Final Big Boss Guess - **POSSIBLE SPOLIER**

Shang Tsung is dead, he's not coming back, that would be very underwhelming. The worst of all possibilities, even Onaga.
 
The idea of Shang Tsung coming back at all, let alone as the main villain - is so fu****g cringe-worthy. As a character, he hasn't been relevant since the MK1 era of the story. Everything after that was just filler and desperate attempts at making him something more than what he really is. The only interesting that happened to him after the MK1 portion of MK9, was when his soul/power was fused with Sindel's. He's a tool. Nothing more.
 
It would be awesome if Shinnok was the subboss as he is playable and then transforms in a bigger demon and then you have to defeat him again as the boss. Hmm I just hope he is playable...
 
My bet is that the boss has to do something with Havik. Either it is him fused with someone(Shinnok for ex.) or something(Amulet) so he becomes a chaotic being or he is responsible for the p*re shit that is happening in the end.

Imagine halfway through the story you find out Havik is the big bad... But plot twist! Turns out that Shang killed Havik earlier and has actually morphed into Havik the whole time. Or better yet morphed as Raiden and misleading the good guys!

Dude that's crazy I love that idea, I wouldn't mind! Shang was always an awesome character!

The only reason he's been irrelevant as a character or "used as a tool" is because the writers don't know how to use him. He's the original big bad of MK and was a big part of the creation of MK. His morph ability alone makes him awesome. They used him right in deadly alliance (morphing as Kung Lao to sneak up on Liu Kang before killing him) and the intro scene of Deception was one of my favourites with the Raiden/Shang/quan chi fights and subsequently teaming up.

Him being fused with Sindel in MK9 was so retarded and was seriously the stupidest death in the game. Especially for someone as powerful as Shang tsung. The reason I'd like to see him in the game is because they've done a great job so far in mkx of revamping EVERYONE. I'd like Shang to be given the same chance to be awesome
 
Shang Tsung has been a boss before. So he won't return as a boss in this game. Ed Boon himself said many months ago that the boss in MKX won't be a returning boss.
 
I still hope, it will be possessed version of Reiko, i hope they would add normal version of him as playable character on main roster. Maybe unlockable in story mode or living towers.

Then explain why death didn't stop Kung Lao, Kitana, Liu Kang, Kuai Liang, and Jax from coming back...

Shang Tsung didn't just die like those you mention. He was absorbed entirely into Sindel to empower her. There's no word about what happened to him after her death.

I would assume he is still fused with Sindel... Who now belong to Quan Chi. So in a way, he is already kinda confirmed in this game. *shrug*
 
I don't see Shinnok, Quan Chi and Shang Tsung all being in the same game -- not with this level of detail, and three character variations.

I mean just helping out bruh I did the same knowing cyrax will not be playable lol.

Lol So, he was not relevant in MK:DA? He killed the hero of the whole franchise, for crying out loud!

Shang Tsung was pretty relevant in Deadly Alliance.
