MK HD Kollection

Re: Your Opinions

I wouldn't mind having the AI improved, but it's far from a must. I'd worry that they'd mess up the overall gameplay if they start messing with the game's code, so I'm more inclined to want them to just leave it be.

I will be happy with the visuals as long as they stick to theme of the original stages. Wouldn't mind see some new stages, either.

UMK3 already has a 2 vs 2 mode (not tag team), so I'd like to see used over the net.

Honestly, I want them to keep as much stuff "original" as possible. Hopefully they will fix the overall gameplay and AI and make it where they can correct any future exploits as needed (DLC).

In regards to visuals, obviously the new actors shot in HD will be huge. I'm hoping the backgrounds look similar, if not better, to the Palace Gates fake that was posted. I know some people would like the Fatalities and such to look more polished, but I've always been a fan of the old school style (10 hands, 4 rib cages and 3 skulls, lol!). I understand the desire to make it seem more real, but to me, that would take away the nostalgia factor. That being said, if they changed it, I wouldn't be devastated, maybe just a tad bit disappointed.

Regarding unlockable bosses or playable hidden characters, I vote "No." I know lots of people would disagree, mainly because it was their dream to unlock Reptile in MK1, find the error macro himself, Ermac or even play as Noob, Smoke or Jade in MKII. The fact is, we never got it then, so would it really be that big of deal now? I like the old days when there were aspects of games that were dreams and dreams only. I say don't fix what isn't broken. In this case, leave the NPCs non-playable.

Multiplayer? If you mean 1-on-1 VS... of course. Online? Yes. Tag team? Oh hell no! That should be in MK9 and any future games, don't mess with the classics, though.

Here' something that you didn't mention specifically, and would seem to go against what I've been saying, but bare with me. I think the game should include HD remakes, separately, of MK1, MK2 and UMK3. But I think there should also be a "Trilogy" styled HD Remix game. It should include all the characters and arenas from the other games, but put them into this one mode (that includes the different versions of the characters as well .... i.e. MK2 Jax -and- MK3 Jax, both unique). Finally, and possibly most intriguing, would be to include a few "new" characters. By new I mean characters that appeared in the 3-D era of MK games. Can you imagine how cool it would be to play as Quan Chi in the classic, 2D visual style? We got a glimpse of him in Mythologies that way. I wouldn't go Armageddon in this Remix mode, but add some major characters from the 3D era (say the top 4 or 5, perhaps). If they're refilming all the old sprites, what's a couple extra ones, right?

For the actors/backgrounds, I'd love for them to do something really stylized. Not fake, but not trying hard to be real either, just it's own unique style that showcases digitized sprites in some form. Likewise, backgrounds I'd like to see really heavily effected, bring in a lot of atmosphere. I personally didn't like the Palace Gates fake, it's too bland for me.
Old school style fatalities, I definitely agree! It was so ridiculous but such a part of the charm! I loved the absolute mess of skulls and ribcages haha.

The unlockable stuff I'd actually be keen for, but as long as it was old school hidden. You know, took forever for people to figure out. Imagine if they did put Ermac in MK1, except that the only way to fight him, was having to do something based off the original EGM rumour. I guess they did something similar already in SM, but still, I think it would be great.

I accidentally wrote multiplayer, I meant online, have fixed the post now. Tag team also a definite no for me, but I'd be happy with the whole "spectator" element they are doing for MK9.

A trilogy bonus game I wouldn't be interested in. The whole reason I get excited about this collection is not really for the characters, but the individual feel of those games, eg. menus, music, announcers, sound fx, intros/endings. As for new characters in 2d, I've already seen it in done in Mugen. Don't get me wrong, it's cool to see, but the novelty quickly wears off when I realise I never had much affection for those characters anyway.

I mean keep it as original as they can, but make it much clearer.

All good, but just consider the HD res of 1920x1080 px, compared to the original res which was something like 400x300 px, that's a hell of a lot of detail to put in. Which is what makes it clearer, but it all depends on what detail you put in. I was just asking how you picture it in your head.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

I say we all just forget about this game all together. That way if it does come out we can all be taken by joyous surprise, and if it doesn't then no skin off our bones.
I'm personally going to smack myself with a couple bricks to make sure I forget.

He's right I did the same thing with MK9 back in january and when i saw the trailer for the first time i was like a little girl on Christmas morning :)

Right?!

EAN:5051888060124

After weeks of lookin' around I found this barcode number of the MK Arcade Kollection. Googled it and found a few more sites advertising this game...

I'm just hopin' for a nice old-skool gaming experience (why all the new character shoots, etc...?? UMK3 is a super solid game), with a SOLID online function (unlike the MK2 PS3 version, remember the awfull sounds, no rooms).
There's just no port where there is real good online functionality. Yes, we have MAME and other online emu ports that you can play online, but then you have to get the right versions etc, etc... And it's still illegal...

I just hope it comes out soon, but we'll have to wait and see....

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Something interesting I just happened across.
http://www.docstoc.com/docs/63248121/Splinter-Cell-Strategy-Guide

Search within the document for Mortal Kombat. It will show a result for Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection (PS3). Release date? June 30, 2011! Hopefully that's a mistake or just the release date for the game in the Netherlands. Either way, it's another new date to add to our "kollection". ::facepalm::

Edit: And something else I just found. One of the funniest things I've seen in a while. :-D Enjoy!

There are different dates here in The Netherlands, like december. Most likely another ghost releasedate.

lmao, I have pretty much forgotten about it, anyways. I don't even look online for any news on it. The info changes and I am tired of 'chasing' it. I will just go on with life and suddenly find out on a Tuesday that MKK has been shipped to my local EBGames.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

The 2010 VGAs (December 11 and 12) are the perfect setup for the MK Kollection announcement. WB is definitely confirmed to be there. They will show the Batman game, but it's pretty likely that they will show more than 1 new game. A lot of new games are gonna be shown there too from other developers. Sony is definitely showing at least 2 new games, and so is Microsoft. So it looks to be a big thing. And the timing of the event is perfect for an announcement, with the game being released in January or something similar.

Edit-
Actually, if the game is announced there, it doesn't need to be released January. It could be released even the week after on December 14, or on the 21st, to make it on time before Christmas. Very possible. Theoretically if the game was going to be released on the 14th, with the announcement on the 11th, we can listen to the word from game stores to see if they just received any shipments of the game already on the 10th or 11th.

I'd be just as happy if Sony made this announcement as well:
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/113/1136389p1.html

It would give me something to play between now and April 19th.

Remember the 2010 Spike Awards a few weeks ago???
They did a special 25th Anniversary Announcement for the Back To The Future re-release on Blu-Ray.
The release date for the BTTF game on PS3 would also make sense to me, since it's supposed to be out in December, as well.

How did I completely miss the development of this BTTF game? That is simply awesome. I just got the blu-ray release as well, it's the absolute best the films have ever looked IMO, definitely worth the money.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

The Endless Tease continues. This just came in from twitter.
MK_MortalKombat: December is a special month, expect to be surprised. #EndlessTease
Could it be HD Kollection, yes. Could it be them just hyping us up for another count down to not much, yeah it could be that too.

Just saw this myself. Obviously, thought the same thing. But I must ask.... at this point, would it be much of a surprise? In a sense, with them being so tight-lipped about it, I guess it would be?

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

lmfao

Them bastards really know how to stoke a fire. Would be prefect timing to have a December launch to catch a holiday sales boost.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

lol I was just about to post this. whtillnvrb is right tough..could be MKHD,maybe an anouncement, can't think any other MK(9) related stuff that would be a big suprise...on the other side...hyping us for nothing wouldn't be strange looking at the past...soo..yeah..let's wait and see what they got in store for us.

The only other thing that I can think of, excluding MKHD, would be an MK9 demo. Then again, numerous sources have stated that the HD Kollection would include an MK9 demo. In that case, I guess we'll find out soon enough.
