11:24 AM CST -
For the past 16 years TRMK has always tried to attend E3 to bring our readers the details on the yet to be released games from the Mortal Kombat series first hand. This year is no exception, as we will be there to check out Mortal Kombat X first hand for you readers once again.

There are already banners up around downtown Los Angeles and inside the LA Convention Center advertising the game.

We haven't seen what WB's booth looks like yet. But going by history we can draw a few assumptions. The last two NetherRealm games have been presented at E3 in a demo theatre for the public all week long. After a short wait in line you'll get to see one of the game's producers or designers walks you through the game. They were even giving out the red X-Ray shirts during this. The games are also only typically playable for media at the show as well, so hopefully like years past we'll be able to check it out.

We're also gearing up to be able to do a few interviews with the people behind the game. So submit your questions to us in the comments below, and we'll take the best questions and try to get them answered.

E3 2014 starts on Tuesday at Noon Pacific! Check back later that day for updates and be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for live updates from the show floor! We also advise following along with Sony and Microsofts E3 2014 Press Conferences on Monday, as you'll never know where the game will show up!

Didn't see anything around, so I figured I should post this as I think this is really important. So as most of you know, Pat has informed us all that TRMK will be live and on scene at E3 this year. I want to make this thread for questions that fellow users want the TRMK representatives to ask at E3, if they get the chance. I'll begin with: 1. What is the Story? Is it going directly off of MK9? Will Shinnok be the boss, as teased in the MK9 ending? 2. Which Sub-Zero is in the trailer? Bi-Han or Kuai? And how is that possible for either, if the former became Noob and the latter became a cyborg. 3. Will there be any differences in current gen/next gen iterations of the game, besides graphical, such as game modes, kontent, game engine. 4. How will the single player experience be like? What single player modes are there going to be? Is the story mode from last game returning, as well as the ladder mode? 5. Is the Krypt returning? Are there going to be more unlockable characters and stages in this game?

You know Boon will not answer these questions, right? My question is: What exactly "a new fully-connected experience that launches players into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy" and "Mortal Kombat X gives players the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style" means?
June 2nd, 2014 12:44 PM CST - Noob-Zer013
You pretty much asked most of what I had in mind with a strong emphasis about the Sub-Zero. 1, Also, what kind of roster can we expect? 2, Does this game follow the events of MK9? 3, Did those characters from MK9 actually die? 4, Will Sub-Zero ever kill Scorpion in a promo?
June 2nd, 2014 12:45 PM CST - Flying Jinko
My question : Will we see new/developed iterations of the post MK3 characters like Kai, Shujinko etc or will we be seeing completely new characters in their place?
June 2nd, 2014 1:02 PM CST - glammetal
I'm not counting on them spilling the beans on anything overly important so I have one question... Why are female kharacters portrayed as big breasted strippers? I feel this needs to be answered. Overly "sexy" female kharacters only make the game immature, tacky and misogynistic.

How many new characters will be joining the cast?

I think that's clear. They're trying to appeal to the preverts.

Hopefully this will get taken and asked at E3 as I think this would be amazing. Will Kreate a Fighter return in MKX?

1. any guest characters? 2. is every character going to look like they've been lifting weights non stop 8 days a week for 20 years?(a la mk9) 3. is the challenge TOWER returning? 4. new fight stick?

Given that it's said that we will get different character variations, I sure as hell hope not. Kreate A Fighter was garbage, and I hope it stays out of MK forever.

Mileena and Skarlet is not understandable. There's nothing about their character that says "She clearly should dress slutty." Mileena using her body as a weapon is kind of a fan created defense for her (lack of) wardrobe. I mean, just about every female character has been trashed up in these games. The most unforgiving offense being Sonya in Mk9. It needs to stop. Sexy is one thing... Trashy is another. Mileena had just enough clothing to cover her nips and vagina. Her legs and arms were more covered than her body was.

I really hope not. If Shinnok is the Final Boss, then he should be unplayable and hard as f*** to beat. Same goes for Kintaro and Goro, if they return. Bosses are supposed to be these hard fighting people, who use cheap tactics to win, and are supremely over-powered. (i.e. - 53% X-Rays in MK9) If they are playable, then they should be banned online and only playable offline.

Problem is that I've seen too many people WANTING playable bosses to happen. I always say that having playable bosses loses the purpose of what they are supposed to be. I don't want to fight as a boss and know every single tactic they're going to use against me (with added boss stuff like the shield and stone skin or whatever). But there are some who tend to think that as long as they are balanced with the other characters, it should be fine. No, sorry, bosses should not be balanced to fit in with the remainder of the cast just so that they can be playable. Bosses and sub-bosses shouldn't be playable. And I never cared for Shinnok being playable in the fourth, I thought he was a painfully dreadful, boring character.

I don't mind "Boss" characters being playable, as long as they're not the Boss/Sub-Boss of the specific game. MK:D for Gamecube did it properly, as Goro and Shao Kahn were neither sub-boss or Boss, and were not the crazy overpowered douche bags that they were in the original trilogy. Same with Armageddon, although Blaze being unplayable would defeat the purpose of the game. But yeah, if Shinnok is indeed the Boss for MK10, he should NOT be playable, should be overpowered and cheap, and make you want to break your controller.

You know what I would love? If Shao Khan returned and was a playable character but he isnt the boss and thus does normal damage. Kinda like how Shang Tsung became playable in MK2.

Exactly what I mentioned in the post above. Although I can't see Shao Kahn as strong as a normal playable character, they should go the Gamecube route like I said, and make him a bit stronger, albeit slower and less combo oriented.

Yes, but quite honestly, it's down right f***ing tiring and it doesn't mean that we have to like it. MK9 cinematic trailer; Scorpion kills Sub-Zero MK9 Kollector's Edition Bookends; Scorpion kills Sub-Zero. MK9 start up screen; Scorpion defeats Sub-Zero. Some more questions: - Will there be an online 4-player Tag Team mode (4 people on 4 separate consoles in Tag Team Mode online), as was supposed to be in MK9? - Does character variation mean a similar situation like in Ultra SFIV, where you can use your favorite version of a character from other eras?

lol, everyone up in here demonizing perverts. They're just human beings that give into carnal desire. Grow up lol. There is higher level of entertainment, but they settle for lower level of entertainment. As long as they aren't groping, harrassing people, They're allowed to enjoy what they happen to enjoy. Swear to god people can only see things from their own perspective. We all have things that annoy us or please us. We aren't the same, but someone having a different opinion of what's "good entertainment" shouldn't be demonized for it as long as they aren't hurting anyone. I mean we're playing a game where people KILL each other. I consider that much more "evil" and immature than how light a woman is dressed. Both are fantasy.

Show me a clip where characters were having sex? or doing sexual things to eachother? Even if it was mixed, no one is still getting hurt. And last I checked you SHOULD be over 18 to play this game anyways. And it'd be a preference thing. I wouldn't want someone raping someone in the game. That would make me feel really awkward. But if it's fantasy and OTHER people like it. I won't judge them for liking what they like. What I'll judge is the idea that whether or not it was a good idea to include that in the game. and I think it'd be terrible to include that. nothing wrong with saying what you DON'T want in the game. But don't shit on people who like what you don't like. They are human beings too, and we don't get to choose what we actually like, and what we actually dislike.

It would be nice if they could take Scorpion off the spot light or atleast let other characters shine too. I'm not saying Sub-Zero should dethrone him (I wouldn't mind though), I actually like Scorpion and his new look is great. The box art looks great too but damn! Yeah, I sure as hell hope not. I know that Scorpion and Sub-Zero are the stars, which is why I can kind of excuse the trailer, but I don't need him on the box art, bookends and damn start up screen too. Yeah, MK9 breaking tradition kind of annoyed me. I know Onaga was on the MK:D cover, but he wasn't featured as prominently as the Dragon Logo. MK9's cover had your eyes all over the place. My guess it was WB's call, probably told them to put mascots on the cover as the Dragon Logo isn't enough. Promotion, promotion, promotion.

This is really accurate. Good job for summarizing this. I do believe however that in your list of things that he most likely won't answer, that number 4 is a plausible question to ask. He revealed the Krypt returning for MK9 at E3 if I'm not mistaken.

Is there going to be any significant difference between the old gen and next gen consoles?

My questions: -The MKX press release left some people with the impression that perhaps NRS is developing for PS4 and XB1 while the PS3 and 360 versions of MKX might not be handled directly by the team. Can you clarify the development plan? -Did the break from MK and the time spent with Injustice help with MKX and the creative process? -Net code and online play was one of the few complaints about the MK9 experience. How ambitious is online play and net code integrity being approached in MKX? -With many multiple universe theories making their rounds, people are worried about the beloved MK lore. How is NRS approaching the subject of continuity within the story and MK's future in mind? -After MK9 Skarlet's popularity amongst series veterans and newcomers alike, will we ever see the green Liu Kang aka "Hornbuckle" in the future? -How will MK9's story be told? Episodic story mode? Konquest? Something new? -Is Subzero Bi-Han or Kuai Liang? After all, Bi-Han was the only force that could stand up to Shinnok in MK: Mythologies Subzero. -Will characters have multiple X-Rays? I would be happy with any of these Make me proud, Pat!

But don't shit on people who like what you don't like. They are human beings too, and we don't get to choose what we actually like, and what we actually dislike.
Just because there isn't literal sex happening doesn't mean that sex isn't involved. I'm not going to argue with you because your opinion is nonsense. And yes, I will continue to look down on people whose opinions are poor. Because mouth breathers who want female characters to be 99% naked with G sized breasts don't deserve respect.

- Will the game have exclusive features for the current gen versions (XboxOne & PS4) or will the game be exactly the same across all five platforms? - For how many languages will the game be translated to? Is it possible to confirm any? (Rooting for Brazilian Portuguese, of course ) - Can we expect a demo/beta version of the game to be released shortly before the game's release? - Is it possible to confirm a "Kollector's Edition" of the game? If so, can we expect some sort of exclusive Arcade Stick like we had for MK and Injustice? (Yeah, I know, this one is a bit too soon to ask, but I'm just throwing ideas out here) - Will in-game projectiles affect the environment in any way? Like Sub-Zero's Ice Ball [when missed] freezing parts of trees (or anything) or Scorpion's Hellfire move burning stuff [when missed]. - As of now (June 6th) the announce trailer has 6 million views, while the last MK's reveal trailer barely hit 200k views. Was this reaction expected in any way (due to Wiz Khalifa contributing with an original song) or was this a total suprise to all involved? - Will we FINALLY see hit-trades making their debut in the MK universe with this installment? (This is a SERIOUSLY important one, preventing P1 advantage is a priority) - What about the training mode? What improvements can we expect in this one (when considering Injustice's)? - Who will be presenting the game overseas this time, since Hector is working with Sony Santa Monica now? (This is some sort of LOL question actually haha) - WHO'S NEXT? Anyways, that's all for now.

Probably won't answer Total Number of Character? It will generate allot of buzz on the forums Total Number of Arenas? Probably answer What past games might we see Characters and Arenas from? Will there any New or Returning types of Finishers? Hari Kari and Brutalities Anamalities maybe Will there be Stage Weapons? Target roster size? More famous Eyebrows You(Ed) or Gracho Marks?

Any chance we'll see a mobile release with possible additional unlockables like Injustice had? Also Could you elaborate on the concept of alternate costumes having different playstyles? Would this be a reflection of what was done in Injustice mobile? Could this mean different Fatalities as well?

I have 2 questions. 1. Will you bring back single player kontent like chess kombat, puzzle kombat etc? 2. Will you stop shoving scorpion down our throats and eventually make us hate him ala John Cena? And will sub zero ever beat him in MK media? (I know that's 2 questions in 1 but they kinda relate).

Secondary Question: Will we see different editions of MKX (Like a Kollector's Edition. Tourney Edition, Etc) like we did for MK9?

Well, here I go: - It seems that we will play with a bunch of characters that were not in the MK9, some that will be back from post MK4 games and some that are brand new ones, so, can you tell us how the proportion would be? For example, 40% were featured on the previous game, 40% were not featured and 20% are brand new ones. - Will we be able to finish the defeated opponents with a finalization that was not featured on the MK9? - Now a impression made by the trailer was that the game now is darker, more brutal and not so beautiful as the MK9. So I do ask if this will bring a new change to the series in terms of art, visual and concept style, will it? - The fact of this MK is the 10th, so the "X" one, will have a greater signifcance? Will you try to transform the simbolic X into some feature on the game? - I can't help myself to ask this, what the slogan "Who's next?" means at all? - A violet robot with time power named Pulsive would be a good idea?

Can we please have Juliet Starling (Lollipop Chainsaw) and Rayne (Bloodrayne) as guest characters please? Can we have a way better create a fighter mode? Can we please have Mileena eat up a guy from crotch to face as a fatality? Can we please have Jade vertically impale her victim from the anus to the shoulder please with her staff weapon?

Ask him how he and the team are doing. The man will probably be bombarded with MKX questions at E3. Show Mr. Boon a little consideration for the team. They do amazing work, after all

Boon has confirmed via twitter that Kratos is unlikely to return. My question : Will we see new/developed iterations of the post MK3 characters like Kai, Shujinko etc or will we be seeing completely new characters in their place?

As we saw in the announcement trailer of Sub-Zero and Scorpion run at each other right into battle, does that mean the run button will be added to MKX? And can the fans expect brutalities and/or friendships to come back to life in this new instalment of MK? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is Tag mode returning? Will there be any distractions along the lines of Puzzle Kombat or something like that? What is NRS planning to do for the netcode? Will there be a parry/counter system in MKX?

Will you alter the jump arcs for each character? Will there be unique air moves? Will there be a run button? If so, will there be any recovery frames after the run has stopped? Are there going to be any unblockable command grabs? What are you planning to do regarding armour in MKX? There's been much discord about it in MK9. Some say it's too OP, and some say it is necessary, but one thing most people agreed with was that it was poorly distributed between characters. Some that did not need it, had it (Kabal) and some that needed it (Ermac, etc) were sorely lacking. What steps are you taking to ensure that mistakes are not repeated? Are you going to include frame data in training mode again? That's all I can think of at the moment.

That isn't decided by the developers. They don't say "Well, lets make this character top tier." It's decided by the players as they find out more about the game competitively. It takes months of gameplay and then still, the tiers aren't stable at all for like 2 years because new tech is always being found out.

Is there any current talk of having more than two Fatalities per character?
Having more than two Fatalities per character would really help with the feeling of "been there done that" players get after seeing the same ones over and over again. NRS has a perfect opportunity to be able to transfer Fatalities from an old game to another with the release of MKX. Before, the games used sprites making it incredibly hard to transfer from one game to the next. Then MK4 had a completely different engine powering it compared to DA, Deception and Armageddon. Then with MK vs DCU to MK2011 the Fatalities were dumbed down and didn't utilize the same tech powering the Fatalities in MK2011. (Although proving my point that it can be done is Shang Tsung's Clown Fatality in MK2011) Since MKX is running off (relatively) the same engine there should be little issue with carrying over the mo-cap data and effects over from MK2011 to MKX. It would be cool if, along with the tradition of adding two new Fatalities per character, they would already have their Fatalities from the last game carried forward. That way, each character would have at least four Fatalities from the get-go and it would take minimal effort compared to creating four all new Fatalities per character.
(Relates to above question) Is there any talk of having Fatality DLC?
If NRS can't make the time to port over the MK2011 Fatalities from the launch of MKX, at the very least it would be nice to have the ability to expand character Fatality options via DLC. Though it would suck to have to pay money to see the Fatalities from the last game added to the new one, at least it would give players more finishing options.
What is the lead platform NRS is developing the game on?
If they are even able to divulge this information.
(Relates to above question) Is NRS developing the new-gen versions in-house and the PS3/360 ports being developed by a sister WB studio?
Again, if they are able to divulge.
Answer: MKX for PS4 and Xbox One is being developed in-house by NetherRealm Studios and the PS3/360 ports are being done by another studio. Request that online trophies be kept to an extreme minimum. Having to rely on other people (ex: are servers running, are there rage quitters, is there a big audience playing) to gain trophies/achievements completely blows. MK2011 had horrible multiplayer trophies in my opinion. While I'm no Trophy hunter, I am a completionist and I feel forcing your players into the online portion of the game to complete Trophies/Achievements is a relic of the past generation of consoles. I don't mind Trophies that have players dipping their toes in the online portion but to require massive amounts of time spent in the online portion for trophies seems bad. A games online modes should stand for themselves and be fun enough for players to want to explore them on their own. Not be tasked to play through them via the Trophy/Achievement systems. EDIT: More questions after seeing the trailer during the Sony E3 conference. Are the Fatalities going to be dynamic and have procedurally generated aspects to them?
For example; if Scorpion's Fatality from the Cinematic Teaser is in the game, will his sword pinning the head to the tree be dynamic? Like in the forest stage, it pins the head to a tree but in the "dock" stage will the head get pinned to a boat or the dock itself? Or for example will this allow for MK to finally do Fatalities on Boss and bigger characters (ala Ferra/Torr). Meaning if a character like Baraka cut off a characters head will Baraka's arm be dynamic/procedurally animated to automatically change height to accommodate the location of a taller/bigger characters neck?
Is the lighting model and graphics still in flux/development for the new-gen versions?
The game looks good but still only looks like a slight upgrade from Injustice on PS4. Fatalities are really the main thing to me that look like a big step up. I'm hoping the lighting will receive an update before release.
EDIT: New Question added 6-11-2014 Will MKX be shown to the public, in playable form at EVO? I'll add more questions if they come to me.

How will the team handle patching the game this time? Will we get a true grappler character in MK? How will you balance out the interactables? Will we see some other features or systems from Injustice to MKX? Are the x-ray moves still the same or there's improvements? Is the combo breaker still in the game?

1- Is there going to be a counter system? 2- Are any classic costumes making a return? Any of them from MK: Deception? 3- Are they gonna release a "Komplete edition" a while after release?

Dunno if it's too late but I'd like to know if Story mode will get some kind of new innovation to make it even more engaging.
