Kung Lao Revealed!

I guess I can give NRS the benefit of the doubt since I'm still trying to cope with how The Walking Dead is handling Season 5 (a lot of it was stupid, unnecessary, and boring). If Season 5b turns out decent, I'll put my faith back into the integrity of the story for MKX. Otherwise, I now want the full story leaked to me since it barely even matters to me now.

Because we have seen only 2 female characters since E3! It's been 7 months since E3 and ALL reveals so far have been men. How many females will be in this game then? 3 out of 24+? Where's the variety? It's just absurd.

Or did everyone in the studio turn suddenly gay or something? Is MKX supposed to be a LGBT game or what? No offence to LGBT people... whatever floats your boat... but...

... every new reveal is another nail in the coffin for this game.

MKX started out A M A Z I N G, but the past few months? Destroying the game for no reason. Like... the hype is officially gone for me now and I'm starting to think I'll pass.

I haven't been this disappointed with a game since... god knows when... Ubisoft games don't count... that's a whole other level of absurd.

99% TIME DEVS CHANGE THEIR MINDS DURING DEVELOPMENT -> game sucks or plays weird. There have been so many changes and struggles with this MK game since its announcement that I'm starting to question if it will come out on time and if it will live up to expectations. I really think MKX is the last MK.

If just 1 dead character will be back it ruins everything. Everything.

P.S. I apologize if this post seems like a rage of mumbo jumbo, but I'm so pi$$sed about this right now that I couldn't hold it back. It's just... such a slap in the face.

You guys are being too harsh on NRS. When have they let us down other than in Armaggeddon (which was mediocre, not THAT bad)
 
BTW - First week after E3 I saw a roster posted online for the game at the official forums by someone. It got pulled down and I haven't seen it since. It had many returning characters and was mediocre. Maybe it was discussed also here or on Twitter. But main point: roster sucked. And I think Kung Lao was part of it. I hope that roster was false. It had Kenshi, Kitana, Kabal and Sektor on it and well... ugly.

Anyway, I REALLY HOPE this game won't waste its potential.

Anyone remember those silhouettes Ed Boon posted? The Tom Landry silhouette should have been a MAJOR giveaway about Kung Lao's status.

I doubt Kenshi and Kabal will make it, Kabal is dead and Kenshi has nothing to do since Shang is gone (or is he...)
 
I don't know. It was basically a topic with a list and it got deleted pretty quickly. Then I saw the list once on Twitter and haven't seen it since. I wish I could find it. I know EVERYBODY speculated about the roster after the announcement trailer came out, but for some reason this list seemed different to me and stuck in my head. I saw it there within the first week the forums opened. I registered there to post, but after realizing how chaotic and ugly those boards were I came here - where all the stars are at lol :D

Yeah true and am also little disappointed with this reveal i was expecting reptile or ermac. The only good reveal is kano so far. And for the females i think there will be around 7-8 females

Because he is a valuable character since he was one of the most used and popular characters in MK (casual and tournament) and also one of the more distinctive faces of MK that a lot of people recognize. This is in comparison to lesser known characters such as Jade, Sindel, Nightwolf and possibly Smoke. Storywise, he is still somewhat relevant since he is a conventional hero type. But story does not matter too much, and because of this, the producers will not let the story control their choices in which characters come back or not.

On top of that, it was said that the reason Boon likes Quan Chi is because of his ability to resurrect individuals and have dead characters return. All in all, Kung Lao is just more of a valuable character.
 
Think about this though...

If Kung Lao is in the game... and Liu Kang is possibly alive... What will their interaction be like? Maybe hate if Liu is Dark Demi-God?

And if Kung Lao is in the game... and Liu Kang is really dead... Will he try avenging him? Revenge on Raiden?

These possibilities are the only thing what make Kung Lao in MKX interesting for me. Other than that I think his inclusion is very short-sighted and stupid.
 
i go with the option of Kung Lao trying to bring his best freind back to the light if he goes rogue/dark
and obviously be left with no other choice but to kill him
 
I imagine Kung Lao is going to end up being the main opposition against Liu Kang if he does go evil, as well as maybe be master to the next generation of fighters in the White Lotus. Perhaps he'll have a kid as well?
