Whether Ed Boon planned Rain as their DLC or not, doesn't matter.
The fact remains that the characters to have such high demand to be in, were:

- Rain
- Cyber-Smoke
- Fujin
- Reiko
- Shinnok

Out of those 5, only 1 of those made it in, as DLC.

I must disagree with you on the DLC front there are reasons for they being not included.

Cyber-Smoke: We have Cyber-Subzero, and his wouldn't make sense in this game, how would they explain it?
Shinnok, Fujin and Rekio: If the ending of this game hints at anything, they should be, and WILL be kept for the sequel. If there is one.

are you people that obsessed with story, that one little edit or addition would ruin the entire ****ing game?!

seriously though, if Robo Smoke is DLC then his story would mean jack shit anyway. Just like the rest of the DLC characters. I dont see why people use that excuse everytime. And even if he's in the this game as DLC, he doesnt have to come back in the sequal you know. Its not like his story will taint anything. As they arnt meant to be taken seriously anyway. Its the characters people want, not their story.

I never understood that argument as well. DLC is just fun add-ons. its not taking from the story mode, its just a classic character people missed. who can say no to another character in the game?

exactly, spot on. Glad you understand. I dont understand why so many characters are being limited to people just because of this.

yeah, just look at the shit they did with freddy. Quite laughable. Even Skarlett who never even existed has not affected anything.

people who dont want certain characters just becuase of their story really dont know what they are talking about. As nothing matters at all with DLC. I dont expect for Skarlett to come back in future titles, and niether should robo smoke, but that doesnt mean he shouldnt be DLC in mk9

And, yeah, I totally agree with you; I never understood the whole "Cyber Smoke shouldn't be DLC because Cyber Sub-Zero replaced him" argument, either. Honestly, I don't understand any of the arguments I've heard against Cyber Smoke being DLC. But of all things I've heard, story?

As an avid fan of MK's story, with about a dozen story theories for MK10, people take story way too damn seriously if they think story relevance should affect a character becoming DLC.
