When it comes to rumors, we tend to avoid them as they're often the product of someone's rampant imagination. However, this time we've received some credible information and have checked our sources who provided our previous rumored information, which was corroborated by the registering of MKArmageddon.com.

TRMK Forums member Khaos passed onto us a tip he received that the next issue of Game Informer, Issue #154 to be exact, will feature a world exclusive article on the upcoming game Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. This makes sense because in the past Game Informer has gained the first exclusive looks at the next Mortal Kombat games. The tip included hints at some of the features of the upcoming game, such as a Create a Kombatant mode where you can change the appearance, fighting styles, weapon and even some form of custom fatalities for your character! My guess is that this character would be either used for Konquest and/or Online Play, with the features and abilities to be unlocked via the Krypt system. I'm excited to see what Midway allows us to do with this, if the rumor is in fact, true.

In addition to the custom characters, it appears we may be getting ALL the previous kombatants from every Mortal Kombat game, even bosses like Motaro and rare characters like Rain. It was also noted that some of the characters absent in the recent games will be sporting some updated looks. The community should be happy with this, because all of their favorite characters will be returning.

We also heard a rumor that a lot, maybe even all, of the stages from the previous games will also be returning along with the characters. I was just thinking the other day while playing Mortal Kombat 3, what it would be like to see the city levels in a future 3D Mortal Kombat game.

The source also touched upon the improved Konquest System we mentioned a few months ago, noting that it is more like Shaolin Monks this time around. Also it was mentioned that the fighting system was updated with the ability to fly; however, we have heard a rumor that Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will actually feature an air combo system not seen in the previous MK games. I'm not talking about the typical air juggle Mortal Kombat combos, but rather in-air button combos. Maybe this what the tipser interpreted as flying.

It will be interesting to see if these rumors pan out, I guess we'll just have to wait to find out. We'll be sure to keep you posted with any information as we receive it.

What is your source for this information? I saw who submitted the story but he doesn't credit his source either. Seems kinda shady is all.

O hell yea, hope it's true! MKA sounds like a MK Trilogy 2 but that's still awesome!

I really hope they built up the arcade mode (possibly brought back the tombstones for challenging difficulties) and didn't primarily focus on Konquest like they did in MKD, or like MKD, I won't be getting this one either. Especially if there's really 30+ playable characters in the game like some are saying, then I'd be really pissed if the 1 player fighting mode is only 6-7 guys.

It's the same source that provided us with the early information that the game was staying on current generation consoles. Well turns out he was right and that Armageddon is going to be the name of the game. So I think we've got some good information this time around as well. We don't name our sources here. When we have done our homework we report what we believe is factual. I think we've got a really good track record with being spot on what we report.

That's what I was thinking, because I doubted it would be exclusivley next gen, if there's only one next gen consol out.

I would love to see how Create a Kambatant is pulled off without some of the probs I've listed before coming up. 1000+ players all creating Lin Quei ninjas all with freezing abilities... I hope they don't let things like that happen.

I'm not too gung-ho on the whole create-a-character thing, but everything else sounds awesome. I'm with Kryptonite on the arcade mode comment, too. There needs to be a lot more options in that arena.

As far as I know, pretty much any Xbox game that comes out from now on is going to be able to run on the 360.

I'm intereasted on how they'll alter the appearence of our old favs like Raiden, Baraka etc. without detaching them from what we fans like them as. Still, I suppose you can't hang onto the appearence of a chracter forever. They got to wash their dirty laundry sometime or replace things they've ripped.

Developers have to create a back. compat. profile for their games and include them on the disc. Some will go through the trouble, some will not. If Midway can overlook rumble support in a beat-em up action-adventure game, they might overlook this as well.

So what you're saying is that you have a friend inside the magazine's staff or Midway itself that's leaking information beforehand and you can't name them or they'd lose their job. I see.
