Mortal Kombat Klassic Fight StickHot on the success of the Tournament Edition fight stick, PDP is producing an extremely unique classic Mortal Kombat 1 styled fight stick. The cabinet design looks nearly identical in construction of the Tournament Edition fight stick, except it features some of the iconic design elements from the original game that started it all nearly 20 years ago.

  • Mortal Kombat 1 arcade cabinet control panel inspired graphics.

  • Appropriately colored buttons: red for punches, white for block, blue for kicks and yellow for run.

  • Red colored bat top joystick

  • Black side panels with red t-molding

GameStop has item pages for both Playstation 3icon and Xbox 360 icon that have the stick listed at $129.99, the same price that PDP is selling the Xbox 360 Tournament Edition stick by itself. The pages also have a place holder release date of July 1st. We have to admit, these look extremely cool and bring back memories of the original arcade cabinet. While the run button didn't appear until Mortal Kombat 3, it's always fun to imagine what the original game would have been if it had featured one.

For those that still haven't secured their Mortal Kombat (2011) Tournament Edition, with the fight stick, they are still a limited number of Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition for Xbox 360 and Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition for Playstation 3 available through Amazon.com.

For a comprehensive list of where you can still purchase special editions of Mortal Kombat (2011), including Kollector's Editions on sale for $85.99, visit our Where to buy Mortal Kombat (2011) Feature.

I bought 4 of the original Fight Sticks, now I need ANOTHER one? Dammit all... just shut up and take my money. A quick side note for those planning to use this with the original MK's, the Fight Sticks themselves have a much larger distance between the joystick and the buttons - I've found myself wanting to move my hands inwards a few times to make up the difference. But this is still an insanely cool thing to have. I might have to get one for the 360 this time around.

Surprised you didn't say you'd just reproduce this on a spare stick since it's only a sticker really. I'd love it to be a bit narrower actually it does feel a bit too wide but nothing that makes it impossible to use.

Wow, looks like the only thing that needs is some Johnny Cage side art and you'd be set. I like the fact that they went with a different look for this stick although I was expecting a lower price point since, beyond the color scheme, what's there to differentiate this from the limited Tournament Edition?

Awesome, this'll be perfect for the Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection!
May 6th, 2011 5:25 PM CST - mkfan4ever
My thought exactly Shawn! Some of the dates on the web for the HD Kollection were around the same time as the release date for this fight stick. So is this a glimmer of hope that the HD Kollection is coming? New Mortal Kombat + tournment edition fight stick Mortal Kombat HD Kollection + Klassic fight stick bundle Koming?

Will this be available from other places? Gamestop won't ship to Israel
May 6th, 2011 7:54 PM CST - JohnyCageWins
PDP did a really good job making the fight sticks, I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Now it's up to NRS to fix their netcode so use of these fightsticks doesn't cause the game to crash and desynchronize.

There were plenty of TE sticks available on Ebay that were just about the same price as ordering one from gamestop, and I imagine it will be the same for this new version.

Joe brings up excellent question, I have 2 Tournament edition arcade controllers and would like to know the difference if any with this classic colored version?

I should have just bought the game by itself and waited for this stick. I guess I'm gonna have to shell out another 130 bucks for this stick. I'm in love with it, literally.

Preordered mine. Glad I didnt buy that 2nd TE stick now. Hope they make an MK2, 3, and 4 version!

i find it suspicious that they added a run button to the "classic"design.....something tells me this is coming for the HD Kollection....

That stick looks awesome. I have a hard time justifying laying down $130 for another stick. I'm happy with the TE stick.

Is this exclusive to GameStop?

My thoughts exactly especially with the info stating red for punch and blue for kick while the current MK has the top row for punch and not the first column.

I wouldn't read too much into that. First of all, they're trying to stick (haha.... get it?) to the classic design of the original arcade cabinet layout. I don't think they're going to change buttons or colors just because it doesn't go with MK9. Secondly, look at the TE fight stick. It still has the same exact layout (including "Run" button). That being said, I do *hope* this Klassic stick will somehow be tied in with the HD Kollection, though I'm not holding my breath.

will this be available retail or online gamestop only?

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing... The TE stick is like... [1] [2] [BL] [3] [4] And the Klassic stick would be... [HP] [HK] [BL] [LP] [LK] ....Not sure what game they are pointing towards with this new stick.... the things that make ya go HRMMMM...

Some points... 1. This looks really cool, and although I typically don't enjoy the feel of arcade-style sticks, I might have to. It's just so nostalgic. 2. Wait, people bought more than one TE stick? I mean, it's your money, but WHY? 3. I thought the HD Kollection was confirmed to be a no-go.

It was never confirmed to be a go in the first place.

Only for the Yanks again what a surprise... An American Fightstick Made In America Only for Americans.... This stick is retro so the HD Collection you can expect it coming in July to co-incide with the release of this item a person from PDP confirmed it

1. Meh.... 2. What about people who have a lot of friends that play or siblings that play against each other? 3. The HDK was never officially confirmed, and it's generated a lot of buzz for the MK name, so even if it's fake, they'd be dumb to say it's not real.

You're really mad that they're not offering this outside of the US? Who's to say it won't be available in other markets? It hasn't actually been announced, so it's availability isn't completely known. The second part is a pretty grand assumption. They'll offer an announcement for the HDK when the time is right, but they won't just spring it on us.
May 11th, 2011 7:41 AM CST - Sub-Hero Sandwich
Well, who knows? After all, this redecoed stick was announced really damn quick after the release of MK9 and the original TE stick, so it's possible they dropped this info bomb early to drum up interest in the alleged HDK. Still, I won't hold my breath. While it would make sense to do that to promote a remastered MK collection, NRS hasn't said anything one way or another on its official status.

A person from PDP confirmed it? How and when did they do that, exactly?

on the phone to me because we could not get the stick over here in the UK and the sales rep from Europe said he was going to try and get some of these for the UK because there was none of the Tournament editions available for sale of MK9 in the UK and they got completley snubbed by the US Market looks like it may happen again but this will coincide with release for the HDK... why is/was MK9 top in the UK charts and they still want to snub us beats me.... keep it in America then your loss

It could very well be a plug for MKHD, but with nothing to go on aside from a rumored game and an unofficially announced controller, it's all wild speculation. Believe me, I'm as excited about MKHD as anyone, but I don't really think it's gonna drop with this controller. It would be cool if they announced this and the game at the same time, but that's the only likely scenario I would stake any claim to.

no thanks. I already have the official fight stick. I do like the design for this one though

Had I known about this I wouldn't have bought 2 TEs I wish that they would release this art as a skin (preferably plasticy 'slip in' as opposed to a sticker) so that I can use it on the TE sticks I already paid out the ass for.

So my little brother said something about getting the MK Arcade Kollection as a pre-order bonus. Can anyone confirm this?

It is confirmed. I pre ordered mine and was told this also. There is another thread all about the MK collection.

The layout of this stick is exactly the same as the TE stick, including the "run" button, just a diff color. The yellow button is in the same place on the TE stick, just not yellow. I believe it's LB but I could be wrong. My guess is that that specific button is used as the run button in the HDK, which comes bundled with the stick btw.
June 5th, 2011 9:37 AM CST - The Pit
which isnt HD btw
