As promised, NetherRealm Studios just released the Mortal Kombat (2011) Klassic Skins Pack DLC video and final details. The Klassic Skins Pack will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store for $4.99 (or 400 Microsoft Points) on Tuesday June 7th, 2011.

Please find enclosed a new video from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios, unveiling the first DLC for the recently released Mortal Kombat. The first downloadable pack offers gamers a chance to get all of the pre-order content in one set. The collection consists of seven pre-order klassic character skins for Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Ermac, Mileena, Jade and Kitana and klassic fatalities for Reptile, Scorpion and Sub-Zero. The pack will be available starting June 7th on Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade for 400 Microsoft Points or $4.99 on PlayStation Network.

Mortal Kombat is the most brutal installment of the legendary fighting game to date and is currently available on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft in 2011. i spent $150 on my TE and this $hit is already in the disc... i'll not buy this and probably don't buy anything... and prepare yourself for arcade kollection and next year HD kollection... WB wants to squeeze every penny we need to show them or disaprove on this

If you can't/won't pay $5 for this package, then you're cheap. A very reasonable price for very appealing outfits. Even if it cost more, I'd still purchase the package. Hopefully, we get more packs like this in the future.

You're missing the point. It's not about the price, it's about the fact that there IS a price. The content was available on the very first day, ON THE DISC. I can actually SEE the content in the Krypt as artwork and USE some of the content in one of the challenges. This should be free. If you want to rationalize it so that you feel better about wasting your money, fine, but just keep in mind that you're helping to ruin the industry.

Whether or not you purchase it with your own money or with a free gift card, you're still sending them the message that you will buy it. $5 is quite reasonable for certain types of DLC, but only when it is, in fact, DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT. Hey, if Warner Bros. only charged $54.99 for the game, new, when it was released, I wouldn't make a big deal out of this. But the fact is that you'll be paying $5 for something you already own.

If that were the case, they would have made it actually DOWNLOADABLE. Also, they wouldn't have allowed you to play in the Klassic skins in the Retro Reincarnation challenge. At least Capcom keeps their on-disc premium "DLC" unplayable. Neatherrealm (or WB) basically said, "Hey...look at this stuff that you can't play with...that we'll make you pay for later." There's the artwork in the Krypt, the extra fatality section in the Moves menu, and the Retro Reincarnation challenge. Stop trying to rationalize it. You're getting ripped off.

Come on now. I don't get the complaints at all. They practically are giving it away for free at that price and in what way are you being taken advantage of? If they'd decided to give away the pre-order bonuses for free you'd see hundreds of posts here complaining that folks had wasted money on pre-orders when they could've just waited to be given the stuff for nothing. At least now they've released it in such a way that you still have an option on whether you actually want the content or not. You either want it or you don't, whether it's on the disc is irrelevant to me. Imo the only thing NR/WB have done wrong is not made it clear earlier on that this would be released earlier on(regardless of charge). I feel sorry for the very few folks that bought multiple pre-orders just to get the unlocks. TBH what i find suprising is the amount of money NR/WB will be able to make out of simple pallete swaps, for years people moaned about how tacky pallete swaps are and now folks are begging for "classic costumes" to be released that are exactly that. *Le sigh!* At least they're cheap.

I don't mind paying 5 € paying for all the klassic costumes and klassic fatalities, but what about smoke? His klassic costume is allready on the disc, so why the hell isn't it included in the DLC-KLASSIC-COSTUMES-PACK? He is one klassic too, first appearance was in MKII like reptile for example, so why? WHY?

One doesn't pay EXTRA for pre-orders. The game costs the same whether you pre-order it or not. Therefore, no money is wasted.

Yeah, figured they'd want $$$ for this. It is annoying, but I bet MS and WB made it into a cash grab. Still, I hate paying for unlock keys (*cough*JillandShumainMvC3*cough*).

I just posted something similar to this on the FB post, so I'll post this here too... I don't think the price is awful or expensive at all. In fact, I think it's great that everyone can have them now. The thing that bugs me, was Boon said that we wouldn't have to pay for on disc content. Maybe that was the plan to begin with but WB shut him down. I'm willing to bet this was the case and now Boon and NRS is going to get a lot of flack for it. I just don't like being told one thing and then have the opposite happen. I kinda wish he never said it, because I would right there with a lot of you ready to give them my $5. Had nothing to do with being "cheap." Just the principle of the whole thing.

This comes to no surprise considering NRS has lied about things before. But I don't mind having to pay a minor fee for on disc content. Namco did the same thing with Soul Calibur IV with the extra star wars character already on the disc.

The fact that something's on the disc doesn't mean you'll have access to it. That's how DRM works. Technically, the bosses could be unlocked the same way. Some people would love that, but I know I don't and I don't think most people would, either. Also, it's just a few animations (the Fatalities) and model swaps for f***'s sake. I do wish they'd included costumes for Noob and Smoke, tho.

I could give less than a shit whether it's free or not. It's only $5, and I've wanted Sub-Zero's MK 1 "Spine Rip" and Reptile's MK II "Head Eat" for a while now. So, I'm glad that I'm finally getting it. I've been looking forward to this more than the Skarlet and Kenshi DLC. Give me the Klassic Costumes / Fatalities, Rain, and couple stages (Like The Soul Tomb and Warrior Shine) for DLC, and I'm set.

But there's already some "resourceful" people that will get illegal access to play as the boss characters or the hidden characters you face in arcade like Klassic Smoke and Shadow Noob. In response to the other statement: I agree. Noob and Smoke did get the shaft on this one. Hopefully they will be included in a second retro pack with Cyrax and Sektor.

I honestly think they are going to 7 character costume packs until all characters have another alternate. Noob and smoke will probably be in another one.

i agree with most of you in regards to Classic Noob and Classic Smoke...I personally think they should be included with these other classic outfits for 5.00 because they were in MK2 I think they are throwing an easter egg in this video to shows us that Classic Smoke and Classic Noob may be available in future DLC with all other DLC...that would be fun to have a Retro Reincarnation Room where Online users pick the classic Outfits to have a match and get that MK2 Feeling using the classic outfits..Honestly I would choose Reptiles Classic outfit over the new one and Ermacs because there new ones look dumb.

I doubt they would do two costumes of the same character to start off with, so Cyber Smoke is probably out (for now). I really kind hope they make Cyber Smoke more like MK3 ave a character, not an extra costume. How much you pay depends on what you buy and where you buy it from. Exclusive content restricts that choice. Ermac for example was not a pre-order bonus for the normal game, nor was scorpion a pre-order bonus at a store that sold the game cheaper than others.(Sub-zero was supplied at the cheapest most convenient place for me) Additionally the game IS currently cheaper to buy now than it was at pre-order so a saving would've been made at the price of some aptience. NRS should release DLC characters in a pack of 3 or 5. That would be cool.

$5 is a good price... BUT... he did say we're not paying for on disc-content unlocking. STOP saying things that is not 100% guaranteed. If he never said that then most complaints won't be here.

Do you really think 360 owners would stand for anymore debauchery if PS3 got the DLC for free? If it was MS decision to charge for it, WB probably made the decision to charge both. That way no one's feelings would be hurt. And let's not forget, Microsoft does have a history of forcing companies to charge for their DLC (namely Valve). I find it amusing simply because we paid $60 (game only, on average) for an ENTIRE game full of very nice levels, -alities, characters, alternate costumes, great story, some stuff in the krypt, etc.... We then can pay $5 for a few measly skins and fatalities. Doesn't really equal out in terms of cost:what you get. Of course, everyone wants to make money and plenty of people are probably sporting boners over this content just waiting for it to be available. Well played whoever set the cost, well played.

This isn't just for this post but how much do you people really expect to pay??? I am so tired of people being mad or upset at Boon because of the whole free on disk comment. I can guarantee it wasn't all his decision to charge for things. In fact why wouldnt they charge for content whether it's on disk or not? If it isn't unlockable then we must need a download code to use it. I would t see why anyone would think this stuff should be free. The o ly things free that come off of xbla are videos and demos and stuff like that. I can't remember any time I did t pay for something that was useable in game. Maps, skins, characters, fatalities are all gonna cost something. That's how business works and I don't blame nrs/wb one bit for charging for it. It's called downloadable content. You don't have to have it to play the game. None of this is a surprise to me because I am use to paying for all this stuff be it for Halo, Gears, ect...

I didn't have to pay for Cold Storage on Halo 3 or the Co-op Mission Pack on Red Dead Redemption. :P

That's because after a period of time they became free. No halo map pack was free on the day of it's release. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure alk the packs cost something at some point

the whole dlc-pack seems to be on the disc.

Don't like what Bungie is doing now with their DLC. Make it MANDATORY to buy their packs in order to play any of their playlists in Reach except for Team Classic, it's bull TBH.

Klassic Skins make this game so much more enjoyable for me. It's just skins, but it matters.

XBL content usually comes up like 5am-ish Eastern/Central. How PSN works in that department, I have no idea. Whenever the servers get updated to include them. I'd not expecting them at the stroke of midnight though. Just wait until morning and get them then.

Yeah, but you kind of get tired of only being able to play on disc maps simply because that one person doesn't have dlc. I'm glad that I can finally play breakpoint and highlands in their respective playlists

NRS is located in the United States. Everything should be out by 3:30 am west coast time, if they haven't specified anything. Pretty much the same time as the last episode of MK: Legacy is going to be released in the US.

The Klassic skins are so awesome but it's pretty weak that they released them, anyways, after people went scrambling for particular copies of MK just to get the skin they wanted, especially the people who had to actually pay money for MK Annihilation just to get the Jade code, on top of all the loser scammers we had pass through TRMK during the Kode Trade days.
