Yesterday, a Delaware bankruptcy judge approved the pending sale of Midway Games to the sole bidder Warner Bros. For the sum of $33 Million, Warner Bros. makes away with the majority of Midway's heart and soul, including the gigantic Mortal Kombat franchise and development team supporting it.

No word on the recent objections filed by Threshold Entertainment, producers of the television and cinematic Mortal Kombat projects. Although many Mortal Kombat fans would be highly supportive of Warner Bros. becoming the rights holders of the TV and movie projects, as Threshold has been suspiciously quiet on their parts in creating new projects.

Although the judge has approved the sale, it appears that a few things are left to clean up. But for now, it appears that the Mortal Kombat franchise and development team can continue to work on their future projects, namely Mortal Kombat 9.

Well, I'm glad this is all over. Maybe we'll be getting a new MK movie soon?

Alright! Back to business!

Some assets haven't been picked up however, including TNA and the whole San Diego office.

NOBODY wants TNA. And rightfully so. Hope we get MK9 soon. I'll finally have an XBox 360 (getting a Pro in a couple of weeks) by then, so I'll be set.

Yay! Hopefully that means some good MK9 news soon. Screenies perhaps?

God I hope so. I've been so starved for MK since MKvDC was so short...it's like I just skipped a whole game's worth. Even MKA lasted a couple weeks. Will MK9 be an adventure as was rumored you think?

I'm hoping that they do the whole fighter and adventure combo again, but better this time. I'd like another Shoalin Monksish game and I still want the straight up fighting. Variations on fights would be a welcome addition like challenge modes.

Now that Midway and the MK franchise is under Warner Brothers, does that mean that DLC may happen now?
July 6th, 2009 10:01 AM CST - Glamador
Let's hope it's not the usual crappy DLC where they withhold shit from production just to sell it to us later. There should be laws about that...you shouldn't be allowed to work on DLC until a full week after the game's release. And that means you can't START to MAKE it until then, not have it sitting in storage.

Ed said on his twitter that he doesnt think they'll completely finish the DLC, mainly due to them working on MK9. I think thats pretty bull tho. He basically promised it, plus it would sell pretty well.

Well I'm not talking about what Ed intends to do with DLC, I'm saying with a major publisher picking up Midway...well, these companies have a habit of withholding content.
