People's extreme love and passion towards characters

But... there's no sun in outworld (or at least it's always cloudy) and they don't have the technology to build solariums lol.

She may not be african or afroamerican but she's still black.

No, she is not. By that logic, literally every single race in the world is "black" , excluding caucasians.

Calling someone who is (Hispanic, Aboriginal, Native American, Asian, or Middle Eastern) "Black" is absolutely ridiculous...

Black is a color, a tone, not a race.

You can be a little dark skinned Caucasian or a light skinned Afroamerican. Or a white Asian.

In everyday American usage, Black and White refer to African American American and Caucasian respectively. No need to split hairs.

Here's what I noticed so far, everyone under 30 is screaming for 3D kharacters, getting rid of iconic kharacters, or going with a new cast entirely. Somehow SF has stayed popular without a lot of changes to it's original cast but added a ton of new ones. That's great for them but they don't have a genuine storyline either. It's only natural for you to be drawn to what you know, this isn't a sports team where the lineup can change drastically and people get over it over time because they know changes like that are inevitable.

You can't compare a MK to movies or sitcoms. People bring up movies when we know that changing the main character turns fans off from the franchise and that's why they reboot the whole thing. When that happens you get different actors, changes to the story(most times for the worst) and time lines. ST the original show kept most if not all of original cast and the other STs were just spinoffs not the true ST. MK no matter what name came after it was still MK and all had the OGs in it because that's who we as fans know. If there was just a blank poster with either the dragon or raiden on it you'd know exactly what it is.

So yes you can get rid of the entire Kast and still call it MK but will you lose some if not the majority of the fan base? Hell yeah you would and you'd be at the mercy of new comers to the game. Will this MK be the first ever for some? Yes, but what drives the sells are us the fans who've been playing 10 or more years. If NRS or Boon gave the 3D fans what they wanted they'd most of the OG fans, just like if the 3D fans didn't get a few of theirs in. Here's a fact that most of you keep avoiding or overlooking, the OG Kast might not be to your liking but it sure as hell is the thing that's sellin this game and made the franchise.

Here's the thing though; if we got 5 or 6 of the 3D era (which can be rotated) in future MK games are we being unreasonable? Is adding even some of those characters such a hassle? Is it going to completely ruin the game? Will it mean sales will be low? No, it doesn't. You can try and tell me that the Trilogy crew is what makes big bucks fine. No one is arguing about that. But should the 3D era fans never see their favourites again? I personally don't hate any of the characters, I can appreciate them all, but 3D crew deserves a second chance. If all the returning characters from now on will be Trilogy + Quan Chi & Kenshi, then, well...the least we deserve is a flat out deconfirmation for the 3D guys from the beginning. None of this "Oh yeah we're wiping the slate clean" and then not sticking by it.

I couldn't have said this any better.

*Applauds* Wise words man, wise words.

It's not unreasonable to expect 5-6 3D era characters, so let's look at who have so far: Shinnok, Quan Chi, Tanya, Tremor & Kenshi. Granted 2 are DLC of which 1 was never really in a main game, that's still 5. There's still a small possibility of Havik / Reiko / Fujin so 3d era fans have little to complain about imo. Honestly, outside of the 5 and 3 possible ones mentioned, who else would 3D era fans really want then? Havik / Fujin added and I'd say NRS did a great job of including the most interesting post trilogy characters ever.

Aww shucks you guys, I didn't think I said anything that no one else has XD

PS: plot twist I'm a girl XD

You explained it the best, though.
This coming from someone who's played every single MK since MK1 was in the arcades, in 1992.
Hell, I know that most of the post-MK3 / 3D debut characters sucked in their time, and I'm not asking for all of them back.
I AM asking for SOME of those characters to come back like Fujin, Reiko and Havik, who I believe deserve a 2nd chance at redemption.

As I've said before:
Mortal Kombat 4 had a majority of the MKII playable cast and all of the MK3 playable cast gone, with 7 new characters (46% of the roster was NEW), yet it was still a great game.
Mortal Kombat 3 only had 8 of the original playable characters from the 1st 2 games, also with 7 new characters (46% of the roster was also NEW), and it was also a great game.
B-list characters can be rotated from game to game and don't need to be in every single game, as the old timeline games have proven in the past.

If you're going to count DLC, please exclude Tremor. He's a spin off character, not a 3D character and MKX will be his first playable appearance at that. Also, if Havik, Fujin, Reiko were to be on disc I'd be satisfied. They would likely have some plot relevance and keeping them cameos (if they even get those) is kinda a douche move. It would be great if they were DLC and all (since their playable odds are pretty much nonexistent otherwise) but then I'd have to wait for a Komplete Edition to play them, since I actually can't get DLC. Which is why I would prefer them on disk.

Commander I swear the beauty of 3D crew is that none of them HAVE to be in every game. I'm so glad you pointed out the rotating cast thing, because most people assume that those fighters will appear in every game eventually ousting all the trilogy ones. Which isn't the case. Add some of them here, add some of them there, things will feel fresh and no one will feel like the 3D era is out to kick out the classics forever.

I don't like that mindset, that MK1-2 characters have to be in the game and everyone else are replacable. I find some MK1-2 characters to be replacable as well.

+1

I don't care about Baraka, and certainly in this game I could live without Sonya. I think she's a wasted slot tbh.

Agreed 100%.

Characters like Baraka, Smoke, Kabal, Sindel, Stryker, Shang Tsung, Jade, Reptile, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileeena Cyrax, Sektor, Johnny, Sonya, Jax and Ermac can be rotated from here on out with the MKX roster.
Every MK1 - 3 character doesn't need to be in EVERY game, because if you do that then we end up with another Armageddon because people can't let go of characters.
Some will be in every game, like Scorpion and Sub-Zero (due to icon status), but not all of them need to be in every game, all the time.
That's really my point.
