According to TRMK forum member, locustlx, the February 2006 edition of EGM features the top 200 games of all time to celebrate EGM's 200th issue. Ranking in at a modest - if not insultingly low - 70th is the zenith of the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat II. Granted there have been more epic and larger profile games released since then, 70th place seems a little low for the arcade juggernaut. But fighting games, and Mortal Kombat in particular, have always faired poorly in these massive top games of all time lists. With a list of 200, one would expect Mortal Kombat II in the top 50. At any rate, congrats to EGM crew - and the TRMK fans there - on their momentous occasion.

mk 2 is a stand out game, theres something about it that makes it special, its not really revolutionary, but theres something bout it, it definately deserves a spot on the list.

Usually newer games get high ranking above golden oldies like MK2. I'm surpised its on the list, even though this is a 'all-time' list. These lists don't usually reflect the truth about the games in it how they really should rank, their souly based opinion and that can vary between lists like this. For example another one might have MK2 in the top 30. But its good that MK2 got in there at least that means someone still recons its worth playing.
