Spike TV has announced today that its
Video Game Awards 2005 will be hosted by actor and producer
Samuel L. Jackson, who was a winner at last year’s show for
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The show itself tapes on
Friday,
November 18 at the
Gibson Amphitheater in
Los Angeles with the two-hour "games vs. games" extravaganza premiering on
Spike TV Saturday,
December 10.
In this year's
Best Fighting Game category,
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks (Midway) has been nominated along with the following contenders:
Fight Night Round 2 (Electronic Arts),
Soul Calibur III (Namco Hometek Inc.),
Tekken 5 (Namco Hometek Inc.), and
Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower (Capcom).
In last year's
Spike TV Video Game Awards 2004, Midway's
Mortal Kombat: Deception took home the honors in the same
Best Fighting Game category.
