So do you think this game will have a nice competitive scene like SSF4?

SSB... well, it has a sizable community and opinions vary. Your typical SSB tournament player isn't really a fighter fan in the traditional sense. You can say it's serious enough to have organized tournaments but the game itself... well, opinions vary.

SNK's games are legit fighters but rarely get represented in tourneys. Capcom typically dominates overall, and then you have Namco with Tekken.

Sorry... online in Tekken is like a completely different game.

I can't pass on an opportunity to knock T6's ultra crappy net code. It's not even good for practice unlike SSFIV's.

They dropped the ball with the home releases, so hopefully they'll get TTT2 right.

No offense, but you beat up a bunch of people who don't know how to play the game. That doesn't mean much. I watched some of the truck vids and most of the players I saw didn't even understand the concept of block and punish. It's nice that you won, but I wouldn't be bragging about winning that tournament.

Come to Evo and do well, then you can brag. ^_^

Lol, how about beating the guys that are driving the truck that play the game non-stop whenever they can? I will be going to Evo, you can be sure of that.

Super Smash Bros Melee was in EVO for many years and had alot of balance, depth, and was overall actually amazing. It had a thriving community and it's actually the first tournament level play fighter I started with.
Super Smash Bros Brawl is an embarrassment to all fighting games and should be reserved for people who don't take fighting games seriously. They ruined the name Smash by making it. They will never make another good one again.

The Nintendo team making Melee actually good was a ridiculous fluke. They took away almost 50% of reasons Melee was good in Brawl and made it the most unbalanced retardation to hit the planet.
KoF could be taken seriously but it has absolutely no community I'd think.

DrDogg don't get offended that I dislike a game that you enjoy. Let's keep this civilized. It's done. Drop it already.

You misunderstood my comment. I don't personally like MVC3, but that doesn't stop me from understanding the game or recognizing its merits. I'm not offended by your comment at all. I simply think you lack the knowledge to make those comments. Before you bash on the game or jump on the "Sentinel is broken" bandwagon, you should find better comp.

Remember, it was you who started bashing the game. I simply called you on your comments. Don't act like this is some personal attack.

This may sound like a stupid question but are the games of Smash Bros and King Of Fighter tournament serious games?

Smash and KoF are both considered tournament fighters (although KoF12 was a general disappointment). Like MK (and to a lesser extent, DOA) a lot of people in the SF and Tekken communities view Smash as anything but a competitive fighter. However, there's no denying the fact that it has a strong tournament following. Even those who think Brawl > Melee can't argue the fact that Brawl still has plenty of tournaments with a large turnout... far more than any MK games these days.

I don't think you'll see Tekken run well online until internet technology improves. Tekken requires more reactionary timing than SF. You can't break a grab in SF after you see the initial grab animation (online or offline). You have to rely on your knowledge of the game and predict the grab (in most cases). In Tekken, when playing offline, you can avoid every throw if you're good enough, but you do this by reacting to the opponent's throw animation (looking at their arms to determine the break). Things like this make it extremely difficult to play Tekken properly online.

I would be very surprised if TTT2 is any better than the post-patch T6 net code.

Smash Bros is seriously the dumbest fighter ever created.

I know a lot of people that would say the same thing about Mortal Kombat. No need to bash a game just because you don't personally like it.

Again, no offense, but just because someone plays a fighting game a lot doesn't automatically make them good at it. I could probably take out the staff and I've hardly touched MK9.

I'm not saying you don't have skills, just that the truck tour is not the place to prove it. I'll see you at Evo (assuming I think the game is solid post-release).

That is a pretty bold statement (and not just because I literally put it in bold lettering lol).

Did you mean the truck tour staff or the staff of NRS? Depending on your answer my opinion of how bold your statement was may change.

None taken. See you at Evo.

The fact that people fight over games is pathetic, tbh.

Agreed, in the end no ones opinion will change. If they hate a game, they will always hate it. If they love it, they will always hate it. Doesn't matter what the opponents say, it's all wasted energy in the grand scheme of things.

DCP, i just thought you were a ****y know-it-all, but i gotta give you props, man. you're a real mk fan, bro. i just saw your trucktour interview. i used to love the game like that too, but i'm 29 now and after they stopped the digitized stuff, i just got turned off from mk. guess that's why i hate so much. lol. anyway. good luck at evo.

Thanks man. I do come off as arrogant at times, but I really mean no harm. I've had an MK game in my hands since I was 3, and I've followed the game every since. I even drove an hour and a half all 3 days just to play the demo as much as I could. Anyways, yeah the last couple have been huge turn-offs, but seriously now is the right time to be an MK fan. The game is amazing, and I just played the demo :P The final version will be even better.

dcp will win evo - with johnny cage - you heard it here first - if you win dcp i deserve a shout out

none of you have even seen what this game is capable of yet. I get there is a truck tour but it does not give you time to actually get good at the game. Have you ever played online fighting games when they first released. Nobody knows what they are doing. I usually kick peoples butts the first couple of days just out of basic defense alone. When you give people a couple of days at the game, giving people time to actually get the feel for the game then you can see the competition. My point being none of you can talk yet.

What you're saying is true, but I honestly feel I was more advanced than most players there. Johnny Cage's moves are all different from what they use to be (minus the Shadow Kick) but Scorpion's are all the same, so obviously if you have semi-good knowledge of the game you can do pretty well with Scorpion. So naturally, everyone was picking Scorp. No one was juggling or anything until I came in. And it wasn't just the same juggle over and over I was pulling off pretty crazy stuff for someone who just started playing. I wasn't button mashing, I just got use to Johnny and some game mechanics. Not saying I'm good, just have a headstart I guess.

I hear what you saying if you think it's your type of fighting game but as far as competition man you got a very small dose of the competition that is about to come. I get your excited though because you were probably kickin butt at the truck tour but I wasn't there. HeHeHe. Kiddin. Props on going to three of the events.

At an entry level, both games are identical (in terms of controls). Please stop saying MK controls are easier than SF controls.. ^_^

The controls are different in street fighter you have your light, medium, and heavy attacks... in MK you have high punch, low punch, high kick, low kick...in MK9 your controling every limb...street fighter and MK are not the same game if it where street fighter motherf***ers would respect mortal kombat...MK never really had any big tournaments because of the depth and complexity it had,..MK9 is looking to change all that

I just want to say one thing, i could care less if Mortal Kombat 9 is or isnt tournament worthy. I am going to buy this game becuase I have been an MK fan since the beggining and its always had the best story in a fighting game, not to mention I love the dark theme and violent fatalities and moves. I live Ninjas, I love the sound effects and mythology of the game, The level design are absolutely awesome. I also like SSF4, and am looking forward to sf x tekken, but for the time being MK is the only game on my list right now.

Thank you guys for answering my question! I am going to rep yall when I have a khance.

@Eks and Fubi0, get off those series! They are very fun! You didn't have to talk down on them. If you don't like it get off them and don't play it bekause I ask if they are tournament serious games not if they are good or not. So immature.

@NothingRhymesWithCircus, what was so bad about Brawl?

lol, so the kid dsp is excited about mk. i hope you get hot bro. maybe we can game. i bought a tournament stick for xbox now i have to get one for the ps3.

@NothingRhymesWithCircus, what was so bad about Brawl?

1. Super ridiculously unbalanced(There is a God Tier)
2. Took away wavedashing, dash dancing, SHFFLing, and many things that made the game have a ton of options.
3. Lowered the speed of the game.
4. The stale move factor(if you use one move too much it gets weaker)
5. MLG, EVO, and WCG stopped taking it seriously
6. It was generally really nooby.

I have a past with Brawl of course because I was looking forward to it being good because Melee's standards. But in the end everyone learned that Nintendo could give a flying shit about the competitive community around the world for Melee.
