TRMK is back! We've taken a bit of a hiatus recently when it has come to the Electronic Entertainment Expo; however, we are determined to break this losing streak and bring you the same quality of coverage we started way back at E3 1999 all the way to E3 2002.

This year, Midway will feature the first ever playable to the public version of the next installation to the Mortal Kombat mythos, Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. Join us as we go one on one with Shaolin Monks producer, Shawn Himmerick. If you would like the opportunity to ask a question about Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, click on the comment bubble on this news post and we'll make sure it gets answered. As always, we will provide our impressions of the time we spent playing the game.

Also, if you would like any of the TRMK Staff to personally find out about anything that is at this year's E3, feel free to add your comment to this thread and we'll make it a point to get what you want.

Coverage starts on the first day of the show, Wednesday, May 18th. We hope that you join us then.

Psst... Jeff. Did you really mean "Mortal Kombat: Special Forces"? I just don't know who'd still be interested enough in that game to torment Mr. Himmerick with its memory. And all I ask is that you hold down Ed Boon and vicously seperate his eyebrows again so that he has a pair instead of the uni he's sporting currently

Hmmm a question. Alright. "Who are the playable characters when you completely finish the game?"
May 4th, 2005 3:30 PM CST - Kona
ok i got two, one is almost like wht RC said. 'Will any of the old characters come back like Fujin and Rain?' 'Will they follow the plot design like in DA where Liu is killed and in Deception where Raiden, Shang Tsung, and Quan Chi and dead or will they be brought back?'
May 4th, 2005 3:47 PM CST - Robot Commander
Here's another question I thought of: "Past Mortal Kombat games have had many secrets in them. Will this game follow tradition with some sort of combination or krypt section for secrets?"
May 4th, 2005 3:54 PM CST - TeddyBluegrass
Will events in the game clear up any questions reagarding recent and future MK games? ie. the reiko/kahn controversy, why reptile is de-evolving, and exactly how Shang's age was reversed
May 4th, 2005 7:13 PM CST - Kona
Will there be any added on features like new special attacks and/or fatalities? i rlly wonder.....

Just like to ask where the development team get their new ideas from since it's apparent that at some point (MKIII) coming up with new ideas for gameplay was hard for them. Basically it's just a question of where they get inspiration from and how they mould these ideas into actual game elements. Thanks...

May 5th, 2005 11:23 AM CST - Malitor Greymaulkin

"What inspired you to create Shaolin Monks?" "Do you think this game will spark more Mortal Kombat RPG Titles?" "Who will do the audio in Shaolin Monks?"
May 5th, 2005 6:16 PM CST - K1LLKANO
Oh yeah, here's my question. Will you print out a two copies of my scorpion pic? One to give to Ed Boon and one for him and the other developers of MK to sign. If you do, I'll give ya my address to mail it and pay for the S&H. Any current news on the new Movie. Will it follow the MK Story line better than the first and what characters can we expect to make an appearance (other than the standard Scorp, Sub, Kang, Raiden etc..)? Is Rain going to make an appearance in MK7? (Please be a no ) For Shaolin Monks, We want to see some more bad ass renders, a la Reptile, Tsung etc; when will you be releasing more kontent and when does the web site go live? p.s. you can print a copy for yourself as well of my pic. And if Boon wants to say thanks, my email is digi_man79@hotmail.com

Ooh, I got one: Are there any plans to do a Lin Kuei based game (meaning more than just Sub-Zero, obviously)? And I think the big question would be: How many secret playable characters will SM have in total (I want a round number, too)?
May 6th, 2005 11:51 AM CST - Princess Dis
You could ask them for me why they're not releasing it on Gamecube.
May 6th, 2005 12:01 PM CST - Masta-Dante
What made you go back to the MK2 timezone? Will downloadable content be avaliable for the game on xbox?
May 6th, 2005 2:36 PM CST - Robot Commander
Both MK mythologies and Special Forces were considered poor by critics. What made you try to make another adventure game and why we should buy this?
May 7th, 2005 6:31 AM CST - Masta-Dante
Thats a good one! i was gonna ask that but i forgot about those terrible games......probably for the best me thinks.
May 7th, 2005 3:36 PM CST - Special Forces
I can't delete my posts in the news stories.

May 9th, 2005 10:45 AM CST - TeddyBluegrass
Will Liu kang and Kung Lao encounter Shujinko along their journey, in any way shape or form?
May 9th, 2005 10:51 AM CST - Robot Commander
Here's two: MK has been around for over a decade, why do you still make more MK games? and Why did you make Shaolin Monks based off of the MK2 timeline?

May 11th, 2005 1:15 AM CST - TeddyBluegrass
Yes, you will...go to www.gamespot.com and watch the videos about the game, it shows the hat and fireballs and such in action.

"As Shaolin Monks is an RPG-esque game, will there by any upgradable stats?" "Will the fatality moves that made the fighting games so popular be incorporated into Shaolin Monks in any way?" "Who will be acting as the voices for the two main characters (Liu Kang and Kung Lao)?"
May 11th, 2005 2:38 PM CST - TeddyBluegrass
Are they planning to use the new characters (if any) in any of the future tournament style MK games?
May 18th, 2005 8:24 PM CST - dragonfists1004
it may not have happened in the past adventure games, but will this have any impact on the future MK games?
