Re: Tanya's Design Compared to Older Designs.
Sure, we can have a normal conversation. Here's a question for you without any sort of sarcasm behind it, Kitty: Why would you be fine with such a drastic character makeover for Tanya? She's had brown skin since her debut. Would you be fine if say, Quan Chi randomly had red skin in MKX? Better yet, what if Kitana was given Tanya's original skin color? Would you be fine with that, as well? If so, I'd like to know why. I know continuity is a bit iffy in the series but...really?
Since you're both "thinking alike," I'll respond to both of you at the same time. There's a funny thing about what I had mentioned to you, Reiko, is when you had asked me what I thought about Tanya's previous appearance, me mentioning that I liked the tone of her skin was the first time I had mentioned that anywhere on any of the sites I go on.
This would be actually the first time anyone has seen me say that about her skin tone, so no, I haven't gotten "attacked" by Tanya fans because of it. And if they are planning on verbally bashing me because of it, not only will I sit in my chair and laugh my butt off, but also will look at that user and think unkindly stuff about them for a good minute until I shrug it off and care about more meaningful stuff to do. I mean I can't tell you how many times I've had people say to me stupid crap about my favorites, you don't see me getting heavily defensive about it, so neither should they.
I couldn't care less how people think of me hating a character for their fans. I'm not the only user on these sites to look at a fan base and dislike a character. If someone has a deep, serious problem with me not liking their favorite they can speak to me themselves. And like I said before, if someone is really going to get so aggravated at me for thinking that her skin tone was fine, they need to get a hold of themselves and realize how embarrassing it is to get incredibly defensive at someone for having a different opinion. That is usually the problem. Not all, but a handful of fans that I have talked to in the past seem to have a hard time understanding what "respect other opinions" mean. That is usually the main problem I have with this fan base.
I am not all butthurt because a few fans called me some names or wish to see me dead because I spoke differently about their characters, I am mostly laughing my butt off until my gut starts hurting and tears are coming out of my eyes because I cannot understand why someone feels the need to get so defensive at criticism or differences of opinions.
I am going to ask you kindly to stop giving me a "hard time." I don't like it and it's really becoming quite aggravating every time you quote me. Please stop doing this and just have a conversation with no smart ass remarks.
And as I said before, this is the first time I've ever spoken out about the issue. And if Tanya fans really want to hate me because I think her skin tone was fine, then there's definitely some bigger issues that are needed to be checked out. I am not blind, of course I know why they got incredibly upset about this, but in my perspective, I didn't have a problem with it. So again, if her fans are going to go out of their way to harass me or whatever all because I thought her skin looked fine, bring it. The worst thing I can do is report their actions to a moderator.
I'm basically on the same boat with this.
