MK HD Kollection

Re: HD Kollection in 2011?

That doesn't mean it can't be a date release for a video game? I mean video games come out on Christmas, Halloween, Valentines, Martin Luther Kings day, etc..

it wont happen...18 days prior to MK 9...i think not...

I agree, there is no chance the game comes out on April 1st, but I do find it interesting that a.) Buy.com still has it listed and b.) the game is apparently selling extremely well there too! According to Buy.com's listing, the game is "Shakin'" and is the 55th most purchased item today out of everything they sell there. Buy.com will be making a LOT of refunds come April 1st. I guess they're the fools!

Guys, go here http://www.netherrealm.com/contact and send them a message about it. They'll get the picture if enough people ssend the same message. Wish I could just play UMK3 or MKT on XBLA in the meantime. I'm almost tempted to buy the PS version, but not yet...not yet. I hope they're porting it as we speak, because every day I'm hating MK 9 and the people inherently responsible for whatever happens to the arcade trilogy that defined 'gamer' in its own right. To me, that still means two-dimensional life on-screen.

First of all, they already know how much we want it. Many people have already written them on Twitter, Facebook and in e-mail. There was a HUGE reaction when the game was first rumored, so they know the fans would buy it.

Secondly.... how can you hate MK9? The game isn't even out yet and you already hate it? Hate is an awfully harsh word. I'm as big of fan as any of the original trilogy, and that's precisely why I'm so excited for April 19th.

Flooding them with unsolicited email will just make someone's job miserable and make them consider taking down the contact page. I'd avoid spamming them in this way and find more constructive ways to convince them this project is something you'd like to get behind.

yeah...i wont be writing any letters or telling them why the MK HD collection would make sense...why feed them more when im sure they are full....it would make no change...if it exists...NRS probably has no dealings with it...im sure WB sees the big picture and want it to happen just based on the response, but now is the time.....i have MK 2 on the PS3 and MK1-MK3 on the PSP...as well as MAME..would it be nice to see in HD especially if it looked like that deviantart fan pic HELL YEAH!....i dont know why your hating MK9 thats your own business and sucks for you...MK9 is shaping up to be a great game...and its possible that they might include arcade ports hidden within it...your age reflects your ignorance

I agree completely. They know we want this game. I think they're just being quiet about it to maximize the new game's sales. I don't see a reason to pester them about it. I'll mention it from time to time on FB, but that's as far as I'm going.

Re: HD Kollection in 2011?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember discussion in this forum about the fact that the original 3 games could possibly take up several terabytes if all of the thousands of pics of the fighters were in 1080p for every frame. If so there would be no way they could fit them all on one disk. Maybe they are going to build 3d models of the characters, shoot mocap of the original moves and then put the 3d model over that while keeping the game on a 2d fighting plane, similar to how they are doing MK9 but unlike MK9 the camera will stay at the same angle like it did in the originals. However this would probably require changes to the code which could unfortunately cause slight changes in gameplay.

However if they were shooting for MKHD when Patrick first reported it in august I would assume they would be finished by now. (With the shooting, not the game)

MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

So yeah, long time listener, first time caller type of thing here. I thought that the news that I have on the HD Arcade Kollection would make a good first post. So the fact of the matter is that it is very real indeed and not some hoax and or mystery that all of us apparently think it is. I really don't know why it has/is been kept under such secrecy but I do know for a fact that it is real and it is planned on being released. Let me just say that I have access to a source close, more or less, to the source where the information is being presented. So this is how it stands at this point in time.

The description for it reads like: "Includes the entire original cast from MK, MK 2, and UMK3. Presented in both original and newly updated HD format."

360 release date: First week of October.

PS3 release date: First week of July.

Unfortunately that's as much as I know at this point. Why the separate release dates or anything else related to it for that matter, I don't know. I'll keep you guys posted whenever I get something new my way as well.

KK, keep us informed with any info you get from the close source of the source that is presenting information from the source.

The original cast? They brought back people from 20 years ago to go through the same motions? It was hard enough for some of them to get it right the first time, I'm not sure that 20 years later it'll be any easier.

Perhaps you can get verified by Pat, Tim or someone else who also have sources and then we can go from there.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

Hope this is true, and welcome to the forums, but I'll still doubt it until I know your sources.

Re: HD Kollection in 2011?

the real question is. do digitized games have to be 1080p? is there some way that they can slightly upgrade the method in which they captured the old games and just fudge it a little bit to not make it look very outdated? can't they just shoot mkhd with slightly better cameras and then use filters and studio tricks to smooth out the edges? i think people are too caught up in this idea that it has to be cutting edge technology. no. it just needs to look nice. and if they did try to use 3d models on mkhd i would be in favor of it, as long as they use 2d hitboxes, and as long as the animation was faithful to the old games. mk9 has horrible animation and 3d hitboxes.

As far as I'm concerned, the game is obviously possible. As Pat said, they were filming at one point and, as we all know, got far enough along that the game had a scheduled release date, a UPC code and even boxart. I can't imagine it would have gotten to that point and then they suddenly realized, "Hey guys, this is going to take over 50 discs to store all this info.... we're screwed!" They wouldn't have even started it if that were an issue. That being said, it's obvious something came up since the game isn't out yet, but I don't think that was the problem.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

While this would be interesting, I've seen Tim say a few times that his sources have stated that the project is dead (or something along those lines). If there's any truth to this however, it'll be very interesting to see what happens.
