Kotal Kahn: To Be or Not to Be

His intros with Raiden don't show any hatred towards each other. They never showed an intro between Kotal and Quan Chi

Not necessarily, no. However, keep in mind...there are multiple intros for the characters so there certainly could be a more aggressive one.

I have a feeling that we will find out that Kotal is full of crap and he is actually just playing Sonya. I don't want this to happen, because the anti-hero approach would be fresh and interesting, but I just can't trust NR to write a story that well.

Lol Have some faith, bro. It could happen. I try to be optimistic when going into new games and I'm going to do the same with this one. I don't think NRS will go the betrayal route with Kotal, though, to be honest. I think a misunderstanding happens and that's what makes things turn sour.

I have the impression he is the leader that would make Machiavelli proud.

He had the virtue and the fortune to reach power.

He is striking his enemies and stroking his friends.

He may show power for those who threat his rule, but he seems to hear his people.

In other words, to be a ruler of Outworld, you must be brute enough to put your enemies down, but with that many races, you must know how to deal with all of them.

If Shao Kahn has chosen the path to be feared, I have the impression Kotal has chosen the path to be respected.

I'm not saying he is the most peaceful individual in Outworld (well, he drinks form hearts, right? Can't say they were from animals), but surely he may be the most prominent leader to deal with a cosmopolitan world and to stop once for all this merging thing, just live their lifes.

I don't know. I'm having the feeling we will have to support him.

I mean, it's him or Mileena. Who would be crazy enough to support her?? (I'm talking about story, no offense, Mileena fans! :handkiss: )

THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID, DUDE! WELL SPOKEN!

As soon as you said Machiavelli, I thought of Tupac but when you said, we will have to support him, my mind immediately went here:

ive not seen him display any interesting moves or creative combo chains. so when it comes to testing new characters hes at the bottom of the pile so far for me which is a shame coz hes a cool design but all his variations seem to be about increasing damage and stealing health back using totems and things like that rather than actual moves

Something irks me about him though, if you notice in most of his intro animations he cuts his hand with what is most likely a Kamidogu, which, if you remember from the comic, most likely grants him some kind of power boost, so he kind of strikes me as a cheater. Didn't one of the comic descriptions say he resorts to blood magic to fight goro?

What do you mean "resorts to"? Raiden "resorts to" lightning magic to fight his opponents.

Those are the comic description's words i think it's either #7 or #8 if I remember right.
No need to get snippy.

I really don't see him being evil. Just by seeing what he's like in the comics, I really don't get the impression that he's extremely evil.

What got me is hearing how he's trying to maintain leader status against Mileena, and I'd definitely would love to know what she intends on doing with Outworld if she were to become the leader.

My opinions about this character literally changed after reading the last comic. How he doesn't want to fight, just came to talk. But of course, everyone's skeptical about him and the other two surrounding him. I just... I just want to know the biographies right now.

No cool moves at all? Damn, what about the attacks he does with that cool sword? Or the small little Aztec pyramids he summons? I really like his X-Ray, too. It is definitely my favorite!

You and I both! I really just wish we'd get at least one or two biographies so we can have somewhat of an idea of what the hell is going on. The two I'm dying most for are Kotal Kahn and Ferra/Torr! I really want to know what Kotal's species is...

You can cheat in Mortal Kombat? We gotta dude who punches nuts with a special move. Didn't realize blood magic was off the table.
