UPDATE: Warner Bros. PR for the EMEA Region has stated that the information we've posted is "inaccurate."

We have not announced plans for a European Kollector's edition.

The story has been updated to reflect that these details are merely what a retailer has published and may not be completely accurate.

While North America is basking in the glow of their Scorpion and Sub-Zero bookends, the European market (EMEA) sits in jealousy awaiting their market's plans for special editions of Mortal Kombat (2011). It appears that the details of a Kollectors Edition, dubbed the "Fire Edition", have been leaked on South African retailer Take 2's website. The crown jewel of this edition is a statue featuring Sub-Zero being speared by Scorpion.

According to the product listing page on Take 2's website, included in the alleged Fire Edition is as follows:

  • The Game

  • A Figurine

  • An exclusive SteelBook™

  • A collectible Art book

  • DLCs including an exclusive Mortal Kombat classic costume skin and avatar costumes.

This is not an official announcement by Warner Bros., merely a retailer listing with details not known publicly. No word yet on a Tournament Edition featuring an authentic arcade stick, but until an official announcement from Warner Bros. is made, those details are still a mystery and any of this could change. Thanks Mark K!

WHAT THE ****.... That figurine is way cooler than the American bookends. What the hell! I WANT THAT. God, don't people know... Americans don't read!

The statue in this version is a lot cooler looking than the bookends. Damn. : / Also, I am guessing there will be an "Ice" edition as well where Sub-Zero is performing a move on Scorpion, and it'll likely be the PS3 version if that Xbox360 design around the top means anything... Disappointed in all the different variations on the versions. For a hardcore MK fan, it's very bittersweet. So much awesome stuff, but they are making it nearly impossible to get it all, unless you want to drop $500 on all of it.

Yea my wife would kill me if I bought one of everything.

those figures look great, I just wonder why we haven't seen Sub-zero for the american version
January 19th, 2011 4:29 PM CST - Ricochetmatt
With the American bookend, isn't Scorpion spearing a wall or something? Ugh... What the ****? Americans get a drunk Scorpion over this beautiful creation!? Just kill me.

Gotta admit it. I'm jealous of the European version. Lately they seem to get better stuff when it comes to MK. First an M-Rated MKvsDC, now this. I'm sure the KE bookends will look awesome, but this looks ÜBER bad-ass.

I think the European and US versions are very similar in look, just the US ones double as bookends. Sub-Zero is part of the US bookends, just not pictured in the pictures we have. I imagine it looks the same, except a wall is in between them with the US version.

Only time will tell which edition the Australians are getting. As sweet as the EU figure is, I would have more Practical use with the Book-ends, or in my case, Game-ends.

I agree; they would come in handy for that purpose.

also note there is the HD Kollection listed http://www.take2.co.za/games-mortal-kombat-hd-collection-ps3-8923076.html and Scorpion is hitting subby with a sword not spear

^^ nice, you should post that in the MKHD topic floating around. Still curious if we will get the MK stick. Waiting for that one.

Uh Are you sure about that? Looks like the spear to me.

This looks awesome, I hope they have Sub-zero using the ice ball on Scorpion as another figureine
January 20th, 2011 8:55 AM CST - Jinko
Yeah, it's his spear. You can see Scorpion's hand wide open and a rope coming out of his wrists.

No TE for Europe, or at least is what responseded to me on twitter the message was something like: No TE for Europe doesn't mean no fight stick for Europe

It appears that Take 2's listing has some information that is "inaccurate" according to Warner Bros. PR for the EMEA Region. We've updated our story to reflect this, but still feature the details from Take 2's site since they are still online and published.

I find that quite dull... Since Ermac never had that costume so it could never be a "klassic ermac kostume" Some ninjas should at least have their UMK3 outfits!

Uhm... and what about his first "appearance" in MK1 ?? OK, it was a glitch, an "error macro" but he was red... And with the texture on the red part of his costume, I don't mind this look... Why are the leaked PAL KE versions only Xbox? Where are the PS3 versions at?

It's official, the French Kollector's edition will be available for X-Box & PS3 for 89.99 euros. It'll be released in France the same day as the standard edition (april 19th). It will include as Jeff Greeson stated: the game, a figurine (Scorpion spearing Sub-Zero), an exclusive SteelBook™, a collectible Art book, DLCs (exclusive Mortal Kombat classic costume skin and avatar costumes). EDIT: I just noticed that the pic posted 3 posts above by Patrick is the Italian edition while I posted the french one. That's another proof confirming a common european Kollector's edition. LINK

There is only 1 retro costume per pack. They don't mention which one, they speak only of 1 retro Ninja skin, go wonder

I heard that in France there is no preorder bonus so they will put all of classic ninja costumes in the Kollector and ultimate edition. Not sure if it is true or not but it could be. We had the same thing with the pandora box of God of war.

At amazon.fr, they state clearly that only 1 costume will be included. Unfortunatly they don't mention which one... Where did you hear that rumor? It would be great to have all retro costumes included but I don't see it happening. Kollector's edition at amazon.fr
