched, so really don't want to dedicate myself to the game as I did before. Anyway, just my two cents =)
 
I'll never be a competitive player myself, but I'm glad to see that you who do want to be and already are can find a way to play together and learn from eachother. ^^
 
I honestly just suck at games way too bad to ever play on that level, but I love watching high level play so I hope this works out for you guys and I'd love to peek at it.
 
Well, you can´t get competitive players if your game´s gameplay is flaweed.
we are on 2015 and there is not a projectile collision system yet?
all the character roster has projectile attacks, including characters who don´t need it(Baraka, Cage, Jax for example). It´s ok that certain characters have projectlie and long range attacks, but there should be characters with mid and close range attacks.

Jesus, I wasn't expecting that type of response from you. You're right though, and I will try my best to make a video and elaborate on why Competitive play is fun and good for the forum. We did have a "Competitive section" during MK9 "The Character Gameplay Section" and people actively posted in it, but as the numbers went down and competitive players gave this place a bad name *Cough* Tom Brady.. Then people move on to TYM.

This was more of a way to throw out ideas to make the site more competitive, I wasn't expecting everyone to just hop on ship within 30 minutes :laugh:. Guess I'll work on the video tomorrow then after work, thank you for the post because I now know where to start.

Then stop playing MK because the block button is a staple of the series, like it or not

I probably should've elaborated more on the word "Competitive" :laugh:, I don't wish to make a this a site full of professional players making noise at offline events. Just a good number of us playing the guy and a decent level to where we all enjoy playing on another and learn from each other.

I'll make another video with MK gameplay going into further detail.
 
Some good ideas in there. I wouldn't mind trying to help out in any way that I can, and I would be down for some online sessions.
 
I absolutely can't stand the street fighter or any fighting game that has similar inputs, they make me blister my fingers
 
I love fighting games in general, be it Street Fighter, Tekken, Killer Instinct or Mortal Kombat. I'm just not very good at them, but I have fun playing them. ^^

We did at one point in time, then everyone vanished. It would be easier if eveyone tried to bring the hype. Casuals and Competitive both.

Well, as said, I'm not the competitive type, nor am I very good at fighting games. But I will do my best. ^^
 
I love to get into action of competitive online ever since Injustice, but I don't know anyone else on XBL, besides Reaver that owns MKX. Plus, the connection between me and Reaver can be iffy as hell.
