Kratos to star in upcoming mortal kombat

I just love to read this forums... opinions are like colors. Oh well.

At the end we all will be receiving a great product, a great game. You all are going to buy it nonetheless, even if it has Kratos, Starkiller or a James Hetfield render.

360 users, surely you will have your bonus feature.

For you that don't like Kratos in the game, rest asured that he will not be in the story mode so you won't have to bear with him. In the single player, arcade, vs, whatever he will be, just don't select him. Just leave us "fanboys" to enjoy his inclusion in the game.

dude james hetfield and a metalica soundtrack for the xbox 360 version would be amazing!!! jokes aside i couldnt agree more
 
NoOOoOO no Kratos, please just be a rumor!! This tarnishes the entire "reboot of the golden era of MK". itlll just feel like a horrible fanfic like Mk vs DC. just envisioning seeing kratos fighting an MK character seems so awkward... If its true, then WB clearly sold out the franchise just to garner more attention and prospective buyers. Just because GoW is gory doesnt make the protagonist an immediate shoe-in for the roster. Thats like adding Dante or bayonetta for the same reason.... UGHGhGh im disgusted by even the thought-totally partially lowered my hype for this game.

that would be fine and all if i wouldt be disgusted by his mere likeness-we would still have to fight him on the arcade ladder and on online. this game has been coming along perfect and the franchise's revival should be reseved for the characters that gave life to the series, not some neo-freak. its fine if hes DLC, he just doesnt DESERVE a spot on the main roster

Well thats such an idiotic statement to make, i still dont see how this ruins the idea of this game *rolls eyes*.

This just proves clearly im not the only one who feels ripped off with the Kratos announcement. Oh and what do you know, Zafiro has the same essential reason on why this ruins the initial hype of this game, as i do. No matter what, most people who wanted this back to basics, Fan service, hyped up MK game are going to be pissed off by the announcement, glad to see theres a lot of fans who share the same views as I.

i completely agree Taj. We may be called purists, but thats exactly the issue- this game was stated as paying an 'hommage to the golden era of MK",and guests characters werent included in that. its not fair that now that the series is being revived and perfected a character that has nothing to do with the franchise (besides violence) is getting a spot in the game. this was meant to be a talored game for the fans, characters, and details that brought MK popularity, not an attempt at mass-advertisement and marketing.
 
Why would the people with negative opinions and are bashing the idea be punished? What the hell is the point of discussing/debating over the update if everyone is gonna share the same opinion?
 
The thing is, were not bashing anyone, we are just stating why its not cool for Kratos to be in it. A debate is a debate, you cant ban people for debating, no one is talking shit to anyone, so its okay.
 
Im guessing mortal kombat doesnt think they are going to sell alot of MK9 games. I think putting Kratos is not a good idea for us fans. I mean I love crossovers, but not for mortal kombat. Now when i play mk9 on my ps3, im not gonna get that mortal kombat feel and spirit. knowing that there is a GOW character in it. I got the feeling that is going ot take the fame away from the mortal kombat characters. I am so disspointed in NRS for this. Hopefully this is a rumor. I hope it is cause it will be better with just mortal kombat characters. I hope they change their mind if its true, but hell whats the ****ing point! There not gonna listen to us. If he is in, then **** it he is in. The ones who dont agree(like me) were gonna have to live with it. **sigh**

I know you're trying to make a point. But it's not working. The quote is what I call "No Duh" logic. I was simply helping you out.
 
This is a response to everyone.
The entire basis for all your arguments it seems, is that you simply hate Kratos. You can't stand to think think of the character being included in MK9, and all your other arguments stem from that. If you had all been less vocal about him and more about the crossover aspect in general, over the course of this thread, I might think differently. But it's obvious that every single person who has been against including him, has been vocal about how much they hate him, not that he's a crossover character that doesn't belong. That always seems to come second. Which means your opinions of the character himself are getting the better of you.

So here's some points for you all:
His inclusion is NOT a sign of the MK Team feeling unconfident with their product. They are showing confidence by taking on the challenge to incorporate his design and gameplay into MK9 with respect to both series.
The game is NOT specially catered to your vision of MK. You definitely DON'T decide who is or isn't an MK fan based on this. Stop referring to fans as people who only agree with your opinion.
The inclusion of ONE character you dislike does NOT render the fan service useless. That is an ignorant mentality that forsakes every quality aspect of this game. You are still getting everything the game offers, only YOU are letting this exclusive detract you from it.
It is NOT disrespectful to the fans, because Kratos is not forced into any aspect of the game, he is a BONUS, optional character. The argument about breaking the integrity of MK is redundant because of this. It would only apply if he were actually wired into the game (in which case I would be against him also). That is what also differentiates this from an MKvsDC repeat.

Anything that has been brought up about MK9 having shifted focus to Kratos now is absurd. The game will continue to be known as Mortal Kombat NOT Kratos In Mortal Kombat. What it has done is made MK fans who are also GOW fans (such as myself) happy, actually having an exclusive character from a game series I love. And if you're questioning my dedication to MK, I'm as much a diehard as anyone. I've been playing it since MK1 hit the arcades.

Anyway, this thread is just pointless now, it is simply just people banding together and parading how much they hate Kratos and his intrusion on MK9. Despite the fact that he is not forced into this game in any way. Taking it much more seriously than it warrants, maybe complaining for the sake of complaining. When instead we could actually be discussing the main game and not the small matter of its DLC/exclusive content.
That's the last input this thread will get from me, say what you will.
 
Well for the people who disagree there is a bright side to all this....Kratos is going to lore in alot of GOW fans plus others. So these people will buy the game, while playing this game they will most likely find a character they like. they start liking the franchise and will want to buy future MK games and BAM!!!!!! MK just grew their fan base. Thats the way i see it.
 
Jarvis, we dont hate Kratos. I for one, think hes a pretty badass character. But the basis of my argument is indeed that the fan service means nothing now. You do know for a fact that people are going to find Kratos as a main highlight of the game, look at the soul series, the hype gets built because of the guest characters. This incarnation of MK's hype was the fact that it was going back to the golden era of MK. I dont care what anyone says, the Soul series is proof, exclusive characters become a selling point above all else when it comes to a game. In MK's case, the fan service that was supposed to happen, is NOW being overshadowed by Kratos being in the game. Sure you may call me a purist, but seriously in a back to the golden days MK, it should be straight MK, nothing else.

EDIT: For everyone who read the post before this edit, the "not" was supposed to be read as "now". I capitalized my mistake.

thats exactly the way i would imagine WB is seeing it and its a smart marketing move from them to help revive MK to a wider audience than just core fans
